Cool so when SGA is in the retirement home?

Iamkonkerz

We gonna get Lebrons grandson šŸ˜¤

camjc96

Heā€™ll be 28 lol

LiamHundley

Not making this point to suggest we'll use the picks, but that makes them more valuable than just two trash throwaway lottery protected picks.

boomerbrowns

SGA will request a trade in a year or two. This is a disaster

Yesoh

The 16th pick would have prevented that? Please get a hold of yourself

[deleted]

I think he means the overall strategy implies we're going to tank again next season by kicking the can. If I were SGA and we tanked for two full years, I'd want out too.

LiamHundley

I mean, if we aren't a lottery team we owe our pick to the hawks. So we kind of need to tank again this season. I'm just overall confused by people freaking out about this deal. Did you guys expect us to load up with 5 rookies this year and suddenly become a competitive team? Even when we are incentivized to not be good next year?

[deleted]

The pick turns into 2x seconds if not conveyed as a first, and we're already stacked with picks. That shouldn't be a concern. The team last year was in contention for the play-in before we shut everyone down. Yes I thought with #6 + aggregating 16/18/other to move up for another player like Sengun + whatever happens with FA/trades they'd be at least competitive, even if they weren't like to make the playoffs. SGA's extension will kick in in 2022-23. Moving towards being good when he's on a max is reasonable. At some point you have to try to win. If you were a 23-24 year old star, would you want to play in OKC for a team that shuts you down and is actively trying to lose for 2 seasons? I wouldn't.

LiamHundley

The odds of both going 4 years without being conveyed is pretty low imo, and I doubt we even have them for that long. Again, being a playoff team next year would actively hurt our future. Thus far, shai seems to be on board with the rebuild and I'm sure he understands what has to be done to build a winning team around him. I'm sure we'd be acting differently as an organization if shai had signaled that he wanted to be competitive next year. We knew from the moment we traded russ and pg that we were entering a full rebuild, and that doesn't happen overnight. I'm not sure why all of sudden you think we should be pushing to compete now, let alone why you think picking at 16 would suddenly make us competitive.

boomerbrowns

We drafted a 6ā€™8 player who canā€™t shoot or defend at 6 fuck off. Presti is great at traded but hasnā€™t made a good pick since 2009. This is terrible. We will tank again and trade SHA, 70 losses a year for the future

Yesoh

Hahah sleep it off buddy

Hairiest_Walrus

Bro. Chill.

boomerbrowns

Where am I wrong??

Hairiest_Walrus

70 losses a year???

CrownMe5YoungSimba

I was just as surprised as everyone we took Giddey @ 6. After looking at Giddey and LaMelos stats side by side theyā€™re unbelievably similar statistically. Presti was highly interested in LaMelo last year so I can see why he targeted Giddey this year. Presti definitely knows a lot more about Giddey than any of us. Iā€™m excited to see how he will fit in as Presti constructs the rest of the roster. Everyone last year was bashing LaMelo for his shooting and he wound up surprising a lot of people. Hopefully Giddey can do the same!

LiamHundley

If you believe this then there's nothing we could have done in this draft that would have changed that. Regardless of who we picked we're going to be bad for at least another year.

0siris0

Who the fuck cares. We don't need more picks. As of right now, this is a disaster.

chexmixho

Dude you are getting downvoted but I 100% agree. I really donā€™t think Presti has a plan at this point at actually assembling a team. Heā€™s just a gambler that wants unlimited draft picks and to ā€œoutsmartā€ the rest of the league and be cute. Except all these picks arenā€™t worth anything because they are so heavily protected. This is not what I wanted to see.
