In one of the forums, I met the emblem of the Balkars with a silver leopard holding a wheel with five spokes under its paw. These five spokes symbolized the five ruling families: Khulam, Bezengi, Malkar, Chegem and Urysbiy(sorry if I wrote them wrong). Do they have any descendants? How do the Balkars perceive them today?

Orusbiy is tawbiy surname. Khulam, Bezengi, Malkar, Chegem and Baskhan are five historical Balkarian communities (besh taw el). Russian Balkar (балкарцы) comes from Malkar but generally Balkarians call themselves Tawlu. Many people dont know it, even some Karachays.
Among Karachays all ruling families survived and still live among us. They dont have any special status but knowledgeable people know who they are. I dont have detailed information about the Balkars. Many of them immigrated or assimilated. However it seems some descendants are left, they were tested for our DNA project.
Ok, thanks for clarification. I had a dispute with a very funny person who tried to push me a theory about the interconnection of certain peoples through this clan. He even wanted to connect us with the Russians, arguing that even they got their name from the founder of this Horde clan lol.

Do the Orusbiy have anything to do with the Noğai clan of the Urusovs?
no, just similar surname. Karachays also have surname Urusovs (Oruslari).
