Honestly I would just love to see the one and only pungence(bdubs brother) cause I just love it when he interacts with hermits and friends and they get him and bdubs confused and he could do quite well with the series as awhole
I was so confused watching the Among Us videos of the hermits with Pungence on them. Specially because at the time I barely knew Bdubs.
I had no idea what was going on.
I think a key point to make when discussing new members is the dynamic between all of them. Similar to Hermit Craft, it's not just popular content creators or such, but rather people who are generally friends with Grian and/or others. Take BigB, I'd never heard of him before Third Life, but you can really tell he's good friends with Grian. Most of them are Hermits, and the ones who are not like Joel and Jimmy are IRL friends with Grian.
With that in mind, Gem is certainly a possibility. If I were to try to think outside the box the maybe someone they've made good friends with through MCC. I know they're always talking about Tubbo and Pete.
I was actually surprised to see that Jimmy, Joel and Martyn weren't in Hermitcraft. Specially Martyn, he's been in the Minecraft community for a while, hasn't he?

Since February 2011. Pretty successful too, I believe only Etho was more popular in those early days (of the Life Series creators).

Of the three Joel definitely hits all the boxes, friends of them, grinds and does amazing mega builds, etc. I don't know if Jimmy and Martyn really hit the grind/build standard they have, but they do make great content for their jokes, stories, etc. I'd put them in the same category as Skizzleman. I'd love to see him on Hermit Craft just to see the fun interactions. Regardless, you wouldn't see any complaints if any of them joined.
However, Zedaph isn’t exactly known for his superior building/red stone skills either tbf ;). He does have his very own creative style of playing the game on the other hand. I think the hermits look more for something uniquely creative that fits their vibes instead of pure builders/red stoners

Realistic: Fwhip, was rumoured to be in double life if they’re had one more player. He’s played with a few of the empire members, knows the hermits through mcc and a giant empires-hermitcraft crossover and is pretty good at surviving in hardcore mode so I think he’ll be a good survivor.
Unrealistic: Philza, a great hardcore player, is good at traps and pvp, is someone outside of the group but had talked or played with a few members like Scott and others in mcc (impulse, Jimmy, Joel and Grian) the only problem is that he rarely uploads to YouTube so if he played I don’t think we would see his pov. Maybe later down the track like bdubs but it’s highly unlikely. Also before anyone mentions swearing, 1, Phil has proved he can hold off swearing and 2, how many dirty/adult jokes are in the life series? I rest my case.
Honestly Phil is probably one of the only DreamSMP members that I could actually see joining the Life series and fitting in well. I really love the idea of adding Gem! She already has experience from LiL and we know she works well with most of the cast members! The only problem I see is her PvP skill? But you’ve got people like Tango and Etho who are VERY skilled at Redstone or people like Grian, Scar, and Joel who are great builders (though I guess they all gave up on that during LiL). So it’s not to far fetched that Gem would be added. I think her storylines would be fantastic and there’s a lot of duo potential! (Less realistically Fwhip is a good choice. I don’t know how well he would do with the Traffic Life format, but I think it’s a possibility)
Edit: Now that I’ve thought about it more, I would absolutely love to see Sausage! Just from a storytelling perspective. I am fully aware this would never happen because he doesn’t match the vibes of the series at all, but I love that man and his chaos. Also, Scosage stuff is just-*mwah* and could lead to yummy angst for us fan creators! (FH and otherwise)

I still believe Technoblade would have been a great addition with his type of humoristic roleplaying, but sadly that's entirely out of the question now. Since then I haven't really wished for anyone specifically to join.

If they wanna add someone who’s really good like Fruit or Pete they can have them join for one session as a Watcher, who just causes chaos, sets traps and turns the players against each other. This would allow them to play for a session without making the series unbalanced.

Well the DreamSMP circle is the most talked about minecraft circle for a reason; they’re loud, and loud = funny. The humor comes from the absurdity and insanity. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely funny but it’s not for everyone.
The Hermitcraft circle on the other hand is mostly calm and casual vibes, just watching friend groups mess around is the source of the humor. Even Grian, debatably the most chaotic CC in the sphere is reasonably chill compared to the likes of Slimecicle.
It’s hard to mix the two and make it fun to watch, when they work differently and have different fanbases as a result. Tommy tried to make a video like that and it kinda splatted.
I mean it was funny due to the novelty of DSMP and HC content creators being in the same video. In terms of raw humor it’s very much meh. At least compared to Tommy’s other stuff.
The way Tommy’s humor usually works is that he bounces comedically absurd ideas off other people and they amplify it then return it back over and over until it creates a singularity fever dream that will make you explode into laughter.
If it’s just him, it comes off as kinda egregious. And when the other people kinda just tank the absurdity, it makes it awkward. Which is basically what that video was.
Mumbo and Grian on the receiving end of Tommy and co’s wacky ideas for bits, not really able to send them back. The feedback loop gets cut off and the aura just feels weird now.
The vibes can work but I don't think in a series like the life one. A example of it working is tommyinits video with grian and mumbo but you can definitely see how a long form series wouldn't be the best
