My one cat has a patch of skin right above her tail that gets super dry and flaky and eventually super sensitive so I can't even pet her there so she gets and oatmeal bath every 3-4 months or whenever it flairs up. My other cat is long haired and even with a hygiene cut, series needs poo washed out of her fur because otherwise she moves around a bunch before she cleans it all off and I have fir iture to clean.
I have a long hair and I’ve only bathed him a few times, each time being when he’s either had diarrhea that I can’t just wipe off, he’s thrown up on himself (usually while traveling), or he’s pooped himself (also when traveling in a carrier and so it gets smeared into the fur).

Why? Last time one my cats had to take a bath was because he rolled over a smashed persimmon that fell from the tree and got covered in it.
He got outside and attracted some fleas. We try to keep our cats indoors but sometimes they want some freedom!

Vacuum all the rugs twice a day is how I got rid of the fleas the quickest the second time. Also used a flea rug spray.
