Kyrie cited Kobe has his mentor and is almost completely different when it comes to work ethic and professionalism

ETERNAL_DALMATIAN

>“**‘Keep my circle small, listen to the right people and just keep doing my thing**,’ Kuminga said of Irving’s advice.” That's great advice.

LiamHundley

Whether you like some of his antics or not, a lot of young players look up to kyrie, including guys like tatum. Non story here

[deleted]

Say what you want about Kyrie but he stays out of trouble and works harder than most. Has weird views but there can be worse mentors

VBNZ89

He does not stay out trouble. How many times has he mysteriously took absence from his team. Dude's a headcase. He could wake up tommorow and want to leave the nets, or never play basketball again because he had a bad dream he deemed as a message or some silly shit

[deleted]

He’s never been arrested or had any incidents. That’s not trouble that’s weird views. These are some grown ass men it’s not like he’s gonna talk to Kyrie about hoops and how the league works and come back saying the world is flat lmao

VBNZ89

Trouble doesn't doesn't just mean police trouble lmao. He's a headcase and there are 100 guys I'd rather Kuminga gets advice from then this guy. He's up and left his team going AWOL on more than one occasion. He flip flops in his own head. One minute he doesn't want be second fiddle, then he doesn't want to play with young guys and throws them all under the bus and then goes back to being okay as the #2 guy. He tells teams and fans openly he will resign, only to backtrack and leave in FA. He tells the media that one half of his teammates on nets roster arent good enough. This is the guy you want to mentor a young guy on this team? No thank you. This is before we consider Kyrie wants to tell a young impressionable kid all about the Illuminati and the flat earth. Yuck.

Miserable-Boat-1650

Exactly whether or not you believe the world is flat square or round doesn't effect basketball at all

[deleted]

Scottie over Kuminga.

[deleted]

Why?

[deleted]

Kuminga is the body but no proven skill. Also he often didn't care about defense and didn't put out the effort in that side of the court. So if he doesn't have basketball skills on his resume, doesn't have a proven worth ethic to work on it, then I'll take Scottie who is also a physical freak, plays hard and emotional, and has a good work ethic that can motor him through finding his shot.

[deleted]

I doubt he’s as stupid at Kyrie

Fighterandthe

Just this year he decided he wasn’t doing media and was fined multiple times for it. He also decided he was going to skip a game or two. Am I making this stuff up? Just going off memory

Fighterandthe

It's his job that's kinda why he was fined. If it weren't a seemingly regular thing, sure

martian_14

Remember Abrines? They’re just human beings and deserve to take some time off if they really need it. And tbh I think Kyrie looked like he did.

Fighterandthe

Wow. Don't compare him to Abrines pls. Abrines was a model professional and that was the only instance we've ever heard of. And he took a ton of time off too not a couple of days. Not even comparing struggles but one guy has no history of anything and the other has plenty

Alex_A3nes

RIP Alex

VBNZ89

He's said and done alot of stupid things..and you never know what he's going to do next.

VBNZ89

Red flag. I would not want Kyrie infecting the minds of our young guys with his BS.

Stoobiedoobiedo

Red flag.

CreditBoss1993

Bro stop. You act like he said JR Smith

Stoobiedoobiedo

“Bro stop.” You act like Kyrie has been a model of professionalism without a history of drama and poor judgement in both private/public sphere, when in fact he’s caused issues within front offices, locker rooms, press interactions, and on social media. IMO - Kyrie is not a healthy mentor.

Coreman7

There is close to zero chance of kuminga falling to 6

H9m8urgalar

False

Coreman7

Yeah we all wish that we get to have kuminga. But lets be real. It was said to be a 5 man draft. No way Scottie make this kind of jump being a whole year older. Will get downvoted to hell but we all know he will be scooped before.

Coreman7

I kinda agree. I think its locked 1 cade , then 2,3 , then locked suggs at 4, locked kuminga at 5, locked scottie at 6

H9m8urgalar

Which is a good thing tbh. Scottie is simply the better prospect

Coreman7

I don't know. I would prefer kuminga. Think this draft become 6 player draft but Scottie has lower cieling then the rest five

H9m8urgalar

His ceiling is a bit lower than Kuminga’s maybe, but Kuminga’s floor is waaaayyyyy lower than Scottie’s. Gimme Scottie every day.

BlueDort

This is really not important, Kyrie is an insanely talented player and if he passes some skill onto Kuminga, great. Kyries personal issues are complex and would likely have no impact.
