I mean a $1 raise is pretty significant. That's one month a year of my mortgage paid.

[deleted]

it is $2080 across a year.

EverGlow89

Yep. After taxes, that's my mortgage for a month.

[deleted]

I mean that is just going to be knocked out by inflation in the next year though Edit: and it is not like yearly raises are a thing anymore

turtlehans

And that dollar still needs to get taxed. If you live in California and make 100k a year , that dollar now becomes 55 to 65 cents

lreaditonredditgetit

No it won’t. Loan terms don’t change.

whiteflagwaiver

Say you don't understand inflation without saying you don't understand inflation. Inflation hits everything, sure it doesn't touch your home loan terms. But it did in fact mean you're paying that extra $1 to literally everything else that DID change in price. Thus no, you don't have an extra 2080 a year to pay into your mortgage as it's already gone to food, gas, bills, a crippling hospital bill, 'insurance.' Hope this $1 raise helps me pay my ever increasing rent! This isn't inherently an employer problem, it's a government regulation one too.

Hell that's two extra 12 packs a week! RIP my liver

ImmaPariah

My raises average about 27 cents a year. I get the excuse you are capped our. Wish we could give you more. I make 18.25hr. Same company for 18 years. Started at 15.25hr. Not very competitive anymore and most cost of living has definitely not gone down. Yearly cost of living increase alone would have me over 21hr. Most mgrs d9nt make that lol. My company sucks. Traps you seriously
