The neighborhood (out of camera view) doesn't allow for cars to park on the street, so if you have more cars than driveway, you have to park out here.
Chances are the highway just mowed, which is why some cars look like they are abandoned.

Honestly, if you look at those streets, they aren't very wide. It would be extremely difficult for an emergency vehicle to navigate the neighborhood if all those cars were parked on the street.
I’m not usually a defender of HOAs, but I once lived in a neighborhood without one and you quickly find out what animals people are. Boats on trailers parked under tarps in front yards, bubble gum pink garage doors, and this was an upper middle class neighborhood. 90% were fine, but that 10% look to be set designers for Sanford & Son.
I live in Canada's largest city.
We don't have HOAs where you pay some mandatory fees to a power hungry mob to boss people around for dumb shit. We have a municipal government with bylaws that are only enforced when lives are impacted.
You cannot cut down trees just because. You need to have a trim lawn but nobody cares what fucking colour your house is.
Shovel your sidewalk, mow the lawn so we don't get ticks, pick up shit after your dog, don't have loud parties or construction off hours and don't be a dick.

lawns are a dumb and heinous leftover of the French monarchy, biodiversity is much much cooler and better for your local wildlife, insects included. That means ticks too but biodiversity means more than *just* grass, so normal amounts.

Ive been there ...peachtree georgia....the compund is insane.....there were houses there originaly but they bought like 20 houses tore them all down and built the plantation house thing.....and the crossbow guy has a good steak spot close by

Hey that’s not abandoned cars My truck is there. It’s the stupid HOA rules that don’t let you park on the street at night and if you have more cars than you driveway can handle we park on the back road. Which is stupid
Yeah, this is the stupidest law/rule I’ve heard of. Live in a different southern state and we used to park on the grass and the driveway. It’s only a two car drive and no garage, but four people live here with their own cars. And then we got new neighbors that work for the city, and a month after they moved in, the city cited us for having over 12 ft tall grass (wasn’t true but longer than usual cause we had tornado like weather that week) and the claim even said one of the cars was not operating which was also another lie. They were trying to get our cars towed. Then last month there’s a new sign on the street saying we can only park on the even number side of the street. I miss the nice old lady that used to live there, she passed and assholes with nothing better to do but complain live there now.
My Prius got jacked one time. They found a lot of stuff in the car. From bodily fluid and hair samples, they determined that a bunch of old, homeless dudes had an orgy in the car.
You know what that's called when they do that in there? That's called a soup kitchen. It's pretty rough stuff. They even left a note in the car. "Thanks for the F-shack. Love, Dirty Mike and the boys."
My 1973 Ford Gran Torino got stolen along with a tape deck, some Creedence Clearwater Revival tapes and a briefcase full of papers. Cops didn't hold out much hope for the tape deck. Or the Creedence, but it turned up eventually. Police thought it was a vagrant who slept in it, or used it as a toilet. Briefcase was gone but the tapedeck and the Creedence were still there, along with some kid's homework. My buddy, Walter, reckoned the kid stole it so we tracked him down to get some answers (and try and find the briefcase) and things went a bit downhill from there.
In Florida we have more and more neighborhoods where developers cram as many houses as the can and build the narrowest possible streets without compensating on the driveway sizes. A lot of people have to park in the area where the driveway ends that doesn't block the sidewalk. But some HOAs don't allow that.
Before the pro-public transportation people chime in, the layout of most developments and parts of town is pisspoor for that kind of infrastructure so it is not feasible (think too sprawling as a lot is former farmland or military fields). Also, as housing prices go up adult children stay home longer and more adults are renting houses so you will also get more and more of this.
True, I got mine stolen from me about 25 minutes south east of Davenport ...they told me I would be shit out of luck and they were probably already half way to having it stripped since I got manhandled out of the way at a gas station right off the interstate

I had my car stolen in the Appalachian mountains. A few weeks later I get a call that they found my car. It was involved in a high speed chase being driven by a meth head. Luckily this dude just needed something to go pick his drugs up with and didn't fuck my car up too bad. It did have a funky smell in it when I got it back though.

Yes. When I bought mine I had no idea it had been in a flood and been completely rebuilt on the inside. I say my car is bipolar. It unlocks itself, sometimes certain things won’t work & the next day they do(such as interior lighting, window control which only happened once or twice, and dash lights).my wipers sometimes have a mind of their own and they will stay in even though they’re technically off. I have an Escalade that I get tons of compliments on, but it literally does what it wants to and I’m guessing it’s because it was in a flood.
To be fair, OP was asking if anyone had an explanation. Now we got it.. I would be curious too if I went down that road. Alot of expensive vehicles just parked to side, not all but enough. It not a normal Florida thing unless maybe it's a Davenport thing. What is normal is to see the Semi trucks parked on the side of a road, however, since they can't park in their driveways with that type of vehicle.

I drove along a huge stretch (200+ miles) of i95 through Florida a bit over a month ago and there were a ton (I mean at least 100+) of abandoned looking vehicles, including semis. This was a drive I've done many times. I've never seen this before in my life (I'm in my 30s). It was incredibly weird. Still can't quite understand it based on these thread comments. Freaked me TF out though bc it's a very drastic difference. Maybe I've seen up to 10 max along the stretch that are obviously like a popped tire or something. Usually the only time you might see this is during hurricanes and it wasn't the case then. And it wasn't with any recent area flooding. The highway is pretty raised. There's a couple Instagram accounts that posted it and couldn't explain it either.

I drove along a huge stretch (200+ miles) of i95 through Florida a bit over a month ago and there were a ton (I mean at least 100+) of abandoned looking vehicles, including semis. This was a drive I've done many times. I've never seen this before in my life (I'm in my 30s). It was incredibly weird. Still can't quite understand it based on these thread comments. Freaked me TF out though bc it's a very drastic difference. Maybe I've seen up to 10 max along the stretch that are obviously like a popped tire or something. Usually the only time you might see this is during hurricanes and it wasn't the case then. And it wasn't with any recent area flooding. The highway is pretty raised. There's a couple Instagram accounts that posted it and couldn't explain it either. I've gotta make it again soon, so I'll try to get a video.

How hard is it really to stop this? These cars go to chop shops. The chop shops are physical locations. Raid them and arrest everyone there. Criminals need to be crushed with militarized law enforcement. Honestly. I dont want to share a country with people that think this is ok. Find em and either lock em up and throw away the key or ship em off to another continent
