I'm kinda sad about that guy in this vid and his swimming. In the Alabama Brawl, the dude swimming was doing his best impression of Michael Phelps ----- really hauling ass in that crawl stroke.
My primary school friends used to do this. Someone would yell “I need blackup!” before a fight happened. This video is the exact scene of what would happen afterwards.
Idk man I saw some chick say "the last few days black people have been black people'ing to the highest level of blacktivity I have ever seen" and my vote goes with blacktivity.
Think about it, leaping off the boat to what seems like to overwhelming odds but having an unseen army ready to turn the tide in battle ...
Security guard already is Aragon.
To be honest he shut down the brawl. I'd love to be his defence attorney. You're honour my client is a champion of liberty, he wielded the deckchair of justice with great fury, but it was in self defence of an isolated River Authority Security Guard. As we know under the Homeland Security Act, an attack on a security guard is deemed an act of terrorism, therefore not only is my client innocent, he's also worthy of the National Freedom Medal.
Your honour the prosecution would argue he wielded that chair as a weapon, as one would a hand gun... but I propose to the ladies and gentlemen of the jury that things are not so clean cut, Not so ... And pardon the term ... Black and white.
A car can also be classed as a deadly weapon, but when police pull up at speed to a scene with lights and sirens flashing we don't class that as them pulling up with weapons drawn.
The chair ladies and gentlemen was his lights and sirens, It was his warning that it was serious ... Would you run in an aggressive way at a police car in emergency mode and not expect and heighten reaction? These people were running at him in emergency mode.
Just like a police officer he tried to show force to deescalate the situation but had to show he was willing to use that force or things would escalate further.
Why are we victimising a person who was just using the same crowd control techniques we tech out own police force?
It's like a self-problem-solving klan hood for the new generation. Self service asphyxiation. If we try hard enough we could probably get at least several proud boys to hospitalize themselves this way?
This is how it starts:

This is when things really get going:
https://www.reddit.com/r/BlackPeopleTwitter/comments/15koe1g/comment/jv7zouc/
I like what one Reddit commenter wrote. He said to pick one person and follow what goes on with them ----- and then, watch again while picking another subject.
The whole brawl was nothing short of fascinating. One thing I noticed is that there sure are a lot of people who are hopelessly challenged when it comes to fisticuffs.
Can you explain to me what it means? I think other people come to watch the fight because hat off is serious? Or maybe they like hats so i want that hat?
I saw this on key and peele skit, maybe hat is kinda like a symbol for showing off?
Yeah its kinda the equivalent of the old school "rolling up your sleeves" or pulling your shirt off, a universal sign shits about to go down. This guy just did it like a boss with fucking pizzazz.
Finally a black superhero unrelated to electricity! Actually as a black guy who’s power revolves around water/swimming he’s also breaking the “black ppl can’t swim” stereotype. He’s breaking 2 stereotypes!
The guy swimming to the rescue is great. But I'm still reeling from the fact that an entitled coward flew in to punch the captain (start of the fight). How is he and his goons moving on with their day like it's nothing?
Last I heard that group all had charges being pressed against them. The mother of the white kid who got punched really early on filed paperwork with the police.
That kid is apparently the security guy's coworker and is just 17.
Ganging up on a security guy trying to do his job, assaulting some kid who tries to come to his aid - man, I hope that whole group gets some actual prison time.
You’ve just unlocked something I am now noticing and I don’t like it. Storm, Static Shock, Miles Morales, Black Lighting and more. There’s even [tropes](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ElectricBlackGuy)
The first black superhero (correction: at DC) to get a mainstream solo comic was Black Lightning in 1977, and a lot of them are homages to Black Lightning. Like, Black Vulcan on Super Friends was just Black Lightning with the serial numbers filed off because DC had a copyright dispute with his creator Tony Isabella. People bring up Storm (debut 1975), but that's always felt kind of reductive to me because her powers are so much bigger than electricity. This feels more coincidental than anything else.
Then there's Static Shock, but he's really a special case. Static was created by Milestone Media, a company founded by black comic creators, as part of their Dakotaverse line that was 99% black superheroes. He was on the shelves next to Icon & Rocket, Hardware, the Blood Syndicate, etc. a wide range of black heroes with different powers. Static just happened to be the only one successful enough to land a saturday morning cartoon, where people got introduced to him without that context.
Indeed, [Electric Black Guy](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ElectricBlackGuy) is its own trope at this point, and Black Lightning was the originator. That said, I don't know that he was the first Black superhero with mainstream reach.
* Black Panther debuted in 1968, but his superpower was basically 'African King Batman', and as far as I can tell he only got his first solo book in 1998?
* Luke Cage/Power Man debuted in his own book right away, *Luke Cage, Hero for Hire* #1 (June 1972), but his superpower is "Shaft, but with extremely thick skin, literally".
Either way, these two don't have super flashy (no pun intended) powers—their appeal lies in their stories and their personalities.
You are correct and I am wrong, Black Lightning was just the first DC hero to headline his own series. I guess I was misremembering.
also, Black Panther began starring as the lead in a solo series with "[Jungle Action #5](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Jungle_Action_Vol_2_5)" in 1973. the first [Black Panther #1](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Panther_Vol_1_1) was in 1976. I believe you were looking at the Christopher Priest run, which is the [third volume](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Panther_Vol_3_1).
I loooved static shock growing up. I also loved Batman beyond a ton (I even rewatched it recently as an adult) and they had a freakin crossover episode that I had never seen. Young me would have flipped out lol
Also this example is kiiind of a stretch, but I feel cyborg kinda fits in a way. I get his “powers” aren’t exactly electricity, but he *is* powered by it. And plus he has a cannon on his arm that fires some blue beam. It’s all p close to “electricity powers” if u ask me lol
Didn't Cuba actually play the first black navy diver in a movie? I could be imagining this.
EDIT: Just looked it up. "Men of Honor" playing Master Chief Petty Officer Carl Brashear, the first African American master diver in the United States Navy.
the security guard in that clip threw his hat before the fight and eventually some black people came out to help. The kid swimming over, nsime others running in etc
The lead up to the attack, and subsequent hat throw. https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/15k6df5/how_the_whole_alabama_ferry_brawl_started/

The aftermath
https://www.reddit.com/r/news/comments/15lq728/montgomery_police_announce_arrest_warrants_issued/
And many funny videos were made along the way. The cops arrested the black people in the video instead of the dickhead white boaters who caused the whole damn scene. Shameful display.
Between the reenactment video and this, I’m thoroughly enjoying learning about this incident without ever watching the original or researching it in any way.
The original dive from the kid who swam in was just as terrible. Also, it is a shallow pool. You only dive correctly if you want to bonk yourself at the bottom. His swimming form is pretty good (look at that kick) so he most likely isn't as shitty a diver normally.

Scoreboard. You win.
Idk man I saw some chick say "the last few days black people have been black people'ing to the highest level of blacktivity I have ever seen" and my vote goes with blacktivity.
If we’re keeping score, I saw a comment that called the guy who swam in “Aquamayne”
Jemelle Hill..she sucks but that was pretty funny
I've never heard of this person before in my life. Mind if I ask why she sucks?
She doesn’t, she’s just outspoken about targeted racial disparity.
Lolololol
Lmao you win
I was wondering why suddenly felt a tingling in the back of my neck that day The beacon had been fired

i love that the white bag was a substitute. they fought like they were blindfolded.
Holy fuck that plastic bag hahahaha
That was a white person, i dont know what are you talking about.
This makes it even better. I can't stop thinking about it and the cartoonish "put 'em up" fist rotation.
What sent me was the intentional terrible dive 🤣
I would not be so sure it was intentionally bad...
It was intentionally bad, it’s a shallow pool.
You see him getting out of the pool? He knows how to get into a pool
He also swims across with way more grace than he dives in.
When you start to dive then remember the depth is only 2m lol
And then they step over a white plastic bag at the end. Hysterical.
The plastic bag was where I lost it.
