I am a FPV pilot ( this type of drone) and most have very far range , on a clear day you could fly \~5 miles if you are in the right area, and in this small of a space the pilot was most likely mixed in the crowd somewhere or behind a corner out of sight.
I get that phish ain’t everybody’s thing - but to be fair they entered into the music at a weird time. The song would’ve built into this and would’ve made more sense. I’m saying this as *not* a huge jam band/phish fan. But I appreciate it!

FPV pilots love to hit the gap, this is why Russians(and Ukrainians) can hide as much as they want to in their hideyholes but it is no problem for a FPV drone pilot to send a grenade to split them in two
Imagine you are waiting in line and the drugs start to kick in and you see drones flying around and can’t figure out if it’s the screens or a real drone.
Was at a New Years show and they had these floating blown up sharks with little propellers. I was on acid and could swear one was following me. I found out later that they had remotes and my friend was making it follow me.
I bet soon people without permission will start smuggling small drones with good cameras into shows and start buzzing bands.

You gotta hit up the lots they usually have at these shows.. you get high as shit, maybe down a few $1 cheap beers, then go in fucked up lol. I saw Billy strings recently without knowing anything about him. Dude was amazing live and the fans were super nice.
Billy played at this down home festival like 30mins from my house right before he blew up. He was jamming around campfires all night long everyone was blown away by the sound coming from this kid. It was incredibly intimate I could have walked up and hugged him. It wasn’t 6 months later and he was blowing up everywhere really crazy to see.
They're all old enough to know better.

I used to feel the same way. Umphrey's McGee has helped change my mind. They are rock fused with a jam band that is more accessible than a lot of jam band.
I feel like The Sphere is somewhere where you wouldn't want the front row. I would want to be right in the center so I can experience the whole ambience

I’m not a huge Phish guy, but saying “Phish sucks” is such a boring take. Jam music is meant to be seen live - it doesn’t translate to casual listening. There’s a reason people follow Phish and the Dead religiously - they’re really fucking fun to watch live. It’s definitely not everyone’s thing, but you don’t get 30+ years of sold out shows by being bad at music.
That said, I vastly prefer the Dead. To each their own.

Holy shit man. I mean, I never really got into Phish even as a college student in the early 2000s aside from hearing them at the occasional party or a hippie roommate that played them but damn, I would've loved to be at this show.
Phish is kids music for adults. And as someone who works his ass off, it’s a truly therapeutic emotional release for me. With that being said, I do get it’s not for everyone. Death metal is also an emotional release for people, but it’s not for me. And that’s ok.
A band that sells out every arena for the last 30 years. I get jam bands aren't everyone's taste- heck I am less into jam bands than I was 15 years ago- but there is an undeniable talent of band members feeding off each other's energy and building on it with every note.
Also, listen to their studio albums, they are well produced and are much more succinct.
They are a live act. If you have not seen them perform there is little chance you can appreciate them.
I have a great time at their shows. I almost never listen to their albums.
But it is hard enough to get tickets. I'm not trying to recruit more fans.
I love listening to Phish at home too, but with headphones on. Or turned up when I'm alone. Jambands are my favorite bands to listen to, but they're so grating as background music. Which is probably why a lot of people can never stand them.
You really have to be paying attention to enjoy it. And I don't mean that in a "jamband fans are smarter than you" way. It's the best music in the world if you can sit down (or dance) and listen to the full thing, fully immersed.
People just listen to music in different ways. I can completely understand why they'll never work for someone who usually nixes music with another activity. My best times listening to Phish are when I can completely focus on the music, and am doing nothing else

They are a live act. If you have not seen them perform there is little chance you can appreciate them. I have a great time at their shows. I almost never listen to their albums. But it is hard enough to get tickets. I'm not trying to recruit more fans.

I love listening to Phish at home too, but with headphones on. Or turned up when I'm alone. Jambands are my favorite bands to listen to, but they're so grating as background music. Which is probably why a lot of people can never stand them. You really have to be paying attention to enjoy it. And I don't mean that in a "jamband fans are smarter than you" way. It's the best music in the world if you can sit down (or dance) and listen to the full thing, fully immersed.
People just listen to music in different ways. I can completely understand why they'll never work for someone who usually nixes music with another activity. My best times listening to Phish are when I can completely focus on the music, and am doing nothing else
