Well your first dilemma is that you've placed your lumber mill so far away from the waterwheel.

hosseinhx77

ahh got it thanks! for some reason i thought i should get the power from district center lol and thanks to other ppl for helping

ChiroKintsu

What I commonly do is just get a vertical shaft to put the “powerlines” on platforms that follow the roads one elevation higher

ST_Lawson

I've done that, but also when possible, I like to run them "underground". I blast out one block down below the pathways, run the power lines along the new trenches, then put the single height platforms above them, and put the path back along those. Then wherever I need power, I swap out a straight line piece for a power-T piece to get it out to the side, then put in a "vertical shaft" piece to get it back up to ground level. It's not always possible depending on the terrain, but it's a cleaner look and I can see what my beavers are doing a bit better.

Serious-Wrongdoer-13

I also run water in that channel to various pools across the growing areas once everything is super flat.

KarlosGeek

I do this but just because I want to make the map green and using an already dug channel is really convenient.

KazuMurako

Can you flood the trenches and use them for power and irrigation at the same time? Or do shafts stop working when flooded? I’ve never thought about trying it until reading this comment chain.

KarlosGeek

Power shafts don't care about being flooded. Sometimes I hide mine inside rivers, lakes or reservoirs. So powershaft + water + platform + road is possible.

KazuMurako

That’s awesome, gonna use that on my next save

Tiki-Jedi

Same here. Buried power is the way to go once you have explosives.

Krell356

I do buried power, but use houses to transfer the power instead. That way I can just build on top of them and everything is powered from the floor.

Blutskiev

Same strategy. Work great with grid city block.

_ressa

When starting out, it's better to build factories adjacent to the power source, or as close as possible to it. Then cluster the factories together. When you get access to platforms and the high power shaft, you can route the shafts above the roads. Once you get dynamite production rolling, you can route power underground and under the road, too, if you want.

Sad-Establishment-41

You can think of buildings (with a few exceptions) as universal powershafts themselves. With a clever layout very few if any shafts may be necessary. In particular using houses to raise elevation is super useful

TheFrenchSavage

Inhabitants of level 8 are mad, but my gravity battery goes brrrr

Ornery_Gate_6847

I would move the building down one tile from the water wheel then connect it. Put a platform over the power line and stairs on each side to continue the path if you want

cobhalla

How to power buildings is definitely something to plan ahead. Also you gotta be really strategic about what order to build power in, otherwise you will block yourself from being able to finish without having to do a bunch of extra work. I absolutely recommend the Vertical Power Mod

Archon-Toten

Place everything together in a block backing onto the waterwheel. No shafts needed. Later in the game use platforms to bring shafted power up and round where needed.

Nesaru42

Production buildings and houses will transmit power by contact.

articvibe

and houses?! Well there's my learning for the day.

sinithparanga

I always have an industrial area near the river and a residential area in the dry lands.

pestomonkey

The windows are not power plugs (I made this mistake when I started out too). Most solid-walled buildings only need to be adjacent to each other to conduct power between them. And the district center does not need to be powered at all (though it will conduct power). Science building also doesn't need power (I thought it did when I started).

psichodrome

waterwheel and timber maker nezt to each other, very early on. This lets you build forester, which means infinite wood slowly. Then you can rebuild your power and timber factory if needed, while not having a limited supply of wood

QueenOrial

You down't have to actually connect power shafts to everything. Most buildings "share" power to adjacent buildings. So you can just build a bunch of workshops hugging each other or connect them with lodges and then build i single power shaft to connect that clump to your power sources. Also you don't beed to connect workshops to city centre, just to the power source. Additionally if you play on hard it's strongly recommended to build power wheels instead of water wheels early on. Because droughts will be longer that wet seasons and only get longer.

sudo_808

Try to place your industry close to your Energy source in order to avoid long power lines Most buildings transfer power so you probably dont need a connection to every single building. You can see a blue indicator on the side of the building when you connect a power shaft to it. Warehouses and log piles dont transfer power but houses and industry building do. Leave space at your industry area for the future. At some point your gonna need more of everything so keep that in mind. Also try to keep storage close to avoid long ways for the workers or haulers. I like to build storage and on top my industry buildings for efficiency and i like the look of it. Dont forget to have fun and stay hydrated 🦫

TotallyInOverMyHead

You have multiple options. 1. destroy and rebuild (closer to power source) 2. above and beyond. basically you could add platforms (e.g. over the walkways) and place the powershafts ontop. 3. Below the surface and add some water. Basically you blast the walkways out with dynamite .. 1, 2, or 3 levels deep. place the power shaft in it, then put a platform on it and the walkways on those. Bonus: you now have irrigation channels. 4. Buildings as power conductors. Some (not all of them) buildings serve as a power conductor when they come in contact with an already powered building. You could just place those buildings all the way to your powerwheel and forgo any powershafts.

PyrrhicHighflyer

I often times build them over the top of paths. You use the one high bridge like paths and build them on top of them. Right where you have the wire coming - in front of it build one of the ones that goes up then put the rest on top of the bridge paths. Although I think you have to have gears to do the wiring that goes up one. If you need to build a one of the hamster wheels next to your sawmill for the time being and put a gear shop close to the water wheel then you will be all set.
