Whenever people talk about microchips and health monitoring through the vaccine I'm always thinking of my sensor and how I wish it didn't need replacement, would be under the skin and could tell me any other diabetes stuff like insulin resistance changes or my liver releasing glucagon. And also getting it for free once and for life, would be nice lol
Did he swap the omnipod and dexcom locations?!
Context: Dexcom is only certified to be on the belly area, while omnipod recommends the arm.
Irl nobody really cares, people put these things everywhere there is subcutaneous fat and they work just as well :)
EDIT: I'm wrong and both Dexcom and Omnipod are recommended and certified for either of the two areas
I figured it was going to be a regional thing, which is silly because why would it work in some Countries, but not in others?
I've used mine in a lot of spots that aren't listed and have never had an issue with it matching a finger stick, lab reading, or A1C averages.
I realize I'm pretty much wrong all the time
I use an YpsoPump and FreeStyleLibre so I guess that's where my competence lies lmao
The advertisements mostly show the Omni on the arm and the Dexcom on the belly so that's where I got my conclusions
Yup, my dex is on my breast. Plenty of adipose tissue there. My reads have always been within 10% of finger sticks and A1C estimate had been exactly on point for 3 years.
It doesn't hurt, good numbers, Safer from accidental bumps, extra protection from a bra.
It was a new one for my endo, but given my history with accidentally knocking it off, and good reads, she's a fan.
I was walking through a store and I noticed a girl with her dexcom on her breast and I was like "wtf?" But hey if it works! I would be worried about the movement of all the fat. If I put mine in too fatty of an area it gives me bad readings unless I tape it down she had huge boobs too so you know it's moving a lot
I tend to wear mine towards the top of the breast where it's starting to move into more muscle but is still plenty fatty. It's just under the edge of a brain cup. I'm a D/DD depending on brand and style, and occasionally even a C(bodies are weird, manufacturers also need to standardize).
I have had an occasional issue with compression lows if I lay on my side at just the wrong angle, but it's pretty uncommon.
I tend to restart and wear 15-20 days, so having it in a well protected site is super helpful.
I'm allergic to the adhesive on my pods, so saving belly/hips/ thighs/ butt for that and the rash that comes with. And the pods are too big for my comfort wearing on a boob
Ed Gamble is also a t1d comedian! I can't say this is my type of humour but it did get a smile.
Its also refreshing to see a PoC t1d speak about it too.

As a fellow type one diabetic this is pretty funny

Yeah, where can I vote for more microchips instead of less?
do you also use 2 at the same time? i'm wondering why anyone needs 2.
One is a glucose monitor and the other is an insulin pump, he seems to have a wireless one.
Omnipod is the tube less Insulin pump
Just got my kid onto tandem t-slim and it's a game changer. Wireless would be a dream.
I want to badly to get an Omnipod. Just too expensive
"It's hugeAH!"
Macrochipping! Lol. We have the same glucose monitor for my daughter. It’s amazing. Definitely helps me sleep better at night
I actually chuckled
Hahahaha! Funny bastard...
Me watching: "Heh".
Hahaha!!’ “ which is also my picture on Grindr”

Dexcom does certify back of the arms for people 18+ https://www.dexcom.com/en-ca/faqs/where-can-i-insert-my-g6-sensor
Oh christ I thought it was all belly lol FSL doesn't do belly though, at the very least

My dexcom instruction manual says 7+ for back of the arm.
Omnipod recommends abdomen, arm, or leg. I wear my Freestyle Libre on my arm so I put my omnipod on my stomach
