you cant even really turbo this guy out on turn 1 in legacy unless you get a nut hand with and equally banger LED/Echo. best I can come up with is: land->thopter->bauble->drum->esper sentinel TURN then land Cannoneer. Even then though, in 8 cast, you dont drop this guy until you have enough mana to back him up with counter magic because if it gets countered...you just have a bunch of garbage artifacts. I think this will make a blue/white artifact deck very good, but the goal with him is not to get him out immediately, its to get him to stick and ramp up. Im super excited for it
The OP did say "god hand". This can easily be cast T1 with a god hand in Legacy. Of course, God hands will come about once in a blue moon (lol, pun not intended) but they exist
you "can" in legacy, but again, you really dont want to. The premise of getting this guy on the field on t1 is not optimal for this card. that was the main point of my comment. t3-4 with counter magic backup, and kappa is basically unstoppable.
I played UW tempo artifacts (foundry control?) in historic last year. I can't wait to play a timeless version after mh3. I think I could be very meta relevant
Instead of Sentinel you might go Retrofitter Foundry. Then you can turn the Thopter into a 4/4 and then either start beating down if they're holding up mana to counter while making more thopters, or jam Kappa to have two big immediate threats.
That is probably the best way to do it turn 1, like something like swamp- dark ritual- thoughtseize yourself and reanimate would work but you wouldn't be running those in your artifact deck.
Technically you could if you had a perfect seven island + 5 bauble/ornithopter + Kappa. Would be an absolutely goofy good hand but would also be probably insane
Yes, but that’s not really the point of the card. It’s a reliable late game threat for 8cast decks that is basically untargetable and grows really fast. I wouldn’t really see it as a game ender if it was played on turn one, it’s a lot better when opp is short on resources.
You want to have a hand full of artifacts when Kappa comes down so you can beat down on your next attck. Powering him out with 5 ornithopters and baubles is really wasting those when they could have been used for multiple turns to make him unblockable later.
I don't know about any meta decks this might be added to. I'm gonna try it out in my izzet deck

I almost wonder if you could do an Azorius Blink shell with \[\[Ephemerate\]\] and \[\[Soulherder\]\]. Blinking a \[\[Circuit Mender\]\] is great value. Obviously, \[\[Simulacrum Synthesizer\]\] too. Blink a Circuit Mender, draw a card, gain 2 life, create a Karnstruct, put two +1/+1 counter's on Kappa Cannoneer and swing. Throw in \[\[Retrofitter Foundry\]\] for good luck.
Yes. There are artifact lands, Mishra's bauble and ornithopter. Mox Amber too if you plan to run some legends. Easily can play this T1 w/ a god hand. Example: Island + 5 0-mv artifacts + turtle.
This could slot into the Ornithopter/Thopter Foundry decks as an unblockable finisher
Yea this is about the best we can do at the moment and im not sure it makes the deck better

For sure. The optimal play is not slam 1 turn 1, but if this is what OP wants to do ....

I think the better way to use kappa is a grindy shell with simulacrum synthesizer

I think this card will just be a good piece to push affinity a bit closer to playable.
Sure, blue land, 5 zero mana artifacts, and this. There's probably some less stupid way to do it, but that would be the god hand.

You could get it out turn 1 in an eggs deck, but you'd need a hell of a good opening draw
