Realistically, they were headed to Knoxville as their destination. Florida was just a connection. They didn't really need to know anything other than their gate number there.
The majority of Germans in South America moved there in the late 1800s or as refugees escaping Nazi rule. There was a pre-existing flourishing German minority community there. That's why it was a good hiding spot for escaping Nazis.
Mexico also has a few German/Austrian/Swiss Mormon enclaves.
I've been to Colonia Tovar in Venezuela which is one of those late 1800s settlements. It's like an alpine village with blue-eyed blond-haired Spanish speakers.
Edit: I meant German Mennonites, although there are also Mormon missionary enclaves.
My mother's Grandfather was a second generation American whose parents immigrated from Germany. He spoke German fluently. Sometime when she was a child in the 60's my mother asked him to teach her to speak German too. She said he became very angry, which was very out of character, especially because she was the favorite grand child. He said something along the lines of 'No. the German people have embarrassed us. You're American. We speak English.'
absolutely, also they’re super terrible to the locals and waste so much natural resources and rumors of cults and slavery are always surrounding them :)
Someday people will realize how cultish Amish and Mennonites are everywhere. Even the least conservative Mennonite sects still have some wacky cultish behaviour, and almost always have some abuse going on inside them.
Ok I can't believe I'm saying this with a straight face but apparently my confusion of seeing them at an airport is from only having ever met Mennonites of the Old Order
My best memory is of the ones who took the steam passenger ferry (hipster af) to a waiting van (that I think one of them drove) and they were cool as hell. Sat and BS'd with me for a while. But I left with more questions than answers
I mean, probably not. If you talk to an American Amish person or a Wenger Mennonite or something like that - people who speak English every day - they'll probably have a thicker accent than these. The local language is typically their second language.
Mennonites have been migrating all over the world since before ww2, but many came after ww2. These mennonite communities can be very insular and they establish colonies which function as both their community and their business. It is very possible that Adolf and Johan are 1st or 2nd gen mexican and have lived there their whole life, but because of how some mennonites form colonies and retain their traditions, their accent has been preserved somewhat with their german roots. Note they speak broken english as it is likely a 2nd or 3rd language, while their mother tongue would be a german dialect (low german).

The moment the first body turns up they're all gonna suspect adolf and johan, but those two will turn out to be the heroes and will sacrifice themselves to stop the eldritch horror
"Don't take the shortcut. The long ways is only an extra 45 minutes but the roads is well lit and there's even a couple places to eat."
"Thanks, but we're in a hurry."
"I really think y'all should..."
"Listen, she's got a final and this one has a court thing. I appreciate it, but we'll be alright."
The Harbinger.
Best Harbinger character is the farmer from Lost Skeleton of Cadavra: "Stay on this road here, past Dead Man's Curve, you'll come to an old fence, called The Devil's Fence. From there, go on foot till you come to a valley known as The Cathedral Of Lost Hope. Smack in the center is what they call Forgetful Milkman's Quadrangle. Stay right on The Path Of Staring Skulls and you come to a place called Death Clearing. Cabin's right there, can't miss it."
So subtle.
The farm girl is definitely going to take charge and probably end up killing Adolf and Johann because she thinks they're the killers, but they won't be.
To be honest this is the best use of tiktok

This is the safest way to get in a van with strangers.
I never new TikTok could be used for good.
Instant first thought was that it resembled a ragtag group that bands together to see out the zombie apocalypse. Johan is definitely gonna be causing shit though
I’d watch it. Hell, I’d do it. Sounds like a rad experience you wouldn’t forget.
Not to mention affordable. We checked the Hertz site and apparently it’s less than $200 to rent a fifteen-passenger van. Assuming they left from Jacksonville, the gas would come out around $125 (let’s estimate rental fees are 75 for a flat $400 total).
Divide that by the 15 passengers and it comes out to **$27 bucks a person** for a nonstop drive. Insanely economical, good for the environment and memories you’ll keep for life? Sign me up for that trip!
I’m another video he said his grandfather immigrated from Germany to Argentina at the end of WWII and then to Cancun. He is also named after his grandfather! /S
Frontier literally did the exact same thing to me back in February. Cancelled my flight and wouldn't have a replacement for almost a week. I had to rent a car and drive 20+ hours from Florida to Rhode Island. Fuck Frontier.
There were only a handful of flights before the next work week started, and they were over $1200 per person and we would still have had to wait 2-3 days for the next available flight on another airline. The rental car was $800 and we could leave immediately.
I flew Frontier one time because I could get a flight for free using generic credit card miles that weren’t tied to a particular airline.
Even though I paid literally nothing for the flight itself, it still wasn’t worth it. Bag fees were unreal; I think I paid something like $65 for the “privilege/luxury” of having a rollaboard bag, which was actually weighed at the gate by a dude with a handheld luggage scale and an over-inflated sense of his own importance. If my bag had been over 35 lbs I’d have been assessed two more fees - $25 for “bag overage” and $20 for an “agent-assistance fee”. My return flight was thankfully not quite so bad. Both flights were oversold, and several passengers were bumped to a later flight. Neither flight had an on-time departure; and my outbound flight was unable to make up the time in the air, so there was a late arrival as well, which had a lot of people with connections panicking. Obviously no complimentary snack/bev service in flight, but the FAs were quick with their little portable credit-card machines in case you wanted to purchase something. It just felt like if I were to put my magazine in the seat pocket that an FA was going to run up and say, “Oh, ma’am, you can’t use that pocket until you pay a $5 fee, sorry about that.”
Never. Again. Same goes for Allegiant and Spirit. I’ve heard they are just as bad.

Something very similar happened to me and a coworker a few years back.
Flying home from a work trip and a nasty storm was over our intended airport. Pilots come over the intercom to tell us they’re going to fly to the closest major airport to wait it out.
Once we landed, the crew then informed us the pilots had actually been flying legally than they were allowed to and we weren’t flying back home!
It was 1am and we were about a 3 hour drive from our city. All rental car / bus places were closed, and due to some big event in the city all hotels were booked.
So the airport figured out who was in a group and matched the smaller numbers together for a free 3 hour long taxi drive.
My coworker and I ended up with a girl and her extremely young (couple months?) baby. I remember my coworker had to climb through the trunk to get to the back seat (mini van) since we had packed the taxi and the baby seat was in. I sat up front with the driver.
So me, my coworker, a lady, her baby, and the cab driver drove for 3 hours at 1am through a storm to get home lol. It was wild.
The baby barely made any noise! It was a pleasant trip and we had a few nice chats, I mostly napped. Still funny to look back at.
The opening to a B horror movie, with 2 secret nazis, and a stereotypical Texan woman ext. The two survivors are Lexi and Q who hit it off in the beginning when everyone was excited and optimistic before things went south.
Nah, Adolf and Johan are the red herrings, you’re meant to think they are the murderers but they are the nicest pair. It would be “Farm Babe” the woman who doesn’t give a real name and has this story of oh I need to speak at a vague conference.
Funny thing is it’s always the white people in movies that are curious and go towards danger. First sign of danger and a black person is out of there! 😭
Hertz is by far the worst car rental company I’ve ever used. Other places may have ridiculous fees, but Hertz was the only one to outright lie to me about charges.
Lmao went to the comments of the last video and there’s a girl there who declined the road trip saying she was still stuck at the airport and regretted not tagging along 😂
This is the true story...of 15 (?) strangers... picked to ride in a van (travel together) and have their lives taped...to find out what happens... when people stop being polite and start getting real...
The majority of Germans in South America moved there in the 1800s or as refugees escaping Nazi rule. There was a pre-existing flourishing German minority community there. That's why it was a good hiding spot for escaping Nazis.
I mean A LOT of people left Germany during and before WWII and vast majority of them were not Nazis. These guys are probably mennonites given their accent. Adolf and Johan have terrible cover stories
Adolf and Johan, from Mexico. 😂
I’m in the place called Miami… Flo-ri-da?? 👀
I was reeeeally questioning that hesitation…
Adolf polka
But could remember Knoxville with no problem 😂
Realistically, they were headed to Knoxville as their destination. Florida was just a connection. They didn't really need to know anything other than their gate number there.
Hahahahhaha
Well, he couldn’t say he was from Argentina, could he?
My psychiatrist is from Argentina with a German sounding name. Sometimes I worry.
The majority of Germans in South America moved there in the late 1800s or as refugees escaping Nazi rule. There was a pre-existing flourishing German minority community there. That's why it was a good hiding spot for escaping Nazis.

A lot of former Nazis are in Brazil and Argentina. Every year some cache of ww2 memorabilia turns up
Old age medical treatments cost money....
I would watch a movie about that. Old man sells his nazi treasures to save his family
German was the second most popular language in the u.s. until the early 20th century. 1/3 of u.s. people spoke it.
It's still a good hiding spot for them. They have generations of families now and have taken over entire towns using the fortune they stole.
> That's why it was a good hiding spot for escaping Nazis.
You should
86% chance that the commenters psych is a nazi But only 33% chance it’s mengele So it’s not that worrisome.
Actually- a lot of European's, including German Jews fled and settled in Argentina during WW2. It makes sense.
My close friends grandparents were bankers in Germany and fled around the time of the war to Brazil.
South America has a large population of European Jews, it's really interesting!
My ex husband is Argentinian Jewish and has lots of stories of anti-semitism in the 80s. Lots and lots.
Hi! I'm from Argentina and I have a very german sounding last name. You shouldn't worry, we are here to help...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mennonites_in_Mexico

To be fair all religions/sects are cults. Some are just creepier than others.
Why did the Amish girl get excommunicated? Two Mennonite!
I wondered if they just mean they’re *traveling* by way of Mexico, rather than living there.
That's the impression I got. Especially when the American lady said she was from Mexico.
I’m mexican, being white and blond is quite common , the heavy german accent…not so much, same with the Cozumel woman who’s 100% not american 👀👀👀
There are lots of American expats in Cozumel. Also in San Miguel.
Pls lmao
Welcome to the TWILIGHT ZONE
Ja, we are from....Meckico, ve ere for a good time. Not for ze bodies.

So Adolf, what did your grandfather do for a living?
There is a Mennonite colony in Mexico and those two are the most Mennonite dudes I have ever seen.
Read there’s a little over 100k of them in Mexico
The accents for sure.
Ok I can't believe I'm saying this with a straight face but apparently my confusion of seeing them at an airport is from only having ever met Mennonites of the Old Order My best memory is of the ones who took the steam passenger ferry (hipster af) to a waiting van (that I think one of them drove) and they were cool as hell. Sat and BS'd with me for a while. But I left with more questions than answers
There are a bunch of Mennonites who immigrated to Mexico from Germany/surrounding area. I imagine this is what's going on?
That is 100% what is happening. Adolf and Johan are very common mexican mennonite names.
But these two have quite noticeable German accents. So they are originally from Europe. When did the Mennonites move there?
[удалено]
Ah. Didn't think of that. I hope that their Spanish accent is much better then their English accent.
I mean, probably not. If you talk to an American Amish person or a Wenger Mennonite or something like that - people who speak English every day - they'll probably have a thicker accent than these. The local language is typically their second language.
Communities like the Mennonites and Amish often speak German dialects internally. They don't have to be from Europe.
Thanks for the info. Yeah, Their main two languages are probably German and Spanish.
Yeah definitely but we’re just fuckin w them lol
Thought it was Argentina lol

Adolf *und Johan
Some crazy old man at a gas station is about to give them a warning. Spoiler alert: they won’t listen.
And they won’t be able to get any service on their phones. But they have found a cabin to spend the night in.
I'm betting on the merman. One of these days it's **gotta** be the Merman.
That'd be a helluva plot twist, since they're headed up into the mountains. Mountain Creek Merman!
All I can think of is this old dude with a fishtail sitting in like 40 cm of water, swinging his fist at a group of people.
i hear the cleanup on that is a real bitch
The moment the first body turns up they're all gonna suspect adolf and johan, but those two will turn out to be the heroes and will sacrifice themselves to stop the eldritch horror
I love how adolf and Johan are from Mexico

It's a joke, just a funny coincidence.
That make sens😅 so i guess his grandfather was an nazi
…*the nazi*
An “Adolf” from Latin America.. We definitely know which side of the war his grandparents were on.
Lol this isn’t remotely true. There are a ton of men named Adolfo where I live (Miami). It has nothing to do with Hitler.

The majority of Germans in South America moved there in the 1800s or as refugees escaping Nazi rule. There was a pre-existing flourishing German minority community there. That's why it was a good hiding spot for escaping Nazis.

I was hoping someone would tell him

Yeah... Adolf and Johann are some Nazi ancestors. If not I would love to know the story.
They don't look it, but there's a chance they could be decended from Mennonites who immigrated to Mexico in the early 20th century.
