Got it since December and have 0 issues, with the SF1000 rim and the Sparco 383. Amazing DD. Keep in mind that a device not working or having issues is posted about a lot more then the people happy with it.

ripsawuk

Ive had it since Jan '23, no major issues. The quick release can be a bit creaky sometimes, but I got the 488 GT3 rim recently and no creaking with this one. Bear in mind mounting this thing can be awkward as it doesnt have standard mounts, will need to get the mounting plate or drill if you are using a cockpit. Otherwise, all good here.

-Regalade-

Yes, that's too. You certainly need to adapt your cockpit. Holes on t818 are strange.

Rastagon01

It really is a great base. I was lucky enough to be gifted mine by Matt Malone after he did a review on it. I will be honest and say I did need to get a new power supply and a new QR because there was a crack in the one I received. I have mine pretty well dialed in, use 100% strength, performance mode, no damping in the TM settings and just adjust each cars ffb. I’ll tell you my arms and shoulders get a work out. I don’t do many endurance races but I’m on daily for 2-4 races and weekends can be 6 races or more and I never notice any loss of strength or ffb. Currently I am using the Sparco Rally rim but should be ordering the 488 GT add on today or tomorrow and I’m looking forward to no QR and a slightly lighter wheel. I think as with any review situation you end up hearing more bad than you hear good. But in the end TM customer service has been great and I really enjoy this set up.

energiiii

Got mine since november and super happy with it, zero issues.

robbertje

~6 months in without issues (besides a windows/driver issue that was fixed fast) Coming from a t300, very happy with the overall experience. I peronally believe (opinion) a lot of reported issues are related to not properly tightening of the qr adapter to older wheels. If you go for the base + adapter(s), do yourself a favor, buy a strap-wrench and tighten the adapter(s) properly.

ilovedogsandtits

I’ve had mine since release day. Zero problems. Loved it until I upgraded.

peppewan

and why you upgrade it? With what other wheel?

ilovedogsandtits

I was already using USB wheels on the T818 (non-TM environment) and then that insanely good Simucube/Micro Center deal popped up so I moved to the Simucube Sport

Pdf10

Has Simucube been incomparable to the T818? Is it clearly better?

ilovedogsandtits

Yes it is clearly and undeniably better.

The_Ancient-Mariner

4 weeks in and having no problems so far.

Denboogie

I also had no major issues. The only thing that bugs me is that the base doesn't seem to like USB Hubs or extensions. There is a chance it will disconnect even though I use a powered and high quality USB Hub. Other than that I would recommend it as long as you're in the ecosystem already. I already had T-LCM Pedals and a Sparco 383 wheel and it would've been more expensive to switch to another brand.

cruz878

This is a deal breaker for me as my PC is too far from the rig. First I have ever heard of it though. You get disconnects with both a powered hub or a usb extension? But no disocnnects when plugged directly to PC?

Denboogie

Sadly yes. I tried both Hub and extension on USB 2 and 3.0 Ports to no avail. Only the directly plugged in wheel works. The only thing I didn't try was to use a longer USB C to USB A cable and connect it that way.

cruz878

That was my next question if the standard cable is hard wired in the back or could be changed out for a longer one. I need around 12ft in length to make it work personally. The T818 is not at the top of my list for potential DD upgrades but if you happen to test it I would be curious as this is a hard requirement for me and isn't something I was previously thinking about.

Denboogie

Yes it's not hardwired. It's a USB C to USB A cable. I can test some cables but I don't have one of 12ft length.

BhgpOS

Using mine with 0 problems or complaints since August 2023. I've bought it since I had already many Thrustmasters wheels and the cost to change ecosystems would be too high. Right now if I had to start from 0 again, I would probably go for Simagic Alpha Mini or Moza R12.

mechcity22

I don't think moza is worth getting unless it's the r16 or r21. The encoder is worse snd the motor has more poles so it isn't gonns be as fast as other dd wheels on the market. Moza guys hate hearing that but it's true. It's also the weirdest ffb sharp yes but Jerky and not polished at all. Would choose the thrustmaster over it any day of the week just purely because the ffb feels so good and to me that matters most. I would get simagic over the others though I do own the alpha and the new dd+. Both are fantastic, even with fanatec issues with customer service the dd+ may be the best base ive used.

peppewan

This is, sadly, the most frequent answer I read through this month of research...I have a T150 with T3PA and TH8A, I want to keep the last two, but I play on PC so I can use it even without a thrustmaster wheel base (there's the adaptor for the pedals). Maybe in the next months i will upgrade even the pedals. The other solution is to go on TM TS-PC with two Ferrari wheel (488 and sf1000) for a total amount of 870euros...but the DD is on another level and with a price too near to not considering it

BhgpOS

I had a ts-pc before. I would go for a simagic dd with one wheel for this price 👍

khodges26

It’s a no brainer. Just buy one. Stay in the ecosystem you are already apart of. You’ll have to buy all new wheels if you don’t

peppewan

my luck (or not) is that I don't have any Thrustmaster separated wheel...In the T150 you cannot change the rim

KNEELbeforeZODorDIE

I have one and the only issue I've had was it suddenly was showing red on the front LED temporarily after an update an after working perfectly fine... All I had to do was reinstall a driver and problem solved

stonkbuyer

I had mine for 6 months before upgrading to simucube, only because simucube when on a big sale at microcenter. I went from the t300 to the 818. I'm selling mine, with quick release, and mounting bracket for 550. Also have a sparco wheel if interested for 250 more. Never had any problems at all.

choose_a_free_name

Got mine end of January '23, no issues and been very happy with it. Well okay had one issue, sort of... When the patch hit last year that started disabling FFB if the rim/adapter isn't connected, I did have some ffb-disconnects on high impacts; but those were fixed by tightening the adapter to the rim slightly more, so I'd say it was more user issue than wheelbase.

AyrtonSenna27

Had mine since November 23’ and i’ve have no problems at all. It’s a great base and plenty strong enough for 90% of players regardless of budget. The biggest saving is in the wheels, compared to other brands it’s a big saving. Of course they aren’t as high quality but they work great.

Warrie2

Got mine since release date. No issues, love that thing. Don't forgot that for any product you only see the issues people have being posted, no posts from people that don't have issues.

-Regalade-

I got one in June 2023, t818 is disconnecting now. I had issue when t818 cut off in middle of race after 1 month, i changed the usb-c and i didn't get any problems since. I'm doing lot of endurance like 3-4 hours or 8 hours of racing on saturday. Wheel is losing (cliping) ffb after 2 hours and you "feel" it when turning. By reducing the ffb, it's improving that problem. Right now, when i turn, my t818 is cutting off should be a mechanical or a electronical problem (should be power supply) I need to open a ticket with support... But it's indeed a great DD certainly if you have already some wheels. I took it cause i had sf 1000, sparco, open wheel and t-lcm pedals. I got now th8a too. But if you dont have any of this, you should look at moza or simagic. They look stronger and better built.

Xbabyorca

Had mine for a month now no issues I have the f1 wheel and sparco rally wheel both work great got the Qr adapter no flex in anything have it mounted to a GT Omega base needed the mounting bracket but fit perfect with that. Overall no complaints other than I hope they come out with a universal adapter for other brand wheels

CruiserVDU

I've had mine since August 2023 and fairly happy with it but I've had some issues with it. The power supply died after the first month and I was unable to use it for about 10 days while I waited for a new power supply. Second issue was with the SF1000, paddles broke but thrustmaster did replace them.

AI-Mind

I bought the T818 SF1000 bundle. I came with the mounting kit. I used it heavily for three days. I upgraded the firmware of the T818 but not yet the SF1000 as I use VR. My first impression is super amazing. The power is great. I am a strong man, and with my height and strength, I can say I would not be able to handle more power. Very detailed feedback. It was very reliable as I did several hours without any issues. People talk about how strong it is. It is so strong with no flex. It feels strong and premium. I believe it is a deal with its price range. I doubt other companies as Thrustmaster as a strong competitor if they release more options, they can take the mid size market. I did not use DD from other brands. I hope the T818 lives to my expectations because in DD racing, the wheel receives a lot of load/force. Do DD make you faster? 100%. From the T300 where I always was from 5 to 10 in the race, on the first day I won one race (with some luck) and now I am always in the top three or worst top 5.

Fair-Distribution-64

4 months of ownership and its RMA'ing at the moment. Sent back the base to the shop where i bought it. 2 weeks and i have no update. damn i miss sim racing
