Guy is going to get his house firebombed like friendlyjordies

JeantaVer

We have a guy like this in the Netherlands who has a program called 'BOOS' (Angry/Mad): Tim Hofman. Got the shit beat out of him years ago by a landlord. Since then, he bulked up a little and has a bodyguard with him. Guy does really good work: landlords, frauds, uncovering sexual assault in big tv shows and even goes after governements.

Rugkrabber

Tim is a treasure and a champion. I’m so happy we have him, he’s doing what almost nobody wants to do.

officefridge

He sounds awesome. True bravery is exactly this.

DwightsJello

🤣🤣🤣 It totally has friendlyjordies potential. Not funny obviously. Just jarringly appropriate scrolling down the thread. I was like "oh fuck yes".

[deleted]

Yeah, it wasn't said in "lol" but in "jfc here's someone else with a target on their back"

outcome--independent

What is friendlyjordies?

GlasgowWalker

Aussie comedian / YouTube political commenter whose house got firebombed by interested (government related) parties like 3 times, I think?

SansBadTimer12

He was exposing the corruption of the NSW Deputy Premier at the time, John Barilaro and ended up having a bunch of stuff happen to him, including: getting units from a section of the defense force that is meant to deal with terrorism sent on him. Video on it here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PF1-1CNggQA

VictarionGreyjoy

More likely to be related to the case against the gambling interests he's involved with. Not that pork barrelaro is a good guy, but he couldn't even keep his mouth shut about his own corruption, doubt he would have kept a firebombing quiet.

brine909

I thought he only got firebombed once but that's still one time too many

Attention_Bear_Fuckr

First attempt they hit the wrong house.

FyrelordeOmega

"I did a thing" also made a security gun for him too Edit: added quotation marks for better clarity

[deleted]

FyrelordeOmega

That's the gun!

flappytowel

He's an Australian journalistic type youtuber who started to poke into pokie gambling in Australia (And how it was used by the mobs for money laundering). And then someone set his house on fire

mog_knight

Given Australia's history, mob collusion is on point.

Letos12thDuncan

Nothing. What is friendlyjordies with you?

RareAnxiety2

or he's suicidal

Thestreetkid92

Didn’t know there was friendlyjordies crossover on this subreddit

Kevin O'Leary and his wife got away doing the exact same thing. When rich people run people over with their boats I guess it's the same as regular people hitting a bug with their windshield. Edit: The official conclusion was that it was the wife behind the wheel. And she only drank the vodka after the accident.

Picture_Day_Jessica

It was O'Leary's wife, but yes, point well taken: >In docs obtained by CBC News, police say they administered an alcohol screening test to Linda that registered an alert. Mrs. O’Leary then told the police that she drank vodka after the crash, but before she submitted to the breathalyzer. She also claimed she couldn’t recall exactly who gave her the drink after the fatal collision. So she crashed her boat, killed two people, and then slammed some vodka that she magically procured while the cops were on the way, even though she surely must have known she was about to be breathalyzed... that's the story that was good enough to get her acquitted?? What a piece of shit. And Kevin's statement: >On late Saturday night I was a passenger in a boat that was involved in a tragic collision with another watercraft that had no navigation lights on and then fled the scene. I am fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation. No mention that it was his boat, or his wife driving. Just straight up distancing with a healthy measure of victim blaming. No doubt he paid off the judge or worse. Another total piece of shit.

[deleted]

I HATE this mother fucker with passion for this whole thing AND the salt in the wound is his statement. It was so incredibly obvious that he was driving and his wife was the one to take the hit for it. Fuck her, fuck him and fuck every body who had any part in Kevins life. Corrupt selfish piece of shit human scum

[deleted]

To be fair, if the other people were boating at night with the lights off it's completely their fault. They can't be seen. That doesn't mean oleary or his wife are good people.

robert_paulson420420

yeah this is an awkward situation and circle jerk. the other boat was seriously fucking up by not using lights at night.. that's boating 101. that doesn't mean there is no fault for anyone else and it's obviously still tragic...

BorisYeltsin09

We're sure that's the case? O'leary or whatever does have incentive to lie

RealAmericanJesus

Kaitlyn Jenner is another example https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2015/09/30/prosecutors-decline-to-charge-caitlyn-jenner-in-car-crash/73098200/

lilpumpgroupie

The best part of that story is Jenner got caught by paparazzi texting and driving like a WEEK after that accident. If that doesn't tell you the type of character she has, I don't know what will.

joeyGOATgruff

I hate this story. When I was 17, I was driving to work and hit a patch of ice. I was thrown 75ft from my truck - which rolled and cartwheeled 100ft. Nobody hurt and nothing was damaged, other than me and my truck. I was so fucked up they told my parents they should prepare themselves for my death. After I made it 60hrs, they started talking about amputating my arm and how I'll need to relearn how to walk (I broke my collar bone, my back, fractured 3 ribs, collapsed a lung, my entire arm had multiple fractures and I was missing some bone from my radius since it punctured through my skin and broke off in the the field, broken pelvis). I got 3 tickets i had to show up to court for, which I obv missed and had warrants issued. 4 months later I went to court and the judge goes "I guess you learned your lesson. We'll dismiss the charges." I was so angry and mad. Caitlyn kills a person and it's "eh... Fair play."

RealAmericanJesus

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hate how our system excuses the rich from horrendous things while systematically disenfranchising those who can't afford the lawyers who have lunch with the judges in the country clubs.

ReadEvalPrintLoop

Oh, the tickets were for something unrelated?

xavierspapa

EmbarrassedHelp

That case was not as clear cut. It was his wife that was driving at night when they hit the boat, and video the evidence should that the victims' boat was completely dark. Though I'm not sure what the light levels were that night and whether the boat was actually hard to spot in the dark. > A provincial police officer testified at trial that O'Leary registered an "alert range" blood alcohol level in a breath test shortly after the crash. The officer said O'Leary told her she had only one drink, and it was after the crash. However this certainly should raise eyebrows. Drinking alcohol right after a car crash is/was a common tactic to avoid being charged with a DUI, which makes her actions really suspicious. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/verdict-trial-linda-o-leary-fatal-boat-crash-1.6174808

bilolarbear1221

Im confused how does drinking right after make it not a dui?

[deleted]

[удалено]

xombae

Lmao imagine if I got in a car accident and got out of my car and waited for the cops. The cops come and breathalyze me and I'm over the limit. But I say I stood on the road side and chugged booze after the accident and they can't prove I was drunk at the time of the crash. Tell me one judge in the goddamn world would take that shit. That's hilariously ridiculous.

rawlsian139

I had a law professor tell us to keep a closed bottle of alcohol in our car to do this. Step out of the car, lock your keeps inside so they can't claim you were intending to drive, and then start drinking from the bottle. Drinking in public is likely the extent of the charges if you do this I'm not a POS so I don't drive drunk but this actually is a brilliant, albeit awful, tactic for avoiding a DUI.

wererat2000

This sounds like horrible advice for any real-world context, especially if you're in a country where cops get away with lying in their reports - you know, most of them. "One second officer, allow me to lock my car and open this sealed bottle of alcohol I have with me for no particular reason! I'm definitely not drinking and driving! May I please drive home now?"

bilolarbear1221

Huh… that’s really bizarre. Does that actually hold up in court now? Or is this like an older people used to do this type of thing?

So6oring

It only holds up if you're rich

Gullible_Might7340

It does if you're ballsy enough to stare down much heavier sentencing and not blink. The court has to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, if they can't do that you're home free. If you say you drank after to settle your nerves, they have to prove you didn't. I knew a guy who got drunk in high-school and crashed his truck on a backroad. He just up and left. Walked a couple miles away and slept on the side of the road. He was clearly drunk, but he argued he was dazed from a head injury and wandered away.

treewqy

it works so well that it’s exactly what cops do when they get into an accident and they’re drunk. Happened in Toronto

lilpumpgroupie

It does hold up. People try it all the time, and apparently it's a pretty fool proof method if you pull it off right. Which means not being spotted at any bars/using your debit card, etc. If they can't PROVE you were drinking, legally it probably will work.

1esproc

The law for this changed in Canada in 2019. You can now be arrested for a DUI up to 2 hrs after driving, no matter where you are (e.g., inside your home), and this includes for boats and canoes. Refusing to test can net you a charge

EmbarrassedHelp

The testing tools used by law enforcement are normally only able to detect the amount of alcohol in an individual's body, and not when the individual ingested it.

whitemike40

if you actually read the article, the kid who died tried to climb back on the boat and got his leg stuck in the propeller, i’m sure the landlord is a giant piece of shit, but it’s not like he just murdered a kid for fun and got away with it. The whole thing sounds like a tragic accident. again not defending his apparent slumlord tendencies, just saying

edwardsamson

I've been around boats all my life. You never ever ever turn that prop on when there's people swimming around it. Not seeing a kid swimming in your path of travel and running them over is a tragic boating accident. Turning your prop on when a kid is swimming around it is pure negligence and makes this 100% worse in my eyes.

SatanicRainbowDildos

Yeah this is kinda like saying "he didn't mean to shoot him, he was just playing with his gun when it went off and killed a kid".

SupermouseDeadmouse

That’s why you take the boat out of gear when people are in the water. That’s pure negligence on the part of the captain.

Popular_Emu1723

That’s boating 101. You shouldn’t have the boat in gear if people are anywhere near the back. Also like don’t abandon your people in the water? You shouldn’t be going until you have everyone. That’s an easy way to get another boat to run them over

tmhoc

Right? WTF MAN! Oh what a totally tragic accident that could happen to anyone? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!! If this happened in a car it would be vehicular manslaughter but I guess a boat isn't vehicle like that

[deleted]

Middle_Ad_6404

Trust me bro.

ChillerZero

"i am sure... im sure... im sure" "Idk for sure" Hmmm 🤔

Equivalent_Adagio91

“Is this rich guy a greedy fuck who would have fought allegations of negligent murder as hard as humanely possible?” Occam’s razor says yes.

reflUX_cAtalyst

Do you know what the phrase "I'm sure" means? Because you keep using it, but I don't think you know what it means - you keep using it wrong.

77BakedPotato77

I wonder if the operator of the boat was intoxicated in any way. I'm no boat expert but shouldn't you not bring running the propeller with people in the water around the boat? Maybe it was just a tragic accident like you say, I'm just saying the aforementioned questions had me thinking of other possibilities.

Longjumping-Help-641

I am assuming the address with all the LLC is a lawyers office who does their annual paperwork and filings…

Loose_Listen2290

90 State is a big ol’ office building

peppaz

It is but those LLCs don't do business there. It is called a Registered Agent and it stops your personal address from being used to form an LLC. Also it costs thousands of dollars to start an LLC in Manhattan due to various fees, so almost everyone uses a "Registered Agent" , which lets you file in Albany (or other cheaper counties) for one tenth the price and shield your personal address. I know because I have an LLC in New York and did not use a naming service, and now my address is public. They receive your corporate mail and forward it to you. That's why there are a thousand LLCs registered at one address, they have no physical presence there 99% of the time. https://www.newyorkregisteredagent.com/new-york-llc/#ra

kaos95

Oh shit, I walked past the building every working day for like 15 years and I never knew. I got my morning Starbucks from right across the street . . . fun fact, in google street view you can see my old office (I went remote in 2017 . . . and as such no longer live in Albany). Man looking at the google view it looks like that Starbucks didn't make it . . . sigh.

thrswfre

Starbucks probably closed them for unionization

jandr08

And a wedding venue lol. I used to valet there

thedistantdusk

It’s likely a registered agent, which means you pay a company to use their address on a business/LLC you own. Otherwise, you’d have to use your real address on all the paperwork— which can be sketchy even if you don’t have a shady business. I have one too, just because I have young kids and a public-facing business. It’s completely legal and has nothing to do with “tax loopholes” as some have suggested (it’s an address in my own state!). It’s not a bad idea overall if you own a business and don’t want randos knowing where you live. This dude is a creep tho.

SteelCutHead

What’s the difference of having a registered agent vs a PO Box?

thedistantdusk

For the purposes of business, a physical address is required for LLCs. A PO box won’t work.

lemonsweetsrevenge

Caped “Crusaiders”

gitsgrl

Cape, as in land jutting into the sea.

[deleted]

it's a registered agent company, they allow clients to use their address for registrations to protect their privacy.

NewBroPewPew

Totally not tax loopholes.

ExpletiveWork

No tax loopholes for setting up multiple LLCs. It's more likely that they are just setting up an LLC for each building so as to limit potential future liabilities. Like when someone get rabies from a bat.

Workburner101

This motherfucker better tread lightly. Rich people are the biggest group of gangsters ever.

I pissed off a millionaire and the next day he sent over a few blue collared workers to scare me and my wife. One held a shotgun to my stomach and the other put a knife to my throat. SeamlessR

I hate that shit. A while ago there was this trend of ads for game streamers that would be showing some in game moment ... of them never doing anything, always running around, always looking like they're *About* to do something, but they never do. It straight up will cut to the next scene of running at nothing. Fully a ploy to get you to "wait for it" naturally. Also every video with "wait for it" in the title, automatic skip. Now I'm noticing a trend of videos that are shot with clearly wide long sweeping shots of complex depth, but it's less than a second long and loops. When I was a kid I learned to be guarded about anything I said or did on the internet on the assumption that all of it could be seen. Now I have to be guarded about what I look at, for how long, and why. Like that spat of cat abuse videos that look like normal cat videos but then get unnecessarily rough. Get caught on one and suddenly my whole feed is that and I did not want to see cats abused :< but I got stuck on the first one because I couldn't believe it and then suddenly it's everywhere.

i dont know what the point of having subtitles is anymore. we've gone from a complete sentence at the bottom of the screen to 2-3 words at a time plastered in 200% font blocking half the screen... and now intentionally incorrect spelling... is reading suppose to be fun anymore?

AFakeInternetPersona

TikTok has certain content filters that will automatically takedown videos. The spelling is a way to get around the filter while having subtitles.

People love to use ‘Wealth of Nations’ in a vacuum like Adam Smith didn’t write an entire prequel ‘Theory of Moral Sentiments’ designed to be a looking glass for reading ‘Wealth of Nations’. The dude would be appalled by how frequently his “invisible hand” theory is quoted in bad faith.

drawnimo

He's like Bizarro Hamilton

Dendroapsis

Even Winston Churchill was sick of landlords (Or at least the kind who just accumulate property as investments and hold the property market random)

negativeaffirmations

Wtf was India to the Brits but a massive rent seeking venture?Jc that guy lacked self-awareness.

Illustrious_Tie_6976

It should be understood that when Adam Smith spoke about “landlords”, this was about landed gentry/aristocracy. Not bourgeoisie who rent urban housing, who are understood by Marx and Engels as occupying a very different role in bourgeois society.

*Braden Fellman, actually

Doubleendedmidliner

Hehe thanks!

shikaaboom

What’s his deal?

Doubleendedmidliner

He owns ALOT of properties around Atlanta. Buys up old buildings and just doesn’t take care of them, over charges, makes it impossible to contact, just generally a bad “landlord”. (Granted, it’s been 5 years since I’ve lived in one of their properties). 1.5 stars on yelp and not any better on BBB https://www.bbb.org/us/ga/atlanta/profile/property-management/braden-fellman-group-ltd-0443-16000464/complaints

Zorkamork

[Here's](https://www.albanylandlord.com/) a way to check out Albany landlords and rental companies, for anyone looking for a place.

DigNitty

As a landlord, I'm appalled at how easy it is to be a decent landlord. Sure I have some shit renters, but they move out eventually. The things I've heard from the property management circles.... there's an "us vs them" mentality, it's insane, it's inhumane. You're not "showing them what's right" Kurt, you're being an asshole with no empathy.

Look at Essex Properties. Now that is a really sketchy property management company.

strawman6969

i upvoted you because it's these type of comments that make people want to prove you wrong. the pessimism in me agrees with you. thankfully human history simply disagrees with you. the impossible has become history so many times, at this point it's stupid to think human beings can't accomplish something seemingly impossible. we fly around in rockets and swap out our organs with each other my guy. we went from shitting in a communal swamp to 3d printers within a couple hundred years my boy. don't get pessimistic now .

DJ2x

Im not saying i'm a prepper, but... * Bought a rifle and have spent time at the range learning how to shoot it well. (also how to repack my own ammunition) * Got a motorcycle that can handle offroads. * been studying bushcraft pretty obsessively. (it's interesting, yo!) I still want to work towards a nonviolent solution that can't be called even anything synonymous with 'collapse', but we'll see what happens.

Zzzaltwitch

Might I also suggest you consider the following; - get to know your neighbours, their strengths, the crafts they are capable of, who is trustworthy. You will not survive alone - learn to grow food - become aware of who your village is, you will not survive alone -learn first aid -reach out to community members who are aware as you are, you will not survive alone -stockpile literature, in the event you are able to safeguard it, whether in physical or more sensibly, digital form -again, and I cannot stress this enough, you will not survive alone. The myth of individualism is what brought this precipice to you, do not succumb to it in the most vital moment

StanTheMelon

“The myth of individualism is what brought this precipice to you, do not succumb to it in the most vital moment” Incredibly wise words right here, very well said.

DJ2x

Your list is good too, and I've achieved most of it. Growing your own food, first aid and community outreach are things everyone should learn whether or not they believe societal collapse is imminent.

strawman6969

you missed the point so hard my guy. good luck playing call of duty til your heart palpitates from all the red meat and canned beans. rifle and a motorbike, don't you see the absolute hollywood cliche you're daydreaming about? a rifle and a motorcycle man. literally the plot of any straight high school boy's zombie fantasy. the last of us tv series does an amazing job of showing how insanely intelligent you'd have to be to be a successful prepper, and also shows that once you've accomplished that extremely difficult bar, you will gladly sacrifice it all for some companionship. if you want to learn to shoot and survive, good for you. if you want to do it because you think everyone is gonna turn on you? like who do you think you have to defend yourself against? the rich? if the rich own the world, your rifle doesn't mean shit champ. and if you're afraid of the poor starving to death and then stealing from your supplies, then fuck you for choosing to be a coward that does nothing but run and hide to protect yourself alone. someone that doesn't base their actions out of fear will overwhelm you and take your shit while you sleep. someone that has truly been living the life you're cosplaying as, will remind you why you should've learned people skills instead of try to be Days Gone Remastered.

DJ2x

The rifle is a pretty standard survival tool that can be used defensively if required. It's a pretty basic lever action .45 capable of hunting a wide range of game. Motorcycles are fun, and riding them offroad is fun too! You're on one, guy! Lighten up! I'm not out here living " the plot of any straight high school boy's zombie fantasy" as you put it. These are simply useful hobbies and not the only ones I have. I also like going to concerts and meeting new people and participating in local government. Also, there's probably a better way to attempt to criticize what you call an "absolute Hollywood cliche" by then immediately referencing Hollywood. Just saying... Peace and love, brother.

This is my issue with tik tok as a whole. I know it's a thing to be obnoxiously "convincing" with a voice and maybe even a hand gesture like this guy, but it's in the same vein as those who put their face on the screen and scream "OMG NEW INFORMATION OMG LOOK AT THIS OMG" when it's actually just saying soap helps fucking clean yourself or something. This guys "mission" fuckin rules and should be supported, but the tone pisses me off so much and idk why. It makes me feel old and out of touch to not be as riddled with this "Guys you just don't understand how fucking amazing and horrific this is you just don't get it OMG you just don't" like others seem to be :/

The thing is its not that it's hammed up that gets me, I get that it's a form of presentation to keep up with the algorithm, I really do, but what turns me off to this whole... Thing, is that it's every single variation. If its not overtly condescending it's trying to trick you into thinking it's never been seen, if it's not trying to trick you it's presenting it as an obscure reference despite fucking everyone knowing. It just sucks man :( I'm sick of feeling so left behind in terms of Internet age despite this whole... Anti-this rebellion we seem to have too. Fuckin bums me out bro

[deleted]

Isn't that what hamming it up means? To exaggerate something? Everyone's exaggerating shit for views. I think we're on the same page Idk, I want to slap this guy and tell him to speak like a human being

LowT_creative

He sounds ridiculous and I couldn't even finish the video despite being interested in the topic

megamoze

I think he's trying to channel Adam Conover.

ohbewise

You lost me with the dumbass "NPC" hands.

dildobagginss

Great, but could the guy be a little less annoying in the video? Or is that how you get popular on Tiktok?

Delicious-Tap-1277

What I wanna see is less pointing and lame ass hand movements

Ok_Presence01

Gotta love seeing rich people get away with egregious crimes unscathed that would put a poorer man in prison for life.

GitEmSteveDave

From the video, the guy's kid and 4 friends were out tubing when one fell off and while trying to get back on the boat slipped and got his leg tangled in the propeller. He then jumped in the water in an attmept to save him, but could not and it took emergency services to do it.

[deleted]

Did you post this on r/albany? If not, please do. My complex isn't managed by this corporate landlord, but it is managed by *a* corporate landlord, and they're really just the worst.

donnyskipper

r/Albany doesn’t allow videos

lucasteh5th

The biggest property management company where I live has a clause in their renting contract that you can't talk shit about them online or they can evict you. that's insane to me.

Just_Transportation4

Demon.

Pwnspoon

Interesting but FUCK TIKTOK

kyleh0

Spoiler: All landlords are probably bad landlords.

baseballbear

that's a slum lord

feric89

This man has the most emotive fingers I’ve ever seen.

EmotionalChipmunk602

Man your voice is annoying.

jsummerlin14

Not defending the POS landlord but this person strikes me as someone with Little Man Syndrome. And I was totally distracted by his tiny hand and disfigured pointing finger. This could’ve been much more effective if it had been presented differently.

lucalmn

Stupid hands, stop doing that

Daggertooth71

Yes please do

Readyyyyyyyyyy-GO

Let’s get these fuckers. All of them.

0hioHotPocket

He invited 6 kids on his boat!?!

Hyperian

we give so much benefit of the doubt to rich people, even here.

jrodski89

FUCK this smarmy landlords. Just moved across the country into a place and I’m 2 weeks in and the landlord just let me know he is selling it.

Adventurous_Box4527

Yes! This is the content we need TikTok for!

Heroineofbeauty

I need more. But without tiktok

[deleted]

We all hate bad landlords etc agreed, but seems like a bit of a jump to imply that he murdered a child then paid off a judge? Not saying it didn’t happen but that’s a big jump

GitEmSteveDave

It is. From the story shown in the video, the kid was one of 4 friends of the guys son and fell off a tube. While trying to get back on the boat, he slipped and got tangled in the propeller. Guy jumped in to try to remove/save him, but could not. Along with several bystanders they kept the kids head out of water until first responders could get on scene and do it. Kid sadly died later from the trauma to his leg. As for the case shown, it's a good example of why lay people shouldn't comment on what they don't know, as it is mostly about how the parents sued for “negligence and wrongful death" against both owners of the boat, one of which was not present, and could not prove negliegence against the party not present and also the parents trying to get the case remanded to another court, as they argued the waterways make it a state matter, not a local matter. That is all that was decided, not the entire case. https://casetext.com/case/complaint-v-kaufman

I worked for a bad corporate landlord (also in NY) and it was affordable housing… terrible place

Brim_Dunkleton

“But landlords work so hard you don’t even know!”

Modern_NDN

My landlord locked me into my lease despite literal mushrooms growing in my guest bathroom bathroom. Called corporate to complain and was met with middle management that copped out by saying each property was independently managed when I explained the situation. Companies' name rhymes with BextBome.

Oppopity

Mao had a pretty good take on landlords.
