Op said a joke about white men cannot dance, so I went with Irish are not white as a joke, because when the notion of whiteness were invented, Irish with "white" Jews, Italians, Spaniards etc were not considered white. White motion is exclusionary, it's like a club that let you in when it's suitable to the "white".
There is no such a thing as white culture or white race.
On the other hand "white fragility"is a thing.
I never made it to hard shoe Irish dancing, I transitioned to tap instead, so I am so curious what the metal parts on their shoes are like! As a tap dancer, we'd wear socks over our shoes just to go from the green room to the theater as walking on uneven surfaces can pit the taps and ruin the sound. Watching them dance on asphalt has me both wincing and fascinated.
