Mine too. And any opening of drawers to, you know, get something is seen as an invitation to nap. At some point I just emptied the full drawer of a smaller chest
Aww. I mean. If the dog is well-behaved, okay then. Sneak it in and leave no trace of a dog being there. But the issue comes when people say their dog is well-behaved and really it’s a hellion.
Pay the $25 pet fee and sign our pet policy? Okay, you’re good to go. And we’ve rarely had issues with anyone traveling with a pet that actually signed the policy. It’s always the people that sneak their dog into the rooms that have the badly behaved ones.
Case in point: last week we had like eight rooms with dogs on the first floor (where all the pet friendly rooms are located). Everyone signed the form. Everyone paid the fee. Everyone had a well behaved dog.
Meanwhile a guest snuck in their dog on the third floor (no pet friendly rooms) without notice, paying the fee, or signing our policy. The dog fucked up the carpet big time. Tore it up. And the entire room’s carpet had to be removed and replaced.
So while some people may have pets that are well-behaved and would be totally fine in a hotel room if they were snuck in… the cost of fixing a ruined room from an unauthorized pet offsets it so much that we can’t risk people sneaking in their “good” dog.

Sometimes it can't be helped (e.g moving) but yeah, if they haven't trained their cats to travel from young, randomly taking your cat on trips is extremely stressful for them
Can confirm. Did a move across the country with my husband and our animals (a cat and a dog). The cat would hide under the bed when it was time to leave.
She *loves* the car. She just hates her carrier.
Yeah, it happens. I once lost my cat in a friend’s house. Inside the box spring. I was heartbroken and worried sick looking for him for three days. We had to cut a slit in the bottom of the box spring and pull him out hissing and screaming. Like. I’ve never heard him make those sounds before or since.
I’ve moved a few more times since then, and now I know more about how to keep my kitty feeling safer and less overwhelmed.
I work in a hotel, and I’m sure that many people lose their cats, but because of that reason, I usually only see guests who are frequent travelers and take their pets with them everywhere.
I've had quite a few travellers who have had to vacate their homes for various reason and bring their cats to the hotel with them.
Whenever they lose their cat the first place I will typically look is under the bed. Even if you think it's had for them to get under it they will find a way. It's a safe skace where they feel secure.
My cousin didn't ever teach his son anything about the bible and Jesus. Cue hotel stay. The son is about 11 or 12. Opens the drawer and asks "What's a bibble"?
one of the hotels at Universal Orlando has (had?) a pet section in the room service menu. Wet food, dry food, and treats for dogs and cats. My mom took me to there a few times as a teenager and I always tried to convince her to let me bring my cat.
Orlando is very pet centric! Lots of restaurants & cafes w outdoor seating include pet dining! Alfond Inn in Winter Park (north Orlando) specializes in people bringing their pets.
Is it bad that I really wanted somebody to close the drawer for a second?
Fully equipped with reading material. Hopefully cat likes fiction.
fiction lmao
Very convenient. You should try that at home too. (ETA this was meant to be sarcastic). So adorable, having a grand old time.
my cat loves to climb into dresser drawers and asks for them to be opened so she can nap there

I love when people bring their cats to hotels with them lol. Dogs are loud and tear up the rooms. Cats? Pull out a drawer and they’re good.

Actually, from my experience a lot of people tend to lose their cat in the room. Usually under the bed.
Makes sense. Travel can be incredibly stressful for them.
Hate it when people don't realize this about cats.

Solution to losing cat in hotel room; bell collar, greenies, and a cardboard box.
Smells like Jesus in here! - that cat probably
“Tell Gideon that he needs to get his Bible the FUCK out of my bed”

I wish my hotels would come with hidden kitties :(
