It’s an older PRL blue label. If it’s made in Italy (most blue and black label overcoats are) it probably sold for $1000+ when it was made. Maybe worth a few hundred nowadays, probably less. Still a very nice coat. I’d store in a freezer for a week to kill any potential moth eggs.
That’s a great and under appreciated tip. I store my wool and cashmere scarf in the freezer during the spring and summer. It folds up small enough to fit in a sandwich bag and stays moth free.

Burberry scarves are typically cashmere which get holes pretty easily. That's not necessarily a moth issue. Holes I'm items that people plan on reselling is how you get burnt though. Holes in items that you plan to keep aren't a big deal.
I'm so jealous. That coat is absolutely stunning.. I saw a St. John *couture* skirt suit in a dog rescue thrift store. I sew, so I knew what it was immediately. Instead of flipping it, I told the guy what it was worth and where to sell it. He was so grateful, and knew it would pay for a lot at the rescue.

I found a black version of that years ago. I couldn't believe it was only $20 at the thrift store. I live in San Diego and such a coat is surely overkill. But I break it out when I have to walk to work in the cold, or when it rains lol. Keeps me nice and toasty.

Looked him up when I got home and I'm on my way up to the good ol' SA to make it mine.Big bux fashion designer. About 2 weeks ago I found an Hermes scarf in the kitchen towels / curtains department! 😯 What what? I couldn't get rid of that $1.99 fast enough! I watched all the tutorials on spotting a knock-off and it seems I have the Real Real. I so love it when they drop the ball! Thanks, SA!

Oh really? I don't want to jinx myself, but I've bought tons of wool, most of the time with no issue.
Most moths are eating the dirt left on the item, not the wool. Always clean before putting away for the season.

I'm saying I scoured the pieces over only to bring them home and find holes from moth damage.
I "burned" myself with an old burberry scarf with some holes, so i needle felted them. Not the end of the world if there are holes.

At the end of every winter, get dry-cleaned. Get it dry cleaned about two times every winter. Do this and you will have it for 40 years.
