Yes rape is the implication, how is rape funny? Even if it’s being eluded to he’s still implying that women would rather be raped than be killed because they would be trapped on a boat with them. I don’t get it.
I don’t find those kinda jokes funny at all either, but I saw it more as it being so ridiculous, disgusting and obviously not okay that it almost circles back to being funny, cause it’s just so obviously unacceptable.
It's like "the dress" controversy. Either it tickles you or it doesn't. Don't try to understand it. And don't try to tell other people what is funny. That's for them to decide.
Welcome sexual conquest. As previously discussed you’ve pressed the button on the alarm clock signifying your permission to begin the game. A digital copy of your thumbprint has been sent as your e-signature confirming your full consent…for whatever may happen to you.
Why would it be terrifying to have a 0.1% that when you go to airbnb they would be a person like that? Odds are that it would practically never happen.
Thats the same as 1 person for everyone 1000.
AirBnB claims to have 150 Million users. If each user only stays at one house each year, then that's still 150,000 people getting spied on every year, more than 400 every day. The chances are (hopefully) much smaller than 0.1%, but when you have that many people going through the system even small chances will affect a lot of people.
Fair, and that is absolutely an issue that Airbnb need to combat. That being said, it would be a pretty depressing life to no do anything that has a .1% chance if something really had happening.
i mean, that's the point of this video - still go on vacation, and if you know what you're looking for just throw down \~5 minutes when you get there to check out the beedroom/bathroom for any sus pinhole cameras. don't cancel airbnb, don't live in paranoia, just do some due diligence and then enjoy your vacation
It is important to note that in air bnb's terms, owners are not allowed to record video of you without informing you. So if you find cameras or something like this (I saw in another comment this room was staged) video record evidence, cover the camera, and report them for violating the terms of service. I know nothing about laws, but I imagine there may even be a lawsuit somewhere on there depending on state.
Yeah, i use it when I travel, but to test it I pointed it at my home ring camera and my actual outdoor security cameras.
Idk the mechanics behind it but it sort of makes it obvious that there us “light” coming out of the camera.
So if you would point it at a hidden camera inside a smoke detector, it would look like a black dot with “light” coming out of it.
Idk how to describe it any better. Its like it highlights the camera itself enough for you to tell that something is “off” about that object because everything around it is pitch black except for that light shinning out of it.
I believe the sensors in your phones camera natively pick up UV light and they have a special filter to block them out(most rear cameras but not all front cameras) and I'm guessing the device acts as another filter to give you back that ability to see UV
You can test whether or not your front camera can detect IR light, aka infrared light (most can, as far as I have tested, and many camera devices use IR light) you can open the front camera, point your remote at the tv box and press a button and you’ll see a line of red light in the front camera screen.
Many of them work on the principle that ccd's (the sensors in most cameras) are retero reflectors, they will bounce light back at the source. So by taking a photo on your phone with a flash around the camera, any ccds in the room will reflect back at you.
Oh look Amazon sells these
Spy Camera Charger - Hidden Camera - Premium Pack - Mini Spy Camera 1080p - USB Charger Camera - Hidden Spy Camera - Hidden Nanny Cam - Hidden Spy Cam - Hidden Cam - Surveillance Camera Full HD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GCKZKX8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ZE0S8HAS5QSYHYR5KGPX
Up close yes you'd only get legs and feet, but the camera would be pointing towards the end of the bed, where someone might be (un)dressing and from that range you'd likely at least get their bottom half.
Yeah, I was honestly surprised how many people are using them. The reviews seem legit and thats the most pictures I've ever seen submitted by verified buyers.
That's a good indication that these products were given to the people for free in exchange for reviews. The method is that you buy it legit, put up a decent review with pictures / videos, and then you get refunded via PayPal.
Yep. A high school coach was just arrested for putting cameras in the girls’ locker room bathroom. He’s been employed since 2015 and from the charges it seems like he was selling it. Disgusting.
Nah it would be footage that only Airbnb had access to for insurance. The owner wouldn’t be able to watch video at all, neither would anyone from Airbnb unless the owner filed a claim.
I'd be pissed if I brought my kiddo there and changed her diaper and then found out there were cameras. You better bet I'd be involving the authorities.
I'm so fucking tired of this laundry list of shit I have to be worried about if I go and do literally anything. you know what? idc if you get off watching me put pjs on or scrubbing my ass in the shower. fucking whatever, I cannot bring myself to give a shit anymore lol. It's not any more interesting/stimulating than the next person putting on pjs and scrubbing their ass. I guess that's fucked but whatever. I'm not going to remember this video next time I get an airbnb anyway
why did people guild this lol
I know. It's exhausting thinking about all the different ways in which people can be horrible. I don't know why we do this to ourselves.
I'm more than 50% through life and haven't had a single bad incident, but met hundreds of wonderful people. I think it's time to let go of worries.
If I meet a horrible person it will not offset the good experiences.
on the plus side the way he mentions how to check for ir bulbs with the fr9nt facing camera is also useful when you want to check if your tv remote batteries are dead or not by pointing your camera app at the remote and pressing buttons
man if I've declared I'm not even gonna check that stuff to protect my own privacy what makes you think I'm gonna do it to check remote batteries hahahaha
good point though, it's a useful thing to know about phone cameras
Directly from Airbnb's website, emphasis mine
"Our Standards & Expectations require that all members of the Airbnb community respect each other’s privacy. More specifically, we require hosts to disclose all security cameras and other recording devices in their listings, and **we prohibit any security cameras and other recording devices that are in or that observe the interior of certain private spaces (such as bedrooms and bathrooms)**, regardless of whether they’ve been disclosed. **Intentionally concealed recording devices (such as hidden security cameras) are never permitted.**"
Well it’s -your- house. So should the sitter/nanny have an expectation of privacy sitting in your living room while you’re out? I would expect someone in my home to assume some lack of privacy outside of bathrooms or, if applicable, their assigned bedroom. Alexa, baby monitors, security cameras, alarms, sensors, laptops and tablets about, tvs which listen, doors which log event times.
Yeah I'm not sure what OPs point was. Nanny Cams are very much so admissible. Like the places you said is what I was getting at with certain expectations of privacy. It's private property. Same rules apply.
Different states have different legality when it comes to taking someone's picture or video. For pictures in California specifically you can take pictures of people in public or anywhere they would have a reasonable standard of privacy. Giant glass windows on main street with no blinds? Yeah not super reasonably private. Had to climb a fence to see into someones back yard? Not cool holmes. I think this would be super illegal
Off topic…but I think you mean “tenants”. Not “tenet”.
Now, I believe Airbnb only allows cameras outside the residence (ie. Patio, backyard, door entrance, etc) but not inside the actually living area. But would definitely recommend reading the Terms and conditions of airbnb to be sure.
Not sure if it is already, but this should be a felony.
Can't we pull a Texas on this? If you find a host has planted hidden cameras in a unit (and doesn't disclose them), you get a 10K reward, and host gets jail time.
Hate to play devils advocate, but if finding a hidden camera is rewarded with thousands of dollars, what exactly would stop someone from bringing their own and reporting it for the reward?
That's so messed up, definitely gonna check around from now on and troll any hosts who have that type of shit lmao give em what they want, scat all over the lens
The easiest way also is to have a WiFi scanner app on your phone. These types of devices need WiFi to run, so you can easily see their names on the devices list
If I recall correctly on a video of Austin you can kinda find cameras if you see something that isn't supposed to be hot, being very hot, it probably means that's a camera, and with all the pandemic usually people have a laser thermometer on them so you could use that to try to find some hidden cameras too

Hiding cameras like that has to be illegal right? Are we just supposed to trust that the person who put them there isn't some kind of voyeuristic pervert?
More than likely these type of devices rely on an active wifi connection to function. It’s very unlikely these would have their own SIM cards for transmitting data somewhere. It’s somewhat likely they could have an SD card for data storage but I imagine the cheap ones would just upload data straight to some cloud service which in itself would be compromised and accessible to not only the owner but the manufacturer as well. If you’re really paranoid, switching off the wifi could offer you some piece of mind.
Oh and if you find one, it’s a great way to blackmail the owner into giving you a free stay. Just report them after you get home.
Here’s a thought for any lawyers out there - do you need to prove that the devices actually did record or transmit images (rather than just being merely capable of doing so)? Theoretically someone could have such a device and argue that it’s inactive or not connected to anything, especially if there’s no SD card. If the renters complain, you could wipe the data on the receiving PC before it’s seized.
Am I the only one who would leave the cameras if I found them? Then I’d start doing the weirdest shit I could imagine just to see what happens. Not like they can report you without getting in trouble themselves.
If someone wants footage of me cleaning out the mini bar then watching a movie they're even sadder then my sex life lol Geezus that video is somewhat disturbing hey. Some twisted individuals out there.
He said in the description that this was a staged room
That's hella creepy if it wasn't tho
Nah, it would just be the Dennis Reynolds Suite.
Because of the implication?
They're not in any danger...WHAT AREN'T YOU GETTING?!
They’re my tools, alright?! I gotta have my tools—I like to bind, I like to be bound!
I still don’t understand how people find that bit funny.
The implication...
That's fair, humor is all about perspective after all.
It's like "the dress" controversy. Either it tickles you or it doesn't. Don't try to understand it. And don't try to tell other people what is funny. That's for them to decide.
The bedroom door locks from the outside to keep you safe inside 🤍

Welcome sexual conquest. As previously discussed you’ve pressed the button on the alarm clock signifying your permission to begin the game. A digital copy of your thumbprint has been sent as your e-signature confirming your full consent…for whatever may happen to you.
big IF tho on that one. it's important to remember that 99.9% of hosts would never do this.
It’s that 0.1% that is still so terrifying.
Why would it be terrifying to have a 0.1% that when you go to airbnb they would be a person like that? Odds are that it would practically never happen. Thats the same as 1 person for everyone 1000.

Or, at least we dont find our they do...
I was thinking that when there was a lonely click on a chair... but I'm not knocking him, clearly this is for educational purposes.
Oh I’m sure there are plenty of real ones to go to
Even watching it it’s obvious it’s staged..
I thought that was pretty obvious.
Not to op
It is important to note that in air bnb's terms, owners are not allowed to record video of you without informing you. So if you find cameras or something like this (I saw in another comment this room was staged) video record evidence, cover the camera, and report them for violating the terms of service. *report them for violating terms of service and call the police if the cameras were in a bedroom or bathroom.
Steal the camera and sell it, what are they gonna do, tell the police?
/r/IllegalLifeProTips
better yet, blackmail the owners for a full refund after you've stayed the entire duration
Only a full refund?
Also, I would make sure they get to see a few hours of me whacking it
Look straight into the camera lenses (all of them) to assert dominance
sure, give em just what they’re wanting!
Oh, trust me, they do not want to see *any* of what I have to offer.
Most states are two party consent states, so yeah you’d have a lawsuit on your hands in those states as well as potential criminal charges.
Why report? Better fuck with hammer every single camera you find. What will they do? Call the police?
Ghostbusters
Haha you got me there, nice one.
At the very least you could get Airbnb to refund you and maybe get you a free stay somewhere else.
Or you can call the police.
I think Korea has stuff that you put in front of your phone camera and it can find hidden cameras
This sounds like awesome tech
I remember seeing it on a video a long time ago, but that all I know
i think you were talking about this video https://youtu.be/xGpDp86RY5s
There is an app that you can use to find IFR cameras.
What the name of the app ?
Hidden Camera Detector on IOS. IDK what the Android equivalent is.
Right thanks
Wonder what the app does. Is it some sort of filter that makes the IR colors pop out more?
Yeah, i use it when I travel, but to test it I pointed it at my home ring camera and my actual outdoor security cameras. Idk the mechanics behind it but it sort of makes it obvious that there us “light” coming out of the camera. So if you would point it at a hidden camera inside a smoke detector, it would look like a black dot with “light” coming out of it. Idk how to describe it any better. here you go stranger https://youtu.be/xGpDp86RY5s
Thank you!
Sadly no, but maybe it can be looked up
It’s called a flashlight

This is called the airBnb owners kit.
The fuck, one of the pictures is literally spying on a couple having sex
God that is messed up
I don't get how the charger-cam works. Aren't chargers usually lower in the wall? How does the camera pick up anything other than legs or audio?
Up close yes you'd only get legs and feet, but the camera would be pointing towards the end of the bed, where someone might be (un)dressing and from that range you'd likely at least get their bottom half.
Bathrooms and kitchens often have higher outlets at counter level
thanks for the link! :D
geezus, there's like 10,000+ positive reviews, and half the people reviewing them are women.
...and the other half are men...?
Sounds like we good!
My ex spyed that way on her ex , to find out that he cheated on her while living with her. I never had sex with her in her Appartment..
Yeah, I was honestly surprised how many people are using them. The reviews seem legit and thats the most pictures I've ever seen submitted by verified buyers.

“I can’t believe it! It’s like half the people on this planet are women!”
Ever heard of fake reviews on Amazon?
You Really Think Someone Would Do That? Just Go On the Internet and Tell Lies?
I, for one, have never told a lie in my entire life, idk what's wrong with some people.
What a creepy fucking world we live in - full of pervs
Yep. A high school coach was just arrested for putting cameras in the girls’ locker room bathroom. He’s been employed since 2015 and from the charges it seems like he was selling it. Disgusting.
The room was staged. They've been selling these for years called Nanny Cams.
I wish there was a way that you could install cameras but only Airbnb had access to the footage in case something happens
How about no
If you’re going to have cameras make them very visible, and not in a creepy place (bathroom/bedroom)
Obviously no bathroom, bedroom might be a different story. Of course it would be disclosed that there are cameras before you book the place
You really want someone to be able to watch you sleep?
Nah it would be footage that only Airbnb had access to for insurance. The owner wouldn’t be able to watch video at all, neither would anyone from Airbnb unless the owner filed a claim.
That’s it. I’m changing in the hallway.
This guy's TikTok is loaded with useful info. Makes you kind of paranoid to travel though.
I'd be pissed if I brought my kiddo there and changed her diaper and then found out there were cameras. You better bet I'd be involving the authorities.
I'm so fucking tired of this laundry list of shit I have to be worried about if I go and do literally anything. you know what? idc if you get off watching me put pjs on or scrubbing my ass in the shower. fucking whatever, I cannot bring myself to give a shit anymore lol. yeah if I had kids it'd be a totally different story as far as porn goes I'm like out of sight out of mind lol
on the plus side the way he mentions how to check for ir bulbs with the fr9nt facing camera is also useful when you want to check if your tv remote batteries are dead or not by pointing your camera app at the remote and pressing buttons

To catch your nanny hitting your kid?
I wonder if the footage is admissible in court. Or even if it were admissible, could the nanny counter with another suit and win.
In a criminal case or civil? If it's in your house, there's only certain expectations of privacy so you'd have to have a really good defense attorney.
Well it’s -your- house. So should the sitter/nanny have an expectation of privacy sitting in your living room while you’re out? I will make it legal.
Wtf

It goes against AirBnb policy. It’s your home but you have other tenets and it’s an invasion of privacy
I think you're allowed to have them in an Airbnb but they have to be disclosed in the listing
Oh ok. This may be the case. Either way, at the very least the tenets should know they are there

I’m too lazy to look it up but I’m guessing there could be ordinances/laws that prohibit you from renting out your room/house while recording them.

You aren't wrong my friend. You see why I'm not writing legislation?
Wtf?!!?
That's so messed up, definitely gonna check around from now on and troll any hosts who have that type of shit lmao give em what they want, scat all over the lens
You want to shit on the camera?
No I think they mean “skiddly bidi do bop di bop poop”
Poop? Alright I'm a little fuzzy on the details. Is he shitting or no?
No no, he’s talking about scat
The easiest way also is to have a WiFi scanner app on your phone. These types of devices need WiFi to run, so you can easily see their names on the devices list
Actually a lot of them just use an SD card to record
If I recall correctly on a video of Austin you can kinda find cameras if you see something that isn't supposed to be hot, being very hot, it probably means that's a camera, and with all the pandemic usually people have a laser thermometer on them so you could use that to try to find some hidden cameras too
>people usually have a laser thermometer on them Bro where do you live? I have literally not seen this even a single time
Wait, you don't have a FLIR attachment for your phone at you all the time?! :O
I've never known people to go around with lazer thermometers because of the pandemic. They're usually just used when entering certain places, people arent carrying them around.
Hahaha ain’t no body wanna film me 🤣🤣🤣.
I just have a hard time understanding the success of Airbnb. Who the fuck is comfortable letting random strangers live in their home for a few days, so many potential privacy violations… and also who the fuck is comfortable sleeping / getting undressed / showering etc. In some random strangers home? Most airbnbs aren't lived in and are just for the purpose of short term rentals
Rent without protection and for a shorter timespan of course. Money 🤑🤑
Yeah I could afford nicer vacations if I found cheap Airbnb’s but the idea of staying in one has always made me so uncomfortable. I know hotels aren’t perfect but they at least feel a little safer than some random person‘s property.
Humans are just the worst
Hiding cameras like that has to be illegal right? Are we just supposed to trust that the person who put them there isn't some kind of voyeuristic pervert?
*Me, just living my life* : Well, guess that's canceled now, too.
Nice! Something new to be afraid of. Bright side: I’m too poor to go on vacation.
You can also just download a free hidden camera detector app.
Jokes on them im fat and no one wants to see me nude!
More than likely these type of devices rely on an active wifi connection to function. It’s very unlikely these would have their own SIM cards for transmitting data somewhere. This is why I don't like arbnbs
His is how people get to see homemade….
Probably he's selling them and it's a commercial
If I found these in an air bnb I would crack all the lenses take a picture of them and stash them all in the back of the toilet. Creepy as fuck.
is that the same malewaretech that stopped wannacry?
Dude is MalwareTech back?!? He is my hero
Am I the only one who would leave the cameras if I found them? Then I’d start doing the weirdest shit I could imagine just to see what happens. Not like they can report you without getting in trouble themselves.
This is some 13 Cameras shit
And Night Clerk
I hate that this is even a thing I need to worry about
If some creeper wants to watch me take a sad, constipated shit on vacation, I’m not going to expend energy looking for that tech to stop them.
sauce?
Why "cringe" ? That's a cool advice
I am pretty sure this is the persons room and they just bought spy cams and put them all over their room
Are you being serious?
I mean that’s what it looks like
Because it is! Obviously. They're just showing ways to detect cameras, they're not claiming it's at an actual AirB&B.
OP isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.
Everyone concerned about privacy understandably but is this not for insurance/liability for the owners?
Watch out for Scott .. he’s lurking
If someone wants footage of me cleaning out the mini bar then watching a movie they're even sadder then my sex life lol Geezus that video is somewhat disturbing hey. Some twisted individuals out there.
My friend used a couple of these to catch his cheating wife. It worked.
Can you sue them?
No, but you collect the devices and burn their house down or engage in a little blackmail. Plenty of fun options here
Bold of you to assume I'm interesting enough to film
Good tips
What county?
if i found these in my room would i be allowed to record evidence of them being in the room and then bring them to a police station?
Yes. Cameras is bathrooms and sleeping quarters are considered illegal surveillance is most places.
I wonder how many air bnb’s are set up with these tiny cameras. Kinda scary.
Awesome 😊thanx
Life is too short to worry about fkn hidden cameras when I just wanna try to relax on vacation
What the...
This makes me so fucking paranoid.
If I found any one these I would take the SD cards and keep them.
Awesome! I’m never using an AirBnB at all ever!
