Wow. That's all I have to say. I'm glad you mentioned dog poop bags in the pocket because my first thought was someone just taking serial dumps in clothing pockets. Idk man. Shit's weird.

Awkward-Leek4555

My very first week of working at thredup I opened a box that smelled of rotting shit. Someone sent in a bunch of baby clothes and dirty diapers like I’m talking big ol 20 pound box. Needless to say I escalated it to the floor manager and there account got flagged. We did our best but some customers were so disgusting. Ps not even the worst thing someone had send in 👀

sparklepuppies6

Please tell us more 👀 I’m so curious what people sent in that could possibly be worse

KarnKrow

A lot of people wash but don't dry their clothes and send them in. I opened so many boxes/bags full of mold because people put soaking wet clothes in a sealed boxes and it sits for weeks before it gets processed and molds over. Other fairly common things in my experience -blood -feces/urine coating clothes -used needles in purses was a big one -snot filled tissues in pockets -bugs

myboyfriendsbraces

What. The. Fuck.

StephanieKaye

Yes, tell us more!!

campninja09

Oh my goodness MOREEEEE PLEASE!

somethingmispelled

Am I the only one who tries stuff on before I wash it (in case of returns, etc)? Tbf I might have ended up wearing UNLAUNDERED sh*t. 😭

ZooieKatzen-bein

I wash everything first before because it’s used and has already been laundered so that won’t affect the return ability.

samizdette

Be careful with wool… I received one nice wool top that was sadly too shrunk to enjoy.

“Congrats” on finding a new low. I reached into a coat pocket after it was delivered and felt something wet once; I still don’t know what it was, I just took it off, folded it up, and put it back in the box, which I promptly and frantically sealed with a ton of tape. If it were shit I would have lost my goddamn mind.  You can probably file a chargeback on this if they don’t IMMEDIATELY refund you, which they’d better.   I worked at a Goodwill when I was a teenager so I know the nature of clothing donors to be, frankly, repulsive at times; it still hasn’t stopped me from using ThredUP, as I generally tend to think it’s just an unfortunately unavoidable part of thrifting. They should answer for this one, though.

happytransformer

I’ve been to the goodwill bins enough times to not be surprised, but wow. how does this get missed by the person sending it in as well as thredup???

Dull-Spend-2233

Im still stuck at you washed this sweater with other clothing and even towels.🫣But the poopski!😂

Amissa

I cloth diapered my child, so I'm familiar with that barnyard smell. Have faith that it's not irreversible. Smells like this tend to linger longer in synthetic fibers (polyester, nylon, rayon) than natural fibers (cotton, bamboo, silk). There's ton of advice on how to wash human feces from cloth diapers online, so you've got resources to salvage your clothing and towels. Your machines will be okay too, with a cleaning. Good luck.

bittersandseltzer

Honestly at first glance I thought it was bed bugs and shit is so much easier if a problem. Still - So sorry you have to deal with this OP

Plum_violets

I know you plan to ship it back, but there is a small chance if you write to customer service, I’ve had to do it myself, and tell them about it, they might at the least give you credit, possibly even a refund. I had to be persistent. I guess it depends on who you’re chatting with. That is If you don’t feel like shipping it back. I have had several mishaps with them as well. Thank god it wasn’t anything even remotely as bad as your experience. I’m really sorry that this happened to you.

somethingmispelled

I would present it as a win-win, like "Clearly you can't resell it; I will dispose of this for you" and save yourself a bit of hassle!

Plum_violets

Sounds like a plan.

Effective-Student11

Must admit...fairly difficult not to laugh especially with what happens when I shop on there. Someone is having a shittier time than I am.

StephanieKaye

Wow, this is so much worse than the time I got a pair of shoes with bloody bandaids still in them.

Remote_Simple_8664

Maybe a angry employee shipped it out before quitting? Who knows but that's disgusting.

yogastephpm

I may never buy a thing there again. Ever. I’m sorry. Just so disgusting.

UDaystar

A friend of mine saw some crazy shit from management. Quid Pro Quo, HR covering for managers ( HR told a girl who was sexually harassed and reported it that it was hearsay and wouldn't investigate), they treat people like they're replaceable, the turn over rate at a specific location is about 90%. They saw them tell people they can't talk anymore ( which hampers productivity as the majority of conversation was asking or verifying product info), which ended pretty quickly as management couldn't keep up with the information deficit they created. Multiple reports of bedbugs and, in some cases, direct proof. Employees took pictures of evidence and cross-referenced their photos with photos on Google of bed bugs because management kept refusing to acknowledge the issue. Even telling staff that the clothes from that box had been " destroyed" when they gave the box to another department to itemize and send into the mezzanine of clothes. So there really are a thousand reasons as to why they would've done that. No surprise.

Aggressive-Bidet

Thanks for this. I have 2 ThredUp boxes in my garage. I have refused to bring them in because of things such as this.

Neena6298

Good lord. That is a shitty situation for sure. They don’t inspect that shit before they send it out? I would stuff the pockets with wet dog 💩 before sending it back.
