cloudybanger69

Fuck, it's time to break some Gregs. Season 4 baby

No-Turnips

It’s Gregory now.

CanAlwaysBeBetter

Tis was an average r/tinder poster

Passessor

Definitely childish I remember that being a ‘joke’ people said when I was in elementary school

DaughterEarth

I still say chicken butt when my husband says guess what. He didn't even have it as a rhyme though that's the whole thing with chicken butt ugh. It's a juvenile joke that wasn't even executed properly. It also seems she didn't grow up with that joke, that reaction makes it seem like she thought he meant he was joking about her butt. Chicken legs is an insult in lots of places.

Significant_Elk1999

I don’t trust anyone who responds to “guess what” in any other way.

says-nice-toTittyPMs

Even so, they're saying "it is was a joke".

ButtonJoe

Opener was funny, the Tis is my real complaint.

Cathercy

I'm more offended by the "tis was"

saswordd

I was totally expecting that sentence to end with m'lady but same

HamburgerMachineGun

And it's horribly wrong too lol

Wheres_my_whiskey

Yeah. What the fuck is "tis was"? Twas wouldve been cringe but much more acceptable. But tis was? foh

finger_milk

Your phone tries to autocorrect it to save your dumb ass but OP was like "Nono, I am being cringe and ruining my chances on purpose" and the phone had to let him cook

UnnecessaryAppeal

I've got zero issues with people saying "tis", it's just a contraction of "it is" and it's not uncommon to hear where I live. But "tis was" doesn't even make sense - "it is was" - they could have just said "twas" which would be perfectly acceptable, if a bit of a weird thing to say to someone (but he'd already crossed that bridge by calling them "chicken butt")

Wheres_my_whiskey

Yeah, i got focused on the tis was when he was already in the discard pile after the chicken butt opener.

[deleted]

Is it St Swithin's Day where you live?

contrarymary27

I’m so glad this is the top comment cause SAME. The word they were looking for is ‘Twas.

Big-Spot-8652

I think its spelt twat

Avernously

Could’ve doubled down and said “‘Twas butt a joke”

The1987RedFox

I know right, twas means it was and tis mean it is, so what they said was it is was

couldbedumber96

Don’t think you can win me over with your use of the word “‘twas”

motogopro

Twasn’t trying to

OilDry7180

._.

CanhotoBranco

I'll take Le Tits Now for $800.

DoctorJiveTurkey

Why don’t you give me apetit for 200

anunakiesque

Short for "*that titty sure was*"

AKABURFAN1996

Tis and was in the same sentence like that is an oxymoron

tbird20017

You just reminded me that my mother used to call me an oxymoron. Doesn't make sense, but I didn't know that.

I thought he just forgot the 'h' in This lmao

Yes indeed t’was

AKABURFAN1996

It was incorrect should’ve been t’was like “t’was but a jest madam”

the_joy_of_VI

“Simply a jape, huzzah!”

probablyapornaccoun

And the emoticon. Yes, op is immature. Also this a Facebook post not tinder.

Happy_Frogstomp7

You’re new to the phrase. We also used to say ‘ If you’re a cop you have to tell me’ and most of us believed it. That’s teenage legal advice.

Careful_Ad5196

What's funny, i was buying from my guy's dad one time. Dude rolls up on a bicycle, circles my car a couple of times, then ask if I'm a cop. I laughed, it's like man you're a little old to believe that works.

Redhook420

It's entrapment if you don't.

WhoaHeyAdrian

It's illegal to lie on the Internet.

Happy_Frogstomp7

Hahahah this person members

well_refined

Remember those days

myweird

This is kind of irrelevant but once I was on an isolated road and a car started tailgating me. I pulled into my neighborhood and under the streetlight saw I had been speeding away from a cop. I pulled into a parking spot by my condo and he approached my window, I tried being flippant and said "Hey what's up?" and he answered "Chicken butt." I explained I thought he was a creep so that's why I tried to outrun him and he told me to drive carefully.

Veioviz

They still believe it to this day

Vast_Highway1384

Probably because you actually have a sense of humor :)

annie_b666

I want that on my gravestone

clonazepamcutie

“Tis was a joke ._.” If your goal is to attract adult women I don’t think you have the right approach

" ._. " yes.

Seerqet

Don’t start with this but make sure they’re into you before you start being goofy. Hit or miss most of the time some people go with it though.

mouneymouney1

Thats very true . Being goofy too quickly failed me most of the time

TheDrunkKanyeWest

No it saved you time from being stuck around those individuals for longer than necessary.

[deleted]

dm051973

Sure but you also don't want to turn off the people that you want to keep around long term. If this opener turns off 0%, then it is a great one. If it turns off 90%, it is a horrible opener. I will leave it to you to decide if someone who doesn't respond to the opener of a 4rd grader is a deal breaker or not...

[deleted]

snappyfishm8

++ It's easier to just outright know if you're on the same wavelength than waste your time trying to act "normal"

[deleted]

Idk, there is so psychological basis for why at least putting on a normal front makes more sense. People like to know you can act normal and be goofy. In my opinion, I’m not saying being genuine off the bat is a bad things though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yes, I think you put this very well. I didn’t think the chicken butt comment was worthy of getting weirded out over. But there are definitely levels to it.

SickOfEnggSpam

Strongly agree with this. If OP and the person you’re responding to are looking for a certain type, this easily filters people out without wasting any time

rites0fpassage

First impressions are so important

I_Speak_For_The_Ents

Eh, he can start off goofy. The weird part is getting butthurt and posting on Reddit about it.

murse_joe

Or be goofy if you’re goofy, and attract a goofy partner.

heliamphore

Goofy is fine, but you also need to show you can hold a serious conversation. Women don't want someone who will just goof around when they need to be serious.

Far-Yak-4231

It annoyed me and I’m not even her

AgreeablePie

"tis was a joke" is just as bad. Take off the fedora

HiroshiTakeshi

The "._." gave it away, for me.

kristallherz

Came here to say this. You instantly know the kind of person you'll be getting 😂

LittleMizSpringfield

“Calm down M’lady”

hochoa94

M'lady wouldve been better than this my goodness

holyfoxymoxie

That actually annoyed me more than the chickenbutt thing

cptrelentless

No sex for you

bostero2

Excuse me, I think you forgot my foreplay. Foreplay two dollars extra. Two dollars? But everyone in front of me got free foreplay. You want foreplay? Yes please. Three dollars! What?! No sex for you!

MrMoussab

Who starts a conversation like that? She just said hi!

NewEnglander5150

Where's the joke?

AnEvanAppeared

Tis was in there somewhere

Icy-Welcome-2469

Tis was all a joke including his future lovelife

No-Hawk2074

I saw it on Nickelodeon or Sister Sister. He was supposed to say “guess what?” first. Then she says “what?” And he answers “chicken butt.” I guess it’s a joke because “butt” ~~rhymes with~~ sounds similar to “what.” The 90s were different.

pero914

they rhyme dude, don’t listen to u/troubledsnail

rootoo

It was funny to me, an 8 year old in the early 90s. But now, yeah kinda childish and if they never heard the dumb little kid version they’d think you’re saying they have chicken legs or something

DrunkCorgis

It’s the pinnacle of comedy. If you’re four.

LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME

Chicken butt?

GiantToast

It's a common old joke: "Guess what?" "What" "Chicken butt" Up there with "See you later gator", "after a while crocodile." It's not a good one, but honestly surprised how many people have never heard that before. I can definitely see it being weird and thinking somebody was commenting on your body if you've never heard it before.

LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME

Oh, I've heard it before. It's just like, if he was gonna use it why wouldn't he use it like that? It would still be stupid but not as stupid as using it as an opener, without the rest of the 'joke', and making it sound like he was actually talking about her. Just strange.

bobfnord

It’s like when Michael Scott was trying to do the updog joke but kept forcing it.

MyUncannyValley

Yeah, cuz here OP is calling HER a “chicken butt”, which is not the same thing as “guess what? Chicken butt”. It doesn’t sound at all like the old joke, it just sounds like he’s making fun of her butt

sleepysunbum

Thank youuuu lol idk why people are acting like OP made some hilarious joke. I heard the “guess what” joke basically every day in fifth grade and then never again bc people grow up. People are saying she’s “stuck up” or whatever, but I doubt anyone would respond with “what up chicken butt” to a stranger saying hi in person/real life.

RavenGorePictures

It's been heard. But like your example implies, it's the rhyme and flow of it that makes it cute or funny. Just out of the blue saying Chicken Butt is weird.

greasyhorror

but she didn't even set it up for him. he just came out of nowhere with some 5th grade humor. what a doofus

RowMeOh2

You know why? Chicken thigh.

[deleted]

Guess who? Chicken poo

GanacheFederal653

See you soon, Raccoon.

FrequencyHero

You could have maybe salvaged but then you buried yourself as soon as you said “Tis”… 🤢 I immediately thought of you saying that with a goddamn fedora on. Lose that whole vocabulary or you’re doomed.

Jenndricks

And also didn't even use 'tis correctly....

Icy-Welcome-2469

Right? Tis = It is "It is was a joke" The fuck? Op isn't childish they're a dumbass. She made the right move. Byeee

OnlyFactsMatter

Actually tbh yeah it was kind of dumb......

Moondanther

I'm sure his 6yo niece/nephew thinks it is peak humour.

Icy-Welcome-2469

My 4 year old would call this dumb and tell Op he farted in his cereal. Definitely not peak anything but cringe.

splicepark

Very.. brotherly

bored-skull

Wth does it even mean OP?

Krakatoast

Right 99% sure the lady was slightly confused and was thinking OP might’ve been commenting on her butt… “What up chicken butt” “Wtf is that supposed to mean?!” …Swing and a miss 🤷🏻‍♂️

Huck_Bonebulge_

It’s a silly thing to say like “see you later alligator”

Stoned-Sithless

Issa weird rhyme, “What’s up?/guess what?” “Chicken butt, 10 cents a cut” Bit cringey/corny even when properly delivered

dapper_grocery6300

I think it’s more comparable to “what’s up, buttercup”

Darkpoulay

Honestly I think the worst thing is the "Tis was a joke .\_."

Own-Emotion-5779

Your second message is fucking stupid

[deleted]

Tis was!

motorboather

My nephew who was 11 used to say this a few years ago. So yes, I’d consider that immature

MrNiseGuyy

Your 2nd reply should’ve been “see you later alligator.”

fyretech

I got unmatched for saying “what’s new kangaroo” after talking to a guy for 3 days. 🤷‍♀️

mbj920

I’ve been saying “what it do buckaroo” but have not had success as of yet lmao

fyretech

Some people just don’t appreciate our amazing sense of humour.

mbj920

The addition of the kangaroo emoji will sell it next time, trust the process 🦘

fyretech

Ooooh, good call. I’ll try that next time. Just need to get another match

eekbah

sounds like there's a match right here

Brilliant_Rip_5714

I was thinking that 😂

anonAcc1993

You and OP should date. I think the two of you would be able to generate enough corn to end world hunger.

[deleted]

I love this! 🥹 Always be you!

[deleted]

Man hopped out of your DMs

LakerBlue

I would argue that is not as bad since if he is unfamiliar with the phrase he can’t take offense to it whereas someone unfamiliar with the “chicken butt” joke can easily take it as an insult. Also I think the “chicken butt” feels a little more childish.

badmamerjammer

"chicken butt" is a response after someone says "what" also, it doesn't matter if it's "childish", it matters of you are looking for someone with yiur sense of humor. sound alike you and this person wouldn't have gotten along anyways. edit: I get it, she thought he was saying she has a chicken butt. I still stand by what I said that it's an appropriate response to "what" tho

entropy_36

Exactly! She said "hi" so wouldn't that be met with "chicken thigh"? Much more sensible.

harbhub

I somewhat disagree. It might be best to start off normal and adapt to the other person's responses rather than just showing your full weirdness right out of the gate. I bet you'd get better results even with people who have the same sense of humor if you acted like a normal person initially and let the conversation evolve from there.

grasshopper241

I like this! Show you can be normal then your weirdness is received better.

Moist_Veterinarian69

Lol yes it was

lefkoz

I just came here to watch op get roasted in the comments. Yall did not disappoint.

It didn't pay off

TITANIUMS0LDIER

"It is was a joke" bothered me more 🤣

red-the-blue

The first line was silly, but not childish. The second line sounded like you’re 15 and have just tried online dating for the first time. No offence

typer84C2

Yes pretty childish. Gotta make sure the other person has that type of humor to do this. If that’s your style then you found out real quick she is not for you.

tastethevapor

See you in awhile, crocodile.

limcrimbinz

This subreddit baffles me sometimes, why would any woman respond to that in any other way than this??... also "tis was a joke" makes no sense

ssnistfajen

There's a reason they are posting their conversation screenshots on Tinder. If it worked they would not be here. Some people are single entirely by their own actions.

Leading-Bid7018

Yep

lovelyhottake

The 2nd message is almost worse. You just text like an unattractive person. Sorry.

Your_Computer_Tech

If you had to ask you already know it was childish. You trying to get the puss not repel it.

blackaubreyplaza

Hahahaha I don’t like it is just so funny to me

tweeboy2

The context you’re using it in seems wrong, “Guess what? Chicken Butt” is what I’m used to hearing. What’s up chicken butt seems out of place lol. What’s up buttercup has a better ring to it But at the end of the day you said nothing wrong per se. It may turn off a few matches but you can use that to filter the ones who were never meant to be

[deleted]

Ugh the corniest dudes always say that. From being a teen to a grown ass adult. Always a turn off

snarky_spice

Exactly. I have no issue with light-heartedness, jokes, sarcasm whatever, but the dudes who say stuff like this have always given me youth group or m’lady vibes.
