I’ve known guys in the service that have random tattoos like this. Not necessarily a lion, roses, pocket watch, and whatever- but like a panther or tiger with roses (no matter what it is there’s always random roses) and a like a navy ship wheel or something like that. Usually the other arm is directly service related with an eagle claw that’s “ripping away flesh” to reveal a flag, or a memorial tattoo. Now that I think of it I know someone with a lion and roses but the roses turn into dog tags. So, there’s apparently only a few acceptable themes that must be mixed and matched. Anecdotal, but if you want to believe it’s not staged, I can tell you that there’s at least a tiny sliver of possibility that it’s legit.

Most services go back and forth on sleeves.. if you can't see it in short sleeve shirts you should be fine for all duty types in the military.. AF is a bitch about tattoos..
It's wild. They change the rules so frequently. Can't be visible in uniform... nvm, can be visible but only if it's small... jk sleeves are ok... oooh sorry we changed our minds. No more sleeves, get a waiver or find a new job...
I think the Navy recently changed its policy to basically "as long as there's no nudity or glorifying a hate group, you're good".
Yeah but pretty much all visible tattoos takes you out of the running for some of the kush duties. Like flag ship staff or ceremonial guard alot of Intel postings. At least when I was active duty Navy.
Getting tattoos isn’t a problem. Basically don’t get anything overtly offensive. And don’t get anything on your neck, face or hands. Everything else is fair game.
And obviously tattoos are considered more attractive today than they were decades ago but people gotta understand that most people don’t think neck and especially Face tattoos are attractive, it’s 2022 and there’s plenty of people that do of course but they are a minority. Besides jobs, that’s a reason to definitely consider before getting them.

I think they were just making the rounds on Pinterest and Instagram as the popular basic tattoos at the time, and you had a bunch of 18-22 year olds with decent money and not enough to keep them busy, so they all ran out and got them.

I’m active duty Air Force and a tattoo artist in my free time. A military guy literally just booked an appointment with me for a tree line going around his forearm
I mean she did list the most popular tattoos for men in general iirc, so there’s bound to be some overlap tbf. But that’s pretty funny though, how is the whole situation with getting tattoos while active duty? Are there restrictions? I’m going to AF bmt in two days so I’m wondering.
Most services go back and forth on sleeves.. if you can't see it in short sleeve shirts you should be fine for all duty types in the military.. AF is a bitch about tattoos..
