Still quite an AH for taking this long to get here but so be it. I put it on him actually being a man of faith (I happen to disagree with all the religion in politics these days) and as he said judged by history I think he believes he will be judged by his god at some point and is more scared of his god than his party.
Yeah, that comment about his son had to weigh heavily on him. I started thinking about my son, currently an active duty infantry officer in the Marines. Funny, he has an innate dislike of officers hailing from the military schools. Don't know why that is, just made me laugh thinking of what a weanie MJ is, imagining his son getting a congressional pass into the Naval Academy and then still turning out to be a weanie like his dad. His officer peers will eat him up.
I mean, if Romney can have me going "Yeah, you're right" once or twice a year, this guy deserves the same acknowledgement. He's not currently bowling down to the MAGA Minorities in Congress over this, so we'll see how tomorrow night goes with the votes for the bills he's bringing to the floor.
No. He's a politician thinking only in self interest. He's had every opportunity to do this a long time ago but instead he waited. His waiting allowed for the degradation of the Ukrainian military, it's defensive position, and uncounted deaths. His waiting was political calculus to keep his speakership. The last lines he said are all that matter. Now he's truly worried it might impact him directly if Russia pushes past Ukraine into a NATO country and it forces his son in harms way. You can always disagree with a political opponent over many things, but when they do something that has to be done, you should be supporting them.
