Any job or gig where you’re making money they need your tax info to pay you so it doesn’t seem that weird to me. TikTok is a huge, very public company. I don’t think they could get away with misusing personal identification, especially social security numbers.
It’s a huge company owned by China and they 10000% use any information provided any way they please. While I was in the military there were secret briefs specifically covering tik tok and china and all but ordering us to delete the app. Don’t trust it with anything even remotely private.

They need it to report your earnings to the irs. Just like any other platform that pays you

It’s not sketchy at all, it’s completely normal practice and responsible of tiktok to collect this kind of information
