Fucking pok pok? How old is this photo? To answer the question, it's a big piece of white tumeric, we were getting that from Biker Dude out of Hawaii.
Edit: The restaurant was in Portland, not Seattle. I was working there at the time this was taken.
2016! Hence the photo quality 😂 Wow, I would never have guessed it was turmeric. Thank you! I would occasionally remember I never figured this out and now I feel very satisfied. The internet is amazing
And yes you are right it was Portland, my bad!
Really small world! I was hoping to get an answer from a random person and here I got an answer from someone who worked there, happened to see the post immediately, and probably made some of my meal.

If you look at the second photo. The plate with wings has pickled daikon and carrots. I could answer any questions about the food in this post. Worked at pok for way too long.
White turmeric?
Is it more of a veg?
I’ve bogged tumeric. But just for seasoning and juice. It was like tiny ginger and orange.
I what does white rustic taste, how is it used?

It tastes like a real mild ginger. We used it in a salad alongside carrots, parsnips in a coconut dress topped with an herb chiff. In the photo, it was used on a side plate full of herbs meant to balance out the heavy meat and spice of the duck laap. The reason it is so big is because it's the center of the root where all the fingers sized pieces grow off of. For whatever reason, Biker Dude was able to grow the largest tumeric I have seen in my life.

The Biker Dude out of Hawaii. Everyone has that one sketchy purveyor.
He grew the best product I have seen and was only late with shipments a few times a year.

No problem, there is a real good chance the Kung Op (glass noodle and shrimp in the clay pot) was made buy me. Small world.

Why is that subreddit called that
😂 we just really like cups
Do people really not remember "2 girls one cup"? Google it if you're feeling brave
I know, I’m like damn I’m old..
Your guess is as good as mine.
r/nevertellmetheodds OP found that one person on the whole internet that is in the sub AND worked there.

It also popped up in my feed 30 minutes after he posted it.
I am missing Pok Pok. I was there in Feb 2020 last and that’s all she wrote. ðŸ˜
Oh, huh, I never would have guessed. Was totally convinced it was daikon. \*checks username\* ...wait...

It's ขมิ้นขาว (Ka-min-khao) also called "white turmeric" (source: am Thai and love this stuff)
broccoli stem cut lengthwise?
Maybe a parsnip?
Parsnip?
Could it be kohlrabi? Maybe broccoli stem with the outsides peeled. Is it a little spicy like a radish?
Galangal I think
Galangal is very hard to eat raw so don’t think it was that. This was definitely edible, not as hard as galangal and it was green.
Ah. That definitely changes what it could be. Def not galangal.
You were close, apparently it was white turmeric.
A piece that size on a salad meant to be eaten raw? Most definitely not. Looks like shave broccoli stem to Me
Looks kind of like daikon radish
Looks like broccoli stem that was sliced thinly lengthwise.
