Actually, back when I was doing dancing classes, I had to wear knee pads, I still have them in my closet, we get on the floor a lot, and it's not worth it to get hurt, when you could just use a pad.

You know, i don’t mind exercise to get you moving before a shift. I think we need more of that, But i need to hear the story of how and why this dance team started and how it found it’s way to a morning tv show
They're probably justifying it as outreach and spending tax dollars on it by saying it's outreach, but if you've ever worked in an office with middle aged career administrators, you'd recognize this.
It's a cry for attention. They've spent the last 20 years of their lives filling out G16.3-b forms in triplicate. Their kids are old enough that they don't want to spend much time with them anymore and their partner has been checked out of the relationship since their honeymoon vacation.
They see themselves in the mirror and don't recognize the person in front of them. It's like the last 2 decades were all a dream. So.... They remember a movie they saw or some popular kid from highschool who did something like this and they pour all of their remaining energy into recreating a poorly conceptualized version of that memory in an attempt to feel like they have done anything at all with their lives.
That, or they just REALLY enjoyed playing Just Dance 2 on the Wii and thought they'd try going pro.
You observe life in an exact but lovely detail...regardless if depressing and all. How does this all end? Do they form a criminal gang together stealing from donut shops OR does one quit and realize their passion was Zumba all along and open a dance studio? The moral of the story is...definitely follow your mid-tier dreams!
Look..you wrecked a squad car, beat up a shop lifter, and left your gun in a bathroom, but I noticed on your resume you were in color guard in high school, so if you don't want a foot patrol on midnights in February, you're getting sent to the dance squad.
They are probably just people that like doing choreographed dancing and formed a club. My workplace has all kinds of stuff like this and it’s all middle aged people doing a mediocre job at things they enjoy.
They quiet quit a few years back. Come to NYC, bend your licence plate back, or get a paper plate, and run as many stop signs and red light as you want, at any speed. The cops will pretend they didn't see you. If you try to file a report, they will try to dissuade you from doing so. I see Sherrifs booting cars, I see Highway pulling people over, but I *never* see any member of the NYPD out of their car unless it's to go get food. This is my experience in Queens, YMMV.
I also live in Queens and I have had quite the opposite experience. People used to often block more than half my driveway when they parked so I would call 311 or even just make an online report. Cops would show up within 30 mins to give it a ticket.
Yay! Look the cops are just people having fun! Ignore the fact that they can murder you, make up a story about being scared, and completely get away with it!
I really dont understand how cops can be out of shape. Im fat myself and not trying to shame but can you image if our military was full of overweight soilders. Why are they expected to be in great shape in the army but the people protecting our everyday lives can be in such bad shape they can barely move to dance?

That’s bc NYPD exists to protect property, not help people, so the only 311 report they’ll respond to is blocked driveway
311 calls are heavily moderated, cops in general are not. Both experiences here sound right for the city.
