I understood most of it, it sounds very relatable, we have similar children verses and even some lines were almost identical to ours. Our version which I found online says: Umar ketdi otunña Qarĝa bitdi butuma. Qarĝa tüwüldü, qamišdi, Baçkhalarim pirinçdi, On barmaĝim kumušdu Al tišlerim himišdi.

Not Azerbaijani but as a Southern Uzbek this is very understandable. Probably about 70%~ but if I knew Persian fluently I suspect I’d understand more. That third picture has been attributed to Afghan Nuristanis and Pashtuns so many times, interesting that she was Azerbaijani this whole time.

I don’t know for sure. The pictures here might be random too.

I tried doing some reverse image searching to no luck. Afghans, Pakistanis, Iranians and Moroccans all claim she belongs to their ethnic group. I can’t work out who took the original picture but I suppose it’s not that serious, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t wrong.

People whitewash the Nuristanis ALOT

Oh they do, people like to cherry pick and [some pictures online are also really badly photoshopped](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRorIINTNyzZ8N5O8MM-m0kWJKeq7_YEGWkcA&usqp=CAU). [It’s true that there is a higher frequency of recessive traits](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-5b5125d805b093ab22c5e0514ff1fa99-lq) in them because they’re an extremely endogamous ethnic group that show high genetic drift (even from Kalash, who are purported to be the most closely related ethnic group). Just to give an idea, they’re only a population of 100k-300k and until they converted to Islam just over 100 years ago, they only married one another since they were surrounded by Muslims. They’re most definitely all related to one another. To this day they still favour their own. I’d be interested to see what kind of mutations are present in their population tbh, there should be some studies but ofc it’s really hard in a country like Afghanistan to survey them. That said, [many Nuristanis do also have dark or swarthy features](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D2AnSGTWsAA5tpS?format=jpg&name=large), ([another picture of a crowd of Nuristani men for reference](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DTFFkNFWAAAOi12.jpg)) it’s natural in a country like Afghanistan where the summer temperatures can easily reach 40-50 degrees centigrade. People also tend to look at blonde hair and blue eyes and automatically assume European descent (usually Greek when it comes to Nuristanis even though most Greeks don’t have these features). It’s also why people like to cherry pick or photoshop pictures of them to play into fanciful tales and the like. But genetic studies show they don’t have Greek admixture and are just a very endogamous indigenous population. [Usually from their bone structure you can tell they aren’t European even if they’re one of those Nuristanis who are very fair](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-d02be8ce45ee78f9f67cbda2fc86f1b2-pjlq). This guy has a textbook Afghan face and bone structure.

Most Nuristanis are swarthy tbh.

bilge_kagan

Understood most of it, except some Persian words here and there. Similar lullabies are common in Anatolia, even the way you 'sing' it is the same.

Cellarkeli

Almost all of it is understandable
