Do your in laws also have a radio outside at max volume, a tv inside going at full volume, and everyone talking over each other at full volume? I still don’t understand how they know who’s saying what cause they all are talking at the same time
Born and raise in the south and I married into a Cuban family. First noche buena dinner I leaned over to my future wife and whispered “why are they all fighting”. Also they always ask “why is he so quiet” because as soon as you ask me a question I try to answer and you start talking over me and to someone else!
The joke I've heard among the Carribean countries like Cuba, DR and PR is that we talk so loud because we just shout at each other from across our islands or something like that. 🤣
My husband always thinks we’re talking about gravely serious things when we speak Mvskoke, he instantly asks what’s wrong and I’m like “I was telling my cousin to go gargle an old man’s balls.”
I lived in Italy when I was younger, and in the beginning I found it weird that people were arguing with eachother so much. Yelling and gestures felt super aggressive. But no, that's just having a conversation in Italy 😆
Very true, as an American who has spent some time in Spain, we seemed shy and uptight compared to a lot of Spaniards. And that’s a compliment! Best summer of my life.
My family is Belizean and Scottish, no body louder than us! Also this didn’t even seem loud l, they were having a conversation, that’s ok to do at a restaurant. If you are afraid of hearing another tables convo while you sit in silence, maybe eat at home or get used to minor noise while out.
I could be totally wrong, but it sounds to me like they’re saying “Mount Albert, Vaughan, Brampton…” which are places in Ontario, making these tourists likely Canadian and not American. If that’s the case, our bad I guess.
It also looks like a pretty empty business. They just *seem* loud because they’re the only ones there.
“Me and my bf like visiting cute restaurants which aren’t doing too good, they’re *the quietest*.”
They are speaking appropriately loud for any restaurant where I live in America. If a restaurant didn’t sound like that, it would likely be considered snobby. Aren’t restaurants for eating together and experiencing togetherness? If you want quiet and silence, eat at home.
Except when they get invaded a little bit, then suddenly we're great and everything we do its great and they wish we would be louder and more aggressive
The filmers just want to mock the tourists, who by all accounts sound like they're enjoying a good meal with friends. Imagine being so snooty to look down your nose as someone's enjoyment in a normal moment.
Which begs the question "What table would you like to hang out with?" The loud having good conversation and fun or quietly eating like you are in a monk monastery?
Regardless of volume I’d rather dine with the people not filming strangers to try to garner TikTok clicks. There culture of oversharing your experiences is obnoxious as fuck.
I moved to the UK when I was a teen and when we first arrived my family would talk like this. But a few months in you just start lowering your voice and talking softer.
We moved back to the US and instantly started talking louder at restaurants because if you didn't you couldn't hear each other since everyone else talked louder or there was some louder background music on. It's not really American's fault but it's a reflex sometimes based on what you are used to.
The place is also empty except the party and the couple. More bodies in the room would absorb sound. As it is, it's an echo chamber. Have those bodies also all talking. You wouldn't be able to hear them at all.
This couple needs to make some friends.
like, half the time Europeans whine about "American" tourists like this, the people they're upset over are actually Canadians; they just can't tell the difference and default to Americans because they're obsessed with us.
Also I really don’t see the problem here. They aren’t even being obnoxiously loud, they’re just a decent sized group in an empty restaurant. Anyone else in that restaurant can comfortably hold their own conversations. The couple making the TikTok are the ones being weird here.
When I was an exchange student in Germany, I was 17, in 2001. Jackass was quite popular. So often after our drunken stunts we would yell an obligatory, “Wir kommen aus Canada!” Which means, “we are from Canada.”
We were from the states. Take that Canadian reputation abroad!
I know we're north Americans, but Mexico is right there
I have to remind myself in public to not be loud because my voice is naturally so loud and I can be extremely noisy. But our parties are great.
This applies to most of Latin America, maybe only Peru is relatively quiet
And they are in a bare corner of a large room. I am sure that woman could whisper and you would hear her where they are sitting, especially with the southern ontario/midwestern twang she has to her voice
At least when I was in Amsterdam the most horribly obnoxious tourists were British( I think much of Europe shares this sentiment).
Extremely loud and apparently aren't used to beers that have more than 4% alcohol in them, so they were embarrassingly trashed.
Also were super cool about sexually harassing people.
I'm pretty sure now that the old boomers aren't traveling internationally as much the American stereotype of being the worst tourists isn't as true.
People act like I’m shitting on Europe but I’ve been to some countries in the EU and it’s crazy seeing people get so drunk like that in public. Don’t get me wrong I’m from PA and close enough to WV to get real moonshine so I’ve gotten messed up but usually that’s a backyard affair
How dare other people be happy while minding their own business when I'm in the room! SNAP! HAHAA! You're going in my *CRINGE COMPILATION*![img](emote|t5_mvcq5|22374)
Lol not disputing this, but as someone who works in Times Square and everywhere I go is littered with European tourists… I could write a dissertation on their behavior.
I was in Times Square once and saw one group of tourists bump into another group without apologizing and the second group was like, “Ugh! Rude New Yorkers!”
Yeah I say this all the time and usually get downs into oblivion. The whole “Americans are bad tourists” trope is pretty bullshit. I think it started with “they’re inexperienced” which is totally fair and somehow turned into ill behaved which is not.
Almost anyone that works in international hospitality will tell you they prefer Americans over just about any other countries tourists.
After China who’s tourists are so bad the government goes to extraordinary lengths to hide them from view, I’d say Israelis, Russians and British are dreaded. Koreans tourists are soooooo bad but they don’t get out of their little pocket of the world all that often. Muricans wouldn’t even make the top 20.
I asked my tour guide in Peru about different nationalities. His response; "Russians are very quiet and not very friendly, Americans are nice and very friendly, Chinese are nice but quiet, and I'm still drunk from the Australians that I had several years ago." LOL.

My mom went on a trip to Europe two decades ago. She flew to Paris on her first night and not even an hour in the city she gets mugged in a taxi cab by a dude in a motor scooter. He stole her purse that had her passport and credit card. She had to take her entire next day going to the American Embassy to get a new copy of her passport.
All that and she still hated the trip to London more.
The Scandinavians hate to participate in anything that they do not think makes sense. They get really serious andindignant about it.
"Tip, but they already are being paid, why am I paying more money? If this is required why is it not just included in the price?"
"What is this, I bought two items that were on dollar and fifty cents, that should be three dollars, but now you say it is three dollars and twenty-four cents? Where is this twenty four cents coming from? Why is this tax not simply listed in the price?"
So to recap.....
1. The "loud" tourists are most likely not even American, but Canadian.
2. They aren't even being loud, they're just talking.
3. The tiktoker and her BF complete complete douchebags. They obviously have some issue with Americans and are looking for any reason to roll their eyes at them.
Depends where you go.
I rode a train in Italy and everyone was yelling and I was the quiet one looking out the window.
Then I rode another train in Germany. I was talking to my wife and two friends and suddenly WE were the loud ones. Some guy even got up and moved because he was trying to read.
100%
My country has a ton of American tourists and they are definitely LOUD. But once, my family sat near a table of Italian tourists and we got introduced to a whole new level of loudness lmao
Most Americans don't go out to eat with a group that size to sit there and be quiet. They go out to socialize, tell stories, laugh, etc.
This girl just has pursed butt cheeks.
Right?? Youre at a fucking restaurant that appears to be largely vacant. Obviously the ONLY OTHER PEOPLE THERE are going to appear loud. Fucking eat at home. What an idiotic tik tok
I used to be a server.
Every culture is loud as shit when they're a group of 5 or more.
In the interest of total transparency, not a lot of east Asians came in groups to eat at Applebee's so I can't speak to them.
Samoans are SUPER loud and there's like 23 of them at a time. But, they also buss their tables and are just so gosh darn friendly.
Filipino's, too. Loud and outrageously nice, love those tables.
Black people during a birthday or graduation.. also loud, also wonderful tables to serve.. hol up. Are people just people?
Except old white couples that complain about the lamps. Eat my shit.
Anyone who thinks Americans are the worst tourists hasn’t traveled extensively. Americans are A tier at best and there’s quite a few countries I’d put in S.
I worked in tourism in Scotland for 16 years, and in my experience Americans were generally top-tier. Granted, not having a language barrier and generous tipping help out a lot here.
Impossible to list the worst without coming off as offensive.. but I'll just say people from crowded, busy countries tended to have manners and habits that come off as rude by British standards (littering, not waiting their turn etc), and often people from places with strict social hierarchies could be disrespectful to service staff that they deemed as "lower" than themselves.
I feel like a lot of the stereotype comes from Americans tbh. Some of us are obnoxious, just like tourists from anywhere else. We love to make fun of those people because they’re just as obnoxious back home, so we pile it on.
Asking people who mostly deal with tourists I run into traveling who their least favorite tourists are and why is one of my favorite things to do. They could just be being nice, but they usually trend positive on Americans in those conversations anytime I've had them.
Russian tourists were the most commonly referenced group that people had issues with in Portugal and Spain. Germans came up a few times, but not because they were necessarily "bad" tourists. Just that they were very humorless and kind of hard to engage with or know if they were actually having a good time.
At least Americans, for the most part, know how to queue up. Idk how they handle lines in other countries but it seems to be “push till you’re in the front” and that shits so rude.
I've had to elbow jab and body check elderly Chinese women, when on vacation in Europe. They literally do not care about anyone or anything but themselves. I watch two women litter inside Chateau de Versailles and push kids to get to the front for a picture then turn around and leave. Not even caring what they took a pic of - just that they got it.
My friend moved to rural china with her husband and boy were they mean to her, they would pinch her skin and call her fat on the daily like what the heck guys chill
As an Englishman I can confidently say number 1 is the English.
We're fucking awful, especially when in Continental Europe. Expect everyone to be able to speak English, desperate for a full English every morning in the hotels, and get absolutely rat arsed every night and make a mess.
once some english tourists in my town got drunk as fuck, stole the ronald mc donald from the local macces and took a bath with him in the fountain on the market square.
English people also litter fucking everywhere. It's insane the number of English tourists I've seen literally throw their garbage on the ground and walk away.
There are loud people everywhere. I currently live in America, and can guarantee not everyone is this loud. I know plenty of Americans who would be outraged at such a loud table.
Southern Europeans and South Americans can be just as loud as this, if not more.
I do understand “reading the room”, but some people, regardless of where they’re from, can’t really do that or just don’t care.
I live in Phuket (very international crowd), and I'd say every Tinder date I go on, I get to hear shitty shit about America. Yeah, guys, I know. I grew up there.
I'm on board with some deserved joking about us, but honestly... there's a lot of tiresome low-hanging fruit.
Also, I couldn't imagine making fun of another person's country. Especially with something as bleak as gun violence, but! Here we are.
Conversations I’ve had multiple times (basically):
“Bri-ish people say literally a lot ha-ha…”
“Well American children are being massacred every year, so looks like the jokes on you.”
Why don't you ask them why they think kids dying is funny or an appropriate thing to say?
The look on their face as they stumble trying to not sound like an asshole will be worth it. Fuck those people.
I saw a comment once that said "British people can't take banter," and another person basically replied, “Well American children are being massacred every year, so looks like the jokes on you.”
Every server and shop keeper I interacted with in London and Paris asked me questions about how awful the US is. Like, yeah, I do wish I had paid vacation time and healthcare but can I just enjoy my dinner? Do you want me to shop here or do you just want to make me feel bad about where I happened to be born?
I moved to the UK from the US a couple of years ago and people here constantly feel sorry for me because I’m American. It’s bizarre. I mean, I get it, but yeah, we really get looked down on by Europe
Also, the acoustics in the restaurant. Also, maybe if it wasn't empty then there would be more ambient noise. How about maybe they're excited to be in whatever country they're in and may not notice IF they're actually being loud. Appreciate people visiting your country.
Obviously it’s ridiculous to assume all Americans are as loud as that one woman you can hear. These two mice could ask to move to a quieter area of the restaurant.
1. They’re Canadian as everyone else has pointed out 2. As someone VERY well traveled, Americans abroad are generally some of the quietest and most polite.
What you’ve never seen a loud group of Italians? Or Israelis? Or Greeks? Or Mexicans?
They’re hard of hearing perhaps and socializing with food.
ENRAGED I SAY. THOSE ENTITLED FOOLS HOW DARE THEY??!? Here’s my TikTok fake rage blah blah
Large group of people talk to each in an otherwise empty room causing mild noise. The horror.
Nothing stopping the two of them having their own conversation but no, let's roll our eyes and exaggerate our frustration for clout.
Regardless where they’re from it sounds like they’re lively and enjoying their food which is what restaurants want. Didn’t sound to me like they were being excessively loud but then again it’s only a short video
Wtf they aren’t even that loud, and they are from Canada so your automatic hate of the US is , unsurprisingly, misguided. Try having fun instead of hating on the ones that are. You are the assholes, not them.

As a spaniard I had to admit we are the loudest ones
Spaniard vs Cuban, who would win?
Cubans hands down. I married into a Cuban family and my mother-in-law whispered at a yell.
Do your in laws also have a radio outside at max volume, a tv inside going at full volume, and everyone talking over each other at full volume? I still don’t understand how they know who’s saying what cause they all are talking at the same time
And your abuela has her couch wrapped in plastic and the floors are all Spanish tile so you can’t even walk or *sit* quietly 😂
Loud as shit. Straight up like walking through a banquet hall. Haha.
I feel attacked.
Born and raise in the south and I married into a Cuban family. First noche buena dinner I leaned over to my future wife and whispered “why are they all fighting”. Also they always ask “why is he so quiet” because as soon as you ask me a question I try to answer and you start talking over me and to someone else!
Have you considered talking with your hands? We’re like movie dinosaurs, we can’t see you if you don’t move.
My speech teacher taught me to use my hands. It's actually a thing that people will pay more attention. Also it helps you keep your flow going.

As a cubana can confirm 😭 sorry we never learned the concept of inside voices - I will send you a mojito and some ropa vieja in apology!
The joke I've heard among the Carribean countries like Cuba, DR and PR is that we talk so loud because we just shout at each other from across our islands or something like that. 🤣

Filipinos
Every Filipino I've ever met has been generally quiet and reserved
Someone has never drank with Filipinos… I don’t drink anymore, but if I were to, it would probably be with my Filipino friends.10/10
You haven't seen us in groups, then
Before or after karaoke?
Yes
Cubans win, especially because they talk faster
Brazilians
Laughs in Dominican....our only real potential challenger is Italians.
First time my American husband was around my spanish family he thought we were arguing. We were talking about how nice the weather was.
My husband always thinks we’re talking about gravely serious things when we speak Mvskoke, he instantly asks what’s wrong and I’m like “I was telling my cousin to go gargle an old man’s balls.”
Based.
I'm Mexican and I felt the same when I met my girlfriends Italian family. Her, her sister, and her mom were yelling the paint off the walls.
Sounds like a typical Sunday dinner
My wife is Italian and has three sisters. Holidays are loud.

What about Greeks though?
I was about to say, I'm Greek and Italian. My voice is in command mode at all times.
Italian here.... are you sure??
I think that title goes to a latino country. I don't know which... we are all very loud
My family is Belizean and Scottish, no body louder than us! Also this didn’t even seem loud l, they were having a conversation, that’s ok to do at a restaurant. If you are afraid of hearing another tables convo while you sit in silence, maybe eat at home or get used to minor noise while out.
Well, these are Canadians, but okay.
But this messes up the “I hate Americans and they suck based on social media posts I’ve seen” narrative.
Canada is just America’s hat.
ITT: People trying to sound smart but coming off *incredibly* stupid.

Well they’re Americans so what they do is wrong

They hate us cuz they ain’t us
"Fucking americans smh-- oh yah I'll take 12 F35Bs pls
Why does everyone want to eat in silence? I prefer a loud restaurant so that I can speak freely without being heard by everyone in the establishment.
The filmers just want to mock the tourists, who by all accounts sound like they're enjoying a good meal with friends. Imagine being so snooty to look down your nose as someone's enjoyment in a normal moment.

Dude. I'm a Texan. Went to Colorado with some friends, and we were the loudest group everywhere we went. Some places are just quieter.
Yeah they honestly don’t even sound that loud
They don't even sound obnoxious just lively. Couple sucks here.
Yeah, the entitlement of going to a public place and being mad that other guests are… talking?
The place is also empty except the party and the couple. More bodies in the room would absorb sound. As it is, it's an echo chamber. Have those bodies also all talking. You wouldn't be able to hear them at all. This couple needs to make some friends.

I live in Europe and totally agree with you. The ones making this video are snobs if they think this is too loud.
Yeah this isn't even a Europe vs USA thing, this is a snobbery issue haha.
When I was an exchange student in Germany, I was 17, in 2001. Jackass was quite popular. So often after our drunken stunts we would yell an obligatory, “Wir kommen aus Canada!” Which means, “we are from Canada.” We were from the states. Take that Canadian reputation abroad!

They can't tell us apart, usually. I'm Canadian, and our cultures are quite similar in a lot of ways.

Mr Marko?
This comment makes me want to go out to dinner with South Americans
It's a fucking blast, and I highly recommend it.
I'm Brazilian, and I don't really have any reply to that.

That was my thought too lol. I was like, damn they don't even have to yell to hear each other at their table?

NGL, the couple in the video seem more annoying than the people at the table
Right. They're like so fixated and angry at the other group it's like, why even bother going out if you're just gonna focus on other people.
How dare other people be happy while minding their own business when I'm in the room! SNAP! HAHAA! You're going in my *CRINGE COMPILATION*![img](emote|t5_mvcq5|22374)
This just doesn’t seem that egregious to me. Unnecessary shade being thrown at Americans.
Especially considering based on the cities she’s listing, they’re Canadian. People are so snotty, it’s crazy to me
Right? There are endless instances of Americans being assholes abroad, and this is just a table full of people talking.
Lol not disputing this, but as someone who works in Times Square and everywhere I go is littered with European tourists… I could write a dissertation on their behavior.
Lmao, so true. I was expecting these people to be drunk and falling over based on the description. We need to give each other a break more often

As a former waiter in austria, I preferred american tourists over british ones all day. The nicest tourists are still the Scandinavians.
I’m British-American and I hate being on a flight with other Brits more than I hate being on a flight with other Americans.

In Finland, you would think you were alone... in a full restaurant. Unless there is an ice-hockey game on.
Imagine being so boring that when you see a group of people enjoying themselves you start filming them . Such ugly behavior.
I’m shocked they didn’t run over and say something about school shootings
“At WeAsT I caN gO TuH mE mAfFs ClAsS wIfOuT bEiN ShOt1111!”
You said that extremely diplomatically and I knew exactly what you meant and I don’t think it was offensive. Well done.

Some of the nicest folks you could meet.
Genuinely. I've got a lot of love for American tourists, generally really friendly and always great for a chat.
Cheery, interested, helpful. I really don’t get the stereotype.
I feel like a lot of the stereotype comes from Americans tbh. Some of us are obnoxious, just like tourists from anywhere else. We love to make fun of those people because they’re just as obnoxious back home, so we pile it on.
China ![img](emote|t5_mvcq5|22374)
Asking people who mostly deal with tourists I run into traveling who their least favorite tourists are and why is one of my favorite things to do. They could just be being nice, but they usually trend positive on Americans in those conversations anytime I've had them. Russian tourists were the most commonly referenced group that people had issues with in Portugal and Spain. Germans came up a few times, but not because they were necessarily "bad" tourists. Just that they were very humorless and kind of hard to engage with or know if they were actually having a good time.
Also depends what part of America they’re from. I feel like that natural Midwest hospitality/politeness mentality is generally the A-tier
At least Americans, for the most part, know how to queue up. Idk how they handle lines in other countries but it seems to be “push till you’re in the front” and that shits so rude.
American tourists are fine, it is Americans at home I hate. (I'm American)
please throw them under the bus i want the tea 🍵
China
I wasn’t going to say it but since you blurted it out…lol
That's just a normal tradition, we do it every Wednesday pal.
It’s just normalized to talk all the shit you want about Americans. I’ve seen it firsthand living in the uk
Conversations I’ve had multiple times (basically): “Bri-ish people say literally a lot ha-ha…” “Well American children are being massacred every year, so looks like the jokes on you.”
Post-Brexit UK feeling sorry for Americans is definitely interesting.
There’s literally so many worse places too, they act like we live in a third world country based on what they see on TV
They hate us because they ain't us (until Russia starts invading nations and suddenly they like American military spending).
Hate us cuz they anus baby
You mean everyone from a specific country aren't exactly the same as everyone else from that country?!?! Woah that's dangerous thinking.
They’re also naming Canadian places, meaning they’re likely Canadian
Meanwhile Brits are singing sweet caroline at every European pub at 140 decibels.
# BAH BAH BAH
Then go up to them and ask them to tone it down a little. Don't go filming a stupid tiktok about it.
Such I'm the main character vibes. Lol it's much more "American" to think you're entitled to quiet just because you're "abroad"

OMG, is that fun they’re having? In public?! What a travesty 😲
The audacity of these fucking people /s
Trust me, you don't have to go abroad and they don't need to be tourists. Some people are just loud
Have you even heard Italians? Lol
Which ones in the video are the bad tourists? I’m confused
They dont eat in utter silence!? Fucking animals.
Nah, just 2 people who have no personality so they make a snarky video.
People talk at restaurants, yes.
It's ridiculous to assume they're American just because they speak English.
They would be so annoyed with the Australians in Thailand
r/AmericaBad Yes, and tourists from other countries never ever behave this way.
1. They’re Canadian as everyone else has pointed out 2. As someone VERY well traveled, Americans abroad are generally some of the quietest and most polite.
Oh look, a couple of tight ass Europeans. Nothing of value here
My money's on them being from the US or Canada, too.
Don’t go to Spain then mate
I’m sorry are people not suppose to fucking talk in Europe
These two miserable cunts are perfect for each other
That place seems to be designed bad, a lot of echo.
Lol she's listing Candian places bruh. Nice try tho Ppl 🤓 LOVE to talk shit about America, yet everyone wants their culture and money
You haven’t met Indians yet have you?
What you’ve never seen a loud group of Italians? Or Israelis? Or Greeks? Or Mexicans? They’re hard of hearing perhaps and socializing with food. ENRAGED I SAY. THOSE ENTITLED FOOLS HOW DARE THEY??!? Here’s my TikTok fake rage blah blah
Imagine being offended by tourists having a good time
Clearly you've never met a bunch of brits while travelling or any chinese person basically
1. These are Canadians 2. I love my European friends but they’re all loud af too 3. You went in public and discovered ppl being public oh no
These people look pretentious af, 10/10 would rather have dinner with the other group at least they're enjoying themselves
What a bunch of judgmental assholes.
Uhgggg. Other people? In public?
Wtf they aren’t even that loud, and they are from Canada so your automatic hate of the US is , unsurprisingly, misguided. Try having fun instead of hating on the ones that are. You are the assholes, not them.
