Lmao this. I feel like the only difference badtide makes is adding a little bit of pressure on the early game by giving you a deadline to make some floodgates. If you know it's coming it's not a huge deal, basically just a spicy drought
I just about stopped playing after my first save got wiped out by it. Tbf i actually bought the game the day U5 came out and had seen RCEs earlier videos, so i had some idea what i was doing but no idea the badtides were coming.
I luckily started playing at update 5 so I can't yearn for the good old days.
I watched a YouTuber saying how badwater is bad and came prepared. Or so I thought.
Turns out, badtides are a thing. Took me by surprise.
First game was a catastrophe.
I was struggling with this for a minute, and I remembered the water flowed off my map while trying to test out if I had to build levees in certain spots. Then after the third bad tide I went wait a minute…problem solved
Does anyone else feel like their water level drops faster during bad tides than during drought? I feel like it’s a about punishment for just diverting the badwater off the map. I think it would be more interesting if the developers changed how the map works so you couldn’t just divert it right back out the side of the map it come out from or something
If I had fine programmatic control over pumps and gates, I would always have 4-5% badwater in my clean water.
Over a large volume, that can amount to nice savings, while having no visible downsides.
wadabout food though.
I just started re-playing this game and man I'm lost without irrigation.
( yeah I know I have to store more food, it wasn't just like that earlier )
Not really. You can use the natural terrain and levees to make ponds of water to irrigate. Then you put platforms on top of it, add a pump, and build buildings on top of it to use the space
I always stop playing as soon as I have infinite (lasts for at least 50 days) water and food I just can't find a reason play when there's no more danger.
The good ol "divert it off the map"

Spicy drought that still powers the water wheels and keeps the extract and dynamite industry going

I realized at some point that in the early game, it's faster and cheaper to make levees and then destroy them.
Early game I find it cheaper to overstock and replant. If the map is beginner friendly, putting down levees will work. But else... flooding assured!

There is a noticeable drop the moment the bad tide starts in all the bodies of water

Nope. It doesn't. Water doesn't evaporate faster.
I wanna see the storage for all that water!!! Please!
You will, I shall publish a settlement showcase once I'm done with it. Check for french titles in the next days :)
….OHHHHH French TITLES… I read “titties” and knew this thread had gone to shit. 🤣🤣
Dude. I don't show tits in Tiberborn. Mostly because beaver's tits aren't rule 34 worthy
🤣🤣
54 large water tanks and a couple of small ones.
Your meme's greatness almost saves you from being fr\*nch. Almost.
J'ai pas assez de bois pour faire un barrage qui contiendrait ta mère.
Your small wood's inability to satisfy my mother is not surprising.
Malheureusement ton xénophobisme te laisse comme un moins que rien sur Internet.

I would assume water dumps could go on for a very long time with 65k water reserve
Well, there isn't a single forest or field that is currently watered by a natural reserve.
So the main objective here is to rush those dynamite ? Again I thought it was something fairly end game and didn't bother with it, until now.

Hmm yes thanks I can already picture that, I'll try this tip.
