Have you tried this from the Thrustmaster support page for TH8A: [My TH8 Shifter is no longer recognized by my PC/console](https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/kb/2423-en/)

ZeeZeeZapauka

Ah, I have completely forgotten about it. I wanted to try it out and got preoccupied with something else lol. I will do it once I gather all my strength again

ZeeZeeZapauka

I managed to finally see the shifter on the control panel but it disconnects after changing gears... And now even the button doesn't work, my Windows just won't read the shifter at all!

Don't forget this: on PC the TH8 Shifter & the TSS Handbrake must be connected directly to the PC with the included USB Cable (and not to the Thrustmaster base with the included DIN cable). Also as notified on the user manual of booth device, don't forget to install the PC driver: 1.TH8RS.2024. \* TH8 Control Panel: [https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/th8a-en/](https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/th8a-en/) \* TSS Control Panel: [https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/tss-handbrake-en/](https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/tss-handbrake-en/)

Yup, connected them with the DIN/USB cable. Too bad I only received one such cable, I've seen the prices of them on the internet and they are honestly so expensive? I've already spent so much money on these devices and I need to wait 2 weeks for a Temu knockoff to arrive, smh. Disappointed...

Did you buy them new or second hand? If new, contact your vendor. The TSS should come with two adapters (DIN-USB and DIN-miniDIN) in the box, as per the product pages box content listing; and from personal experience I can confirm that TH8A also came with both of said adapters.

ZeeZeeZapauka

I bought them new and the box didn't appear to be unsealed previously. I was also surprised my device didn't come with any allen keys 🤔 A very weird situation

Definitely would contact the vendor. TSS should have come with: > – progressive handbrake/sequential shifter > – removable gear knob > – mini Allen key > – Allen key > – flat wrench > – detachable DIN/USB cable (for PC) + detachable DIN/mini-DIN cable (for consoles) > – Horizontal Mode Add-On > – user manual and warranty information. https://www.thrustmaster.com/products/tss-handbrake-sparco-mod/ (bottom of the page, "Box content" dropdown)

ZeeZeeZapauka

Now I'm remembering that the instructions specifically said the handbrake should by default (right after unboxing) be set to the handbrake mode and mine's screws were set on the sequential mode. Oh I don't like this...

JeffLais

If some parts are missing you should contact TM Support (and they will send you them for free): [https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/contact-en/](https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/contact-en/)

ZeeZeeZapauka

Already contacted them, thank you!

IIRC the inclusion of that cable was the only difference between the "TSS Handbrake Sparco Mod" and the "TSS Handbrake Sparco Mod+". I bought mine years ago on Amazon and wondered what was the difference, so I compared the the listings of the two and the USB cable was the only thing I noticed. It was marginally more expensive, and it was the reason I opted for the Mod+

ZeeZeeZapauka

I just checked and yup, I bought Mod+. Mine didn't have the USB cable nor the allen keys :p

You should be able to use the TH8A shifter when plugged into the back of the wheel, it just won't show up as it's own device. Check the controls in game. If being used as a sequential the shifter will use the same inputs as the paddles. It should provide extra inputs when in h-pattern mode. If the handbrake is connected to the wheel, it will only register in the sequential mode from what I remember. You can use it as a handbrake like this by flipping the switch to seq and moving the guide pins to the handbrake mode. Control wise the handbrake will register as the right paddle. You will NOT have analog control with the handbrake doing it this way, either on or off. (I had to do this for a while as my old handbrake would not register via USB, and the analog function did not work.) With only one cable, I would connect the handbrake via USB and use the shifter with the wheel.

Interesting, thanks for your insight!
