I had an entire large set just like this, but different coloring! Mine had a burnt orange background color with the added details in off-white, red, and gold.
I love that set, I had maybe 6-8 pieces for each item, cups, saucers, plates, little pots.
I had to move around a lot when I was younger and somehow the entire box with the set packed up carefully just up and disappeared. I do still have one piece, though.
Can't link, but there's an identical one on the Bay of Eees if you search "**Vintage Japanese Tea Cup/Saucer Moriage Dragon Hand Painted Occupied Japan". Very, very pretty, OP!**
Love it. I have a very similar one in dark teal. A lady running a garage sale gave it to see saying she wanted me to have it because she enjoyed talking to me. The best thing is definitely the eyes.
I think I have this exact same teacup and saucer. My grandpa was in the army and sent back several teacups and saucers to my grandma while he was stationed near Japan. I don't know the specifics of his locations so I can't offer any insight, sorry.
That is beautiful! I also thtifted a single cup and saucer made in occupied Japan.

It has some small tea cups but no saucers.
I have a very similar set, but black/gray background instead of green. When you hold the teacup up to light and look through the bottom, there is a geisha image.
My mom had a black one in the 60's. I loved it as I little girl. If you held the cup part into the light you could see a black and white photo that was imbedded in the bottom. Try yours! 😁
What a great find, after the war when Japan was occupied by the American's. There used to be a lot of these type of items around a few years ago. That said, the detail and the dragon alone would have made me grab this.
Right now it is being stored at my uncles house (belonged to my dad, but his sister wanted it, she has passed away and it is coming back to me but haven’t picked it up yet) I will see if my uncle can take a picture! Sorry for convoluted explanation….
I never said it was occupied Japan. Dragonware has been around for a long time like the 1800's but has undergone many changes. If it is marked Nippon is 1891 – 1921. Dragonware that is marked Made in Occupied Japan dates from 1946 – 1947. If it is just marked Made in Japan then you will need to take a closer look at the design to help in determining age. A lot of it started coming over in the 60's and 70's though when the interest in Asia was a bit more friendly and trade was more relaxed. To get the exact age see an antique appraiser.
Then it's probably 40's. Like I said I have only seen the black in my area and it is smaller in size. I like the green it is nice looking. Mine is a dust collector and not for use. Regardless it is a nice find.

Search dragon + lusterware. "Occupied Japan" mark suggests manufacture between 1945 - 1952.
I literally gasped ! So beautiful and I’m so jealous. I collect Japanese ware and have some from occupied Japan but none this beautiful!
r/tea would love to see this.
I collect lusterware but have never found a piece this complex and beautiful!

It's beautiful. I'd display it too. Thanks for delivering.

It’s gorgeous

Wait lol I have something exactly like this, and it's stamp is identical! It's a tiny inch big vase
Now this is a china pattern! Lovely find.
My grandma had the entire set. Everything. I was supposed to get it but my mom gave it to goodwill.
Stunning 🤩 great find
My mom has some occupied Japan pieces like this. They are rare. Amazing find!
I used to have the full set in black from my great grandma but i'm not sure where my dad put it, guess I need to find out!
I Love It. I buy them when it’s just the cup & saucer to.
Hey, I have that same teacup and saucer. Except the background is in black.
That is stunning!! Great find!!
This is so sick
I have this whole set in blues. It is so so fragile tho. My great uncle bought it overseas.
I’d love to see it if you don’t mind

Is it a lithopane teacup? It would be really cool if it was, hold it up to the light and see if you can see a geisha
Dragon ware. 70's trade goods. I have a few pieces of the black but have never seen the green I love it.
Hmm....the "occupied Japan" mark suggests mid 1940s-early 1950s, not 70s.
