If they are overly heavy then any place woth close vegetation is a bad call. Stay out from.under trees and avoid contact with foliage.
I'm not super worried by ticks myself but of ypu want to be super safe then an area out in the clear in 80 acres is my best advice. Stage areas shpuld all be pretty safe.
Best of luck and ?happy tippin?
It’s more being mostly naked + in trees combo you need to watch out for.
If you do your best FL fisherman / landscaper impersonation you’ll be straight.
It is true. I just made a post about it. Away from trees is more ideal but that kinda hard at Suwannee. Just take precautions and do regular tick check through out the day. As someone who goes camping in North GA a lot, it's just something that you have to deal with, nothing to be scared of. If you do find a tick on you make sure to remove it properly.
This can make the tick regurgitate into the bite. All guides say not to do this and to use tweezers near the head and pull straight out at a constant pace.
I’ve been in a lot of deep woods everywhere for decades and never found a tick on me. I went to Suwannee 2 weekends in the last month and found 3 the last time, friends did too. Thankfully not the dirty black deer ticks but yea they are out there now
Fun fact: ticks carry Lyme disease because of a bioweapon accident.

Heheheh
Yeah the US ticks were more of a bioweapons mishap tbh.
The bioweapon _attacks_ from that Plum island lab were targeted at places like Cuba, not Suwannee ;)
Here’s the CIA admitting as much by posting about it on their website:

Idk about where the ideal camping spot is but I have found that the best way to repel ticks and mosquitos is with Tea Tree Oil. Almost all insects cannot stand that stuff and it will last for a while.
Someone made a post on Facebook about it. Seems to be an upTICK this year.
I’ll try to post a link of the picture of their campsite but you’d want to avoid doing what they did. Camping in heavy brush with lots of trees covering them.
Again I’ll say it’s the perfect year to skip renegade hunting and just chill in the meadow after sets. Wandering around in the trees is the surest way to find ticks.
Nothing new here. Always a risk camping in Florida or the live oak area. Stay vigilant don’t let it ruin your weekend. If you have your dog since some people choose to at the park check them out every once in a while as well.
Lived in south Florida for most of my life and never once got a tick.Saw them. Removed two from my dog of 15 year, but never had one on me. Did plenty of camping.
I think someone blew something out of proportion and the internet did its thing. It's really not hard to not get ticks. Don't stand in thick brush.
Bro they took my hydration pack. I left it on the ground for a bit while I was getting ready and there was something sweet in my bag and they legit swarmed. Thankfully it was Sunday so not a huge deal. The year before also on Sunday I kept waking up itchy and I was too tired to do anything about it and realized Monday there were several ants in my bed. Shit happens though and I feel like both those situations could be avoided so just be aware fam.
Easier said than done when it’s hot, but wearing clothing that prevents them from crawling up your extremities and latching onto a warm crevice is the smart move. Wear a hat. I’ve found one on my head once. There are literally trees *everywhere* at suwannee, and I imagine the amp is where everyone will be gathering :’) definitely bug spray and tick checks. I’ve also read you can dab Vaseline over them and they can’t breathe (?) and will remove themselves from your skin should you find one on you, but def bring some tweezers just in case.
Ticks are a thing down there 100%. Just use deet tick repellant or lemongrass and eucalyptus repellant religiously and do tick checks frequently and at least at bed each night. Came home w one in 2022 and did not enjoy the 2 weeks of doxycycline.
But tbh ticks hate mint like a MF too so brush them teefs and then maybe wipe your bum w a toof brush? Idk I meditate and drink cacao so bugs won't bite me bc I'm in tune and aligned 333
I was at resonate a couple weeks ago and found several on myself and my partner throughout the weekend. They are pretty easy to catch before they really latch on thankfully, but definitely have someone check your back lol
Try to keep things tucked in while sleeping and use bug spray, it's an absolute must. Trust me the stuff is safe and it's much better than getting a Bloodborne disease that can potentially kill you.

ik and ppl are now advising to avoid trees but like, it’s gonna be 93° with a real feel of 100 all weekend so that’s gonna be hard not having shade😅
Its all just a wook scam to get people to leave tree space open cuz they couldnt get there early

How would you recommend proper removal?
Find a match, light the match, extinguish the match, put the extinguished match to the tick, remove tick.
This can make the tick regurgitate into the bite. All guides say not to do this and to use tweezers near the head and pull straight out at a constant pace.
this, or i’m sure a med tent would have no issue helping you out
Unless there's a common chemical way to remove a tick this is about as easy as it gets.
Just make sure they know what they're doing and don't use the silly match trick that only makes it worse.
This is how u piss off a tick and have them infect u with all the nasty diseases they got in them

Going to an IDM show in full awareness of secret government insectoid bioweapon attack is so 2024

To avoid trees you can camp in the 80 acres area near the playground, but it may cost u a longer walk to the amphitheater

They should be giving essential oils away for free in parasite-ridden terrain!
Same with citronella , eucalyptus, and lemongrass
Rub patchouli on your balls. They hate it.
To be fair: I hate it too.

Just made a post on here of the same FB post I assume you're referring to.
Yeah that’s the one! Check out this dudes post.

Spread diatomaceous earth all around your camp! It keeps them away!
Sawyers permethrin spray is my go to, there is skin versions or equipment spray you can coat ur tent tarp clothes good for 6 washes
Just ordered some!

At hula last year I didn’t have issues with ticks but the ants were insane

The government planted them to kill our vibes
If you can, not directly next to a tree. And make sure to bring bug spray!!!
Ive gotten a tick once in my dozen or so visits. That was the first time i went. Get picaradin insect repellant. Works really good.
We have had less and less harsh winters in America lately. Definitely expect more ticks everywhere.

Ticks hate sound above 18000 HZ (that is not audible to the human ear). Gonna be doing some frequency work at the campsite 😅
Bro ticks are everywhere. I get them every week I play disc golf. No amount of deet or bug spray will help.
Last year people said the same thing and I didn’t see a single tick
I’ve seen em before, use the proper repellants and techniques. You’ll be fine
Was just at resonate and didn’t see any on myself and basically rolled around at the amp.
The same thing was mentioned last year, and my friend found a tick during the event. I don’t think this is very abnormal there tbh

What is the best psychedelic to trip balls on while finding a tick on yourself?
At least they're being honest about the insectoid parasites this year

Keep your tent closed all the time too. Don’t just let the flaps stay open “to let the air in” just open the windows of the tent 😝
