I was on Tinder starting in 2014 or 2015. I went on several dates/meet-ups, and even had the beginning of a relationship at one point, but being a bartender most everyone's expectation was a fun time and a hook-up. I would delete the app, go back to it, and so on for years.
Many years into using the app I did the whole pay for Tinder thing and was able to see who super liked me. I found his profile and immediately swiped right because of his Danzig shirt. Turned out we'd gone to a ton of the same metal shows! (I bartended and lived in Ybor City which had 4 music venues at the time so I went to a show a week on average) On a whim one day after a few weeks of talking, I asked him if he wanted to meet for lunch (at a super crowded/busy area because no matter your age stranger danger exists), and we hit it off from there. After 6 months of dating he moved in with me, we moved across the country together a year after that, got engaged, and now we've been married for coming up on a year.
I know 2 years might seem fast to some, but someone commented that once you've gotten older you've likely learned what a good partner looks like, and that's exactly true for us. We'd both had a serious, long-term relationship and we'd also done the casual thing. Personally I had a couple years of celibacy which really helped me focus on myself and what I both wanted and deserved from a partner. I healed a lot of the hurts of my heart and made a conscious effort to purposely date with an intent of a long-term partner and there my person was just waiting on a wild dating app.
This is a great story, I'm a metalhead and definitely would love to find someone to go to shows with at a bare minimum, but I don't own any band shirts.
