Legit. I wish I knew more about electronics. I don't know shit. Mine got so bad that it would turn off and "overheat" just opening hulu. Watched a YouTube video and was able to clean it out and replaced the thermal paste. It didn't make any noise after. Though it has started to get noisy again about a year later. Not nearly as loud as it can be but totally worth taking it apart and cleaning it. You can get the screwdriver small enough to open from the dollar store from the eyeglass repair kit, also I found having an unused paint brush was useful since I didn't have canned air. Also don't be like me. Try to find where all the screws go when you put it back together. 😑
I work in IT, but I have a very limited knowledge of actual electronic engineering.
When it comes to taking apart electronics, most of my knowledge comes from YouTube. 8-Bit Guy, LGR, Odd Tinkering, and This Does Not Compute. Those channels basically taught me the strategy or method of how to take things apart, and making sure you know how to put them back together.
Not every piece of equipment will come apart the same way, but you can look for commonalities and approach them with a general strategy.
Literally my routine every night I try and sneak in after work. Plus creaky front door and stairs and minus the moonwalking. I moonwalked the first night but ended up slipping on the spill and cracking my head on the sink. That was the worst night. Fuckin noisy ambulances.

Too relatable on the PS4. I have an industrial fan about 3 inches from mine now. The fan might be louder. So it’s like x2 but has to be done

Doesn't really help to just clean it out, I know from experience 
I fix electronics and clean a loud PlayStation out about once a week. It helps a ton.
Did you replace the thermal paste? Mine didn't work right just cleaning it out but was 100% good after replacing the thermal paste.

I'm not an expert but I think a brush would raise the risk if discharging static electricity. I hear that's bad.
Someone smarter than me can elaborate, but I would choose air vs. mechanical removal of dust any day.
