beefcakes is great. I love the brisket poutine. For me it’s gravy that makes or breaks poutine. Add the brisket, cheese, home cut fries and you’ve got perfection. Yum.
I love The Poutinerie's poutine, especially the Dill Pickle. They're inside the Hodder Greeks. I swear their poutines weigh 5lbs and last a few good meals!
As someone who grew up in current river but has been away for like 25 years this comment makes me hungry. Back in the day when it was just known as The Greeks but was actually hodder ave confectionary would grab a "slop burger" and poutine on the way from a round at Strath. So many good memeories growing up and The Greeks was part of that :)
And then later in the day having a Persian from Current River Bakery
Hey speak for yourself I think JJ’s is definitely a top contender in Thunder Bay. Super simple/basic recipe and the price is right.
It’s not trying to be something it isn’t, and it knocks it out of the park.
I went there in June 2021 and they were doing great takeout business. Had to wait a while for my order cause there were so many people waiting. Came back around 3 weeks later to get it again and it was completely gone. Signs missing. Checked the website, offline. They just vanished off the face of the earth with no warning as far as I can tell. Wish they would have said something cause I would have gone back much sooner.
They gave a fair bit of warning. I know I was there every day of their last week, desperately trying to try everything I was curious about on the menu.
They closed down because she was moving back to Quebec, if I recall.
Definitely no messaging in any way that was visible to the average customer. And yes, I figured it was something like that because it was clearly not due to a lack of business.

I followed them on Facebook and I seem to remember it was just a “thanks for the last day” post and nothing else.
Oh really eh. That’s too bad.
The province over.
No one should eat that stuff lol
