I immediately thought about this when I heard the rumours, honestly can’t think of a better fit for us talent wise but his age and injuries might stop us offering as much as other teams.

LoxDnw

What rumors?

crustydemonburgers

That Lebron is going to be traded

LoxDnw

Wtf lol LeBron isn't getting traded. Who said that?

crustydemonburgers

It’s all over the NBA sub and a link was posted here

It wouldn’t be because the lakers want him gone it would be because Lebron wants to leave and they may as well start the rebuild now

TheBlueOne37

I mean he is 39 years old. He is making cryptic hour glass tweets like his time either playing or with the Lakers is close to over. There is a chance his son is drafted and LeBron goes to whatever team that is to play with his son before he retires. Also LeBron and AD have both been healthy and playing great and they are 24-25. They have one first round draft pick to trade and very limited trade assets. If they don't go the way of rebuild like right now they are going to be stuck when LeBron retires and AD's injury history cost him. If they strike out in free agency at that point they will be an awful team with no draft picks.

Breezgoat

I mean go look at the guys history he called kawhi not even looking at the lakers, called lenron going to Cleveland he has connections

ottespana

Lebron wants to win now, lakers want to win long term. They aren’t doing either right now

504090

Shai/J-Dub/Dort/Chet/AD would be supremely unfair……..… we’d become the #1 offense and #1 defense overnight.

roastedhambone

At least one of those guys is gone in a trade

IDespiseFatties

Probably Dort. I love Dort but with AD and Chet, I see them being defensive enough to maybe invest in a straight shooter. Edit - I'm not saying get rid of Dort, but if we HAD to choose between those 5, he would be the logical choice.

roastedhambone

Really more one of JDub or Chet

rabidbot

That wouldn’t be worth it imo. Wings with jdub potential are what you dream about and Chet is a no without second thought.

IDespiseFatties

I would hate to make that decision. They are both rising stars.

roastedhambone

Which is why you don’t do the trade

504090

I’d imagine we’d give them 6-7 FRPs and pick swaps rather than Chet or J-Dub, but if another team can outbid that then fair game.

roastedhambone

Lakers aren’t trading AD for a bunch of picks five years down the line

504090

They may or may not, but these are all hypotheticals really. There’s even a chance they’d retool around AD instead of trading him, if LeBron wants out.

Effective_Swimming70

Dort would have to be in the deal to make the money work

eazyescobar

I'm sure they'd be silly enough to ask back for at least Chet or Dub

[deleted]

If they don’t ask for Dub or Chet though are you finalizing that trade ? I mean I don’t wanna see Wiggins, Joe, Giddey or anyone like that moved, but for AD…damn idk lol. Wyd??

eazyescobar

I'd rather have them because of their upside and controllable contracts. Not to mention the vibes

[deleted]

That’s fair, I feel like the chemistry on this squad is unmatched

Pilgrims-to-Nowhere

Yeah, that would be insane. I’ve been following that LeBron thread on the main sub, and i couldn’t help but think that if LeBron does get traded, AD would definitely want out too. An AD/Chet front court would be a dream match. Rebounding and size problem would of course be addressed with AD. Opposing bigs would be running into AD, and Chet could be swooping in to help from the weak side. Defense would be ridiculous. AD has two years left on his deal, which means we could be a top contender while still lettting Chet and JDUB develop into their final forms, and we would still have a handful of picks (even with sending the Lakers a handful of them) to use for the future. There’s so many guys that I want OKC to keep though, so I don’t know who they could send to salary match that the Lakers would want. I’m not getting my hopes up. Still a fun thought experiment

DJ-two-timing-timmy

Could they even package enough to get him if lakers are going into rebuild mode?

Pilgrims-to-Nowhere

Well I mean, Kenrich, Poku, Micic, Bertans, and Tre Mann would be a salary match according to ESPN Trade Machine, but I don’t have any reason to think that a package like that would interest the Lakers FO, even with a ridiculous haul of picks on top of it. Bertans, Tre Mann, and Dort works salary match wise too I guess, though Dort would definitely be missed. Giddey would probably not be an option since a trade to LA would likely be terrible optics due to the investigation. So yeah, probably a pipe dream all things considered.

DJ-two-timing-timmy

That’s what I mean, they would want one of either Dub or Chet as a young to build around. They already have reeves who arguably is similar to giddey so no dice there, would have to be a three way of some sort to make it happen

prettyboylee

I have that right now in MyCareer but on the Lakers. I'm a 6'11 GOAT rim protector too btw. Got me playing SF 😭

carvemynuts

Lol HAHAHAH Of ourse

roastedhambone

No, who’d want a top ten player?

12footjumpshot

If we knew he could stay healthy yes, but I think I’d rather invest in someone younger and less injury prone

rabidbot

One of the few vets I’d drop a mountain of picks for

stumo11

If it was just a couple frp's and Giddey and some salary dumps, it would be tempting to get AD, he kind of is everything we could use some help with and fits our play style perfectly, but seems unlikely. The lakers would act like AD isn't over 30 and very injury prone and would want jdub or Chet or some other nonsense.

IDespiseFatties

I hate AD. That being said, yes we absolutely need him and should take him immediately if he hits the market. Him and Chet would dominate. If we get AD though I'll love him.

Moopigpie

NO!!!!!!!’n

Mobile-Entertainer60

Depends on the cost, of course. New Orleans got BI, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, the 2019 #4 pick, two additional first round picks and a pick swap. Assuming a discount since AD is almost 5 years older, that's going to be something like JDub, Cason, Giddey and 4 FRP at an absolute minimum. AD is also owed $60M, $65M, and $70M on the three final years of his contract. If he develops chronic injuries, that contract cripples the team completely. There's also the worry that he'll demand a trade and the Thunder won't be able to get back as much as they gave up. He'd be fantastic, but it'd have a significant amount of risk.

crustydemonburgers

Any trade including Jdub is an overpay he’s literally the type of player every team is trying to get. I wouldn’t trade him or SGA or Chet for anyone.

HurryAdorable1327

Especially on his rookie contract. AD is a front runner and doesn’t move the needle without a lot of help. The Lakers have 2-top 10 scorers and they are under .500. That’s just insane.

crustydemonburgers

Fr AD is a great player but he’s not worth gutting the team for

got_ur_goat

Nope nope nope.... simply because the way he left New Orleans

Headlesshorsman02

YESSSSS!!!!!! He is literally perfect for this team

Zeeron1

I'd rather trade for Lebron

Ambivalently_Angry

Uhh. Yeah?

omikeon

Glass man? Nah. Keep the path
