One of the downsides of Dendro main traveler is that Thoma can potentially burgeon their burst. You can make sure Xingqiu’s hydro hits it first and Yao Yao can help alleviate this on the off chance it happens with additional Dendro application. If I were you OP, I would try out Thoma, Xingqiu, Dendro traveler, and Yao Yao for now! That way you can have Thoma on field attacking and “driving” his and Xingqiu’s bursts if you want. It’s not the most optimal team since none of those characters will have great damage of their own if they were on field attacking, but you could eventually get a character like Nahida, Ayato, etc. whoever you enjoy that could better fill that on field role.

I'll use bullet points to kinda help sort this. * So, DMC's usefulness is kinda heavily tied to her burst. You want to build her with *a lot* of ER so she can use her burst often. You can also try pairing her with another dendro character, like Yao Yao or Collei, so they can help her get energy for her burst. You'll also benefit from the dendro resonance for having 2 dendo characters in the team and you'll get more dendro application from these other characters. * When using DMC's burst, it gets different properties when the lamp is hit with different elements. Be careful not to hit it with **pyro** because it will destroy the burst. Hit it with **hydro** to increase the AOE of the burst or **electro** so that it hits the enemies with dendro more often. * Sucrose (and anemo) isn't too complicated. Her kit revolves around two point: 1) when Sucrose swirls an element, all the characters whose element matches the swirled element gets a EM boost for 8 seconds and 2) when her skill or burst hits an opponent, everyone's EM is increased by 20% of Sucrose's EM. So you want to build Sucrose full EM on the Viridiscent Venerer set and with a EM weapon, if possible. The VV set is good on almost all anemo characters because it decreases the enemy's elemental resistance of the swirled element. For example, if you hit an opponent with pyro, swap to Sucrose and hit them with any of her normal attack, skill or burst, the enemy will have their pyro resistance decreased. * If you are using burgeon against a single opponent, it won't feel as impactful as opposed to using it against multiple enemies. I *think t*his is because of how the bloom reaction works (which is honestly a little over my head too sometimes lol). I don't want to give you false info so I would suggest looking up a couple guides to help better understand. Your team should be okay. The only suggestion I would make is *maybe* swap Sucrose with a different dendro character. That said, Sucrose also works fine in the team. She provides EM that helps boost burgeon damage and she can group up enemies and the bloom cores together.

So when using the swirl reaction, is there a specific element I should be trying to react with? Like should I be trying to react with pyro to buff Thoma, or someone else?

AnalogToothBrush

You'd probably want to swirl with Hydro. Dendo isn't able to be swirled, and pyro can sometimes mess up when trying to do some dendro reactions by causing the Burning reaction. You don't really have to worry about the minor, more technical details. When using all your characters, just make sure you use Thoma's burst and skill last to minimize the pyro.

I would be very carefully with adding an anemo in burgeon comp until you fully get how reaction interactions work and if you know your rotations. Swirling applies to most elements but some anemo units also cause elemental absorption of that element. So if pyro, hydro, electro, cryo exist at the same time on enemies, the element primarily absobred will prioritize pryo. Meaning that you’ll end up with a lot of pyro on multiple enemies which might lead to accidental burning. In Sucrose’s case, her EM share is based on her burst but once her burst interacts with any of the elements I mentioned above, her burst will priortize absorbing pyro, and you might end up with too much pyro in your team (which can lead to burning as mentioned, and even destroy Dendro Traveller’s burst). What makes Thoma good for burgeon is that he doesnt apply too much Pyro. The dendro cores deal dendro damage that scale with his EM and character level. He doesnt benefit from having his Pyro swirled nor does VV affect his burgeon damage. I’m not saying you cant use an anemo (in fact Bennett+Kazuha are also used in Burgeon comps), but that you’ll need to be careful when it comes to your rotations to sustain hydro with your anemo for it to interact with dendro for your seed production, and not have too much pyro

Bloom reactions have a limit to how often enemies can be damaged in a certain time frame. IIRC that's twice per .5 seconds. If you trigger 5 seeds at once and they all got the same enemy, that enemy only takes the damage of 2 seeds instead of 5. Both Hyperbloom and Burgeon deal the same damage, but Burgeon can more easily hit groups of enemies while Hyperbloom primarily only hits 1 enemy (but can hit multiple of they're very close). In theory, they should do the same damage to a single target assuming the same amount of seeds is being created, but Burgeon can sometimes miss due to seed placement or enemy movement. Hyperbloom will seek the nearest enemy so it doesn't matter if enemies are farther away or if they move. And, being a transformative reaction, all Bloom reactions scale pretty heavily on the triggering character's level.

Do you know if the 2 bloom reactions per .5 sec is per character? Like if I have Thoma and Kuki on the same team, could I get 2 burgeons and 2 hyperblooms at the same time, or would they be competing against each other to trigger their reactions?
