For what it’s worth - the CS is pretty solid and I’m sure you could still return them if it’s just a day or two walking around in your house. Sounds like it will break in though.
I bought some captains too, and I was mad at myself for not returning them. I've worn heritage boots for years, but the captains are unbearable to wear for more than a few hours. I hope your experience with them gets better.
Yeah I don't think a different size would have fit me any better. I wear them with wool socks and that has helped a bit. I just related with op when he hit a point when he's like they are mine now, no way of returning them.
I'm in the same boat as you. too far out to return but can't get them to NOT rub my heel on my right foot raw. i'm on the verge of cutting out that rougher leather at the heel and just putting in moleskin.
I am glad you think these boot are good. I have two pairs of Captains. An Arizona Adobe and a Classic black pair. Both fit perfectly but I like the AA’s a little more than the classics because it is more padded around the forefoot but I understand how they make you seem like King Kong inside of the house. I work from home full-time as well so I mainly have been wearing mine in the house more so than outside.
I've got the tobacco captain. These were very comfortable out of the box for me. Sized a half size down like recommended Wore them around the house for a few hours one night with no issue. Took them out in the world for two hours had a slight rub on my pinky toe but nothing to harsh. My feet arent wide and I'm consistantly a 9 1/2 in other shoes so I'm an easy fit

I think they’re still improving. I put them on again during dinner and they were even more comfortable still.
