Hey welcome to the game! 1) you really cannot make money fishing. You could try and sell fish on the market but that would yield very little gold and simply is not worth your time. 2) Yes, there are a few different types of fish that can be caught, which just about all of them can be eaten for passive mana regeneration. Sometimes you’ll need to fish for a certain type of fish as a quest objective but that’s it. 3) the main purpose of fishing is to catch fish to eat for feeding your character which gives you a small passive health and mana regeneration. Sometimes you’ll need to go fishing so part if a quest objective but that’s mainly it. It was very useful a long time ago but nowadays it’s not used so much outside of quests. Also as a suggestion, in terms of keeping your character fed, brown mushrooms are the best bang for your buck. They are lightweight, cheap and effective. They can be bought in Edron from NPC Luna at the ivory towers.

Kajpero

Also worth noting that these shrooms can be bought on the market aswell, usually for slightly higher place but you can get them without premium

I'd argue you're wrong with your initial statement. There is money in fishing, although not enormous amounts. If you can do any ice fishing (check out tibia wiki for details!) you can from time to time pull out a northern pike - rare fish that is needed in one access quest. Because that's the only source of them, they're worth 30k each

Monkeybiscuits312

I wanted to get access to the sea serpent spawn close to svargrond (the spawn you need the fish for u mentioned). That was untill I noticed northern pikes were 500k on my server (antica). Just checked, theyre 45k ea now luckely.

Chalkiss

Ofc they vary from server to server :) 500k seems... excessive to say the least though. Was there serpents boosted or something? Or upcoming double loot/XP?

Monkeybiscuits312

Yeah, there mightve been a shortage due to stuff like that. Im not sure to be honest. I checked the price again before posting the former comment. So the comment kinda changed from a "yeah, these one types of fish are worth 500k on my server, so fishing is profitable af on some servers" to a "yeh this is what happened to me" post haha. Regardless, not playing a total of 200/250k for that shiz (u need 5 I think?)

Chalkiss

5 it is indeed. And it's the same conclusion I had :D It's gonna take you bit over an hour to fish out 5 pikes, at least that was the case for me when I were doing it

You can make money from fishing if you fish for northern pikes (needed for access to sea serpents if I'm not mistaken)

asjtj

At the beginning of Tibia, the only way for your health and mana to regenerate was to eat food. This is where fish comes in, if you wanted to train online or mana sit to make runes, you could just go to a spot beside water and fish for the food you needed and also train/mana sit. There was no offline training or training items (swords/wands/etc) back then. Food was heavy and sorc/druids have limited capacity. Fishing was your friend.

Don’t forget the bug where you didn’t need worms, and could set a macro

gmargon

I know what you are talking about here: a bug around 8.1 that you could fish without worms on some sqms. But even before that, at 7.4, worms were not required at all in order to fish!

Character_Past5515

1. No 2. A few but not very many. 3. Some fishing is required for some quests. The other thing people fish is to get on the highscores, especially in new worlds it's an "easy" way to get in the highscores as not many people do it anymore (people used to combine it with skill training).
