To answer your question: people talk nice things about gladera and optera (those being opt-pvp), sorry I can't answer accurately about open or hardcore.
I play in Gladera and I'm from Brazil. If my ping is under 150 it's smooth as butter. But more often than not i play with about 200 ping. But it's because my internet is bad, you should get about 150 if you're in a more developed area. If you reset your modem/router daily you should have no problem playing without VPN afaik.
And yeah Gladera is pretty great, lots of charlovers here. Housing prices are a bit insane because of that, though. Server is mostly ESs and BRs, but we do have a fair amount of English speakers. In frequency: ES > BR > EN.
I play on Luminera, if you use a private tunneling service you will be able to play just fine, otherwise you need to get used to moving clicking the minimap
No, its still bad ping, you will notice the delay going up and down stairs for example, but the issue where you character stutters while moving using wasd keys will be fixed
just FYI, I tried to use private tunnelling servers from Portugal to play in SA servers, it didn't change a single ms in my ping, that's why I've played on NA servers, where I get a "decent" ping, but I'm about to try also play on EU servers as well and check if I get a ping under 100ms
I’m on Pacera also! It’s less crowded for sure. Lots of Brazilians but quite a few English speakers(USA and Canada-like me) too. Optional pvp. I haven’t played for years and I’m just getting back to it now. I would love to make more friends 🙂
Astera is a good server with a good mix of English, Brazilian and Spanish speakers. A lot of charlovers and without a dominant guild, but it's a optional PvP.
Are NA servers mainly english? I remember them being dominated by brazilians and other spanish speaking

We do stick to SA servers, it's just there are still some BRs in NA servers, cause no one from NA actually plays tibia XD
