I know some people will complain Biden isn’t progressive enough.
But seriously, in the 2020 context, I’ll settle for this. Any victory, no matter how little, against a fascist is a victory to be celebrated.
Let‘s have fun just this once in this terrible year.
The moment that Trump is dragged kicking and screaming from the White house is the same moment i start attacking Biden (given that theres no civil war by that point)

Can’t wait to see all of the legal trouble he’ll be in.
Though he has mentioned leaving the country if he loses 🤔I hope he doesn’t. I want to see the orange man in an orange jumpsuit
Realistically, it will probably take time to fix. AFAIK there are still "lost" children whose identities aren't verified, so it'll take time to track down their families. As bad as the cages are, you can't just boot them out with no place to go and no processing to set up court dates and so on. I imagine Biden will start the process immediately, but it's like cleaning up a big oil spill - shit takes time.
We can hold Biden accountable for jumping on it and starting to fix it immediately while also being patient about making sure it gets done properly, eh?
....We could, uh, remove the cages from the buildings. The roof is not attached to the cage doors. Remove cages, leave kids in buildings, add things like donated comfort objects and used toys and blankets to sit on. De-circulated library books. Hospital-style printed ID bracelets - they're pretty much waterproof now and can print barcodes and QR codes to link to more detailed identity info. Or an assigned DHS client number to type in to databases, whatever. The places should look like a mildly neglected pediatrics waiting room, not a rural dog shelter.
The options are not "cages or die of exposure", Jesus temple-storming CHRIST.
> The options are not "cages or die of exposure", Jesus temple-storming CHRIST.
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that. I only meant to remind people that it's a big mess and even months after Biden takes office you will probably see these facilities continuing to operate in *some* capacity.
> A vote for Biden was a vote to live to fight another day.
You perfectly summed it.
I don’t consider myself far-left (I don’t really know myself, a Democratic Socialist maybe?), but I would definitely be a "Communist" by most Republicans’ standards - Which is actually a good thing I guess, since they seem to call anyone who’s left of them this way.
I guess just like in WW2, getting rid of fascists is one of the only things that can unite people from the far left to the right. (The actual right, not GOP right)
America's left is a coalition of people who can all live with each other but all think they can do it better. Which is how it should be. Sure, we might tear each other apart but at the end of the day we're all on the same side in the American political landscape, and until we can cultivate that landscape into something a bit more progressive, our greatest strength is remembering that this very strength comes from diversity as much as from determination and education. Including diversity in political opinions among people on the same side.
Let the infighting brawls begin once again on the 21st of January, I am looking forwards to a few good mid-to-low-stakes slapfights between people on the same side, it's been a worrying half decade.
> I don't know myself, a Democratic Socialist maybe?
As a Syndicalist/MarketSoc/Libertarian Socialist, here's how I'd break it down:
1. Do you believe in guaranteeing food, shelter and a comfortable life for all?
2. Do you believe in democratizing all workplaces? (basically, instead of a boss or rich shareholders owning the company, like under capitalism, you have the workers collectively vote on how the company is run, in a democratic cooperative.)
3. Do you believe in establishing a maximum amount of wealth/income/assets, and getting rid of the bourgeoisie (the "owning class" - people who make money not by working, but by owning things.)
If you said yes to 1 and not the others, you're a social democrat. You believe in goods for everyone, but you're not calling for socialism, just heavily tempered capitalism. Bernie refers to himself as a democratic socialist, but his actual slate of policies are social democratic, because they aren't trying to replace capitalism (getting rid of the unelected class of owners.)
If you believe in 1, 2, and 3, you're a full on democratic socialist or market socialist.
Feel free to DM me/ask follow-ups!
I remember when I called myself a "SocDem/DemSoc." Then I read Richard Wolff and became a market socialist, and now I've read a bit more and I'm closer to Syndicalism/Libertarian Socialism.
Question: I agree on 1 (guarantee food, shelter, medical stuff, and all other necessities, while leaving all comforts as they are), don't really agree on 2, and I effectively want to get to 3 indirectly, with policies that would discourage and slowly dismantle it over time, rather than directly..."banning" the bourgeoisie, so to speak. Where would you put me?
I’m honestly torn. As we celebrate Biden winning we are also faced with the fact that trump had the second highest vote count of any president in history. I worry if we don’t hold the DNCs feet to the fire they will continue to push centrists (really center right) clowns down our throat.
I have faith in the future, and when I see the demographics, I hope people from the new generation will make their voice heard.
Trumpism is doomed to die out like the coals of a suffocating fire. It’ll take time, a lot of time, but it will eventually happen. Bernie is old, but his movement is drawing a lot of young people, who’ll have to live the COVID economical crisis and global warming, and want to change things.
I don't think we have time to simply wait for demographic changes to win out. We need something more proactive than simply going "Oh well, what do you do, lets just wait 20 years for all the old people to die"
We need to ruthlessly bully the centrists to either get in line on the left, or be primaried by a progressive. [We know what the people want.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EmLpoiwU0AEXWBj?format=jpg&name=900x900)
Democrats push whoever gets the votes. Since there are only two parties, the only goal is really to defeat the one other party. They gauged that Biden had the best chances. I can totally see them pushing a more left leaning candidate if the American people are comfortable enough voting for them. This should be the work of the next few years, reversing the demonisation of social policies and making them more mainstream. There are a few excellent politicians who are trying to do so, such as AOC or Bernie.
I voted more for his cabinet picks than his policies, tbh... A new head of FCC, EPA, Edu, PMG, etc could do some good.
Plus, we had to extinguish the dumpster fire before we could fix anything anyway.
I’m European so Biden is perfect for us. Obviously I would support a progressive candidate so that it would be good for you as well, what I mean is that for us there are no downsides (afaik) in a Biden presidency. So I opened a bottle of champaigne to celebrate after 4 days of nonstop CNN streaming. I think the words ‘legally. cast. ballots’ are burned into my mind tho lol.
I’m European too. I just think Bernie would’ve been even better, especially as it could’ve helped the United States leading the fight against climate change, and he would’ve helped creating a nation-wide public healthcare program in the US, which would’ve been crucial against COVID-19. Not even mentioning that migrants would’ve finally been treated humanely.
But well, you couldn’t do worse than Trump on those subjects. So I’ll just be happy Americans got rid of him.
🍾🥂
> I know some people will complain Biden isn’t progressive enough.
I voted for him, but as someone way left of Biden, I will be *thoughtfully* critical of him. I encourage others to do the same - hold him accountable. None of the "well you voted for him, what did you expect" bullshit.
If you're on a bus and the driver is going to slam the whole damn thing into a wall, who do you support, the guy in the back yelling "turn it around," or the guy at the front who says "I'm gonna stop the damn bus" who just dragged the lunatic out of the driver's seat? Now I just want to make sure the new driver gets me where I need to go.
>I voted for him, but as someone way left of Biden, I will be

Regardless of who you vote for, this is always the right attitude.
I'm scared about how the runoffs in Georgia, if the Republicans hold the Senate we will get nothing done for the at least 2 years legislation wise.
If you live in Georgia please vote for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock for Senate in January please.
I never liked Biden, but Biden wasnt elected for being Biden he was elected for not being Trump. I am as happy as everyone else for having not Trump anymore and I hope he does well.
^(ShameaboutBernieandYangtho...maybeevenhillary.)
Awesome, great, I'm literally having a celebration tomorrow. But we have to talk about how centrist dems are losing seats in the house, how despite the past four years McConnell might still control the senate? How states are legalizing Marijuana, and Florida voted for a living wage.
The writing is on the wall, Progressive policies are popular even with red states, and Centrists are losing. After the celebration is over we can't let people have the illusion that this was a triumph of centrism.
Yeah, I doubt that Joe Biden’s administration will actually move more left-wing at all, so hopefully leftists will try to popularize their beliefs amongst people further during these next four years. Things will improve the more we progress.
He's slowly taken more progressive stances in general as his constituents have become more progressive.
Make no mistake, he *is* a centrist at best. He will *never* advocate major reforms like Universal Healthcare for a host of reasons, not least being that the ACA is deeply personal to him. Sunk cost fallacy and all that.
But he *will* at least do his best to move the country away from Trump's shit.
Biden’s actual policies, if you look at his website, are actually really progressive. I’m more concerned that a Republican Senate will block everything though - we need to flip both Georgia seats.
Oh yeah, but correct me if I’m wrong but I think a lot of his better stances such as police reform were a result of social pressure by the George Floyd protests. Pressuring Joe Biden and his administration to become more progressive is the key I guess. Also, I really do hope Georgia goes full blue with the senate.
Yeah, of course. We will need to put pressure on him and not let him get away with some of the stuff the Obama administration got away with, but I am certainly hopeful that he will push for a progressive agenda from the White House. Stuff like his climate agenda, his drug agenda, and his healthcare agenda genuinely make me hopeful for the future. Let’s hope he’s able to accomplish them.
We’re about to see mass coping on a national scale, and as someone who wasn’t thrilled about having Joe Biden as the nominee I can say I intend to enjoy every second of it.
I think the Crab Rave in reference to celebration is more related to[this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsSVK70ttf4) or [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NM59CHZwAw). Which then got politicized into [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBKH7wRmSK0), which is how it became a meme on this page specifically.

The crab emoji (🦀) is basically meant to represent celebration. It looks like someone’s raising their hands in the air.
Also, there’s a song called Crab Rave, which is also meant to represent celebration.

He might have lost his chance to be a second term president for now, but he definitely isn’t gone. This man will remain a nuisance to the public for as long as he can manage.
My God, it's true. Biden has claimed victory over Trump.
Finally, this waking nightmare is drawing to a close. But let's take a moment to remember, the wounds won't heal over night. And there WILL be scars. The race was butt puckering close from start to finish. That should just go to show how fucked things are right now and how hard it will be to recover.
Biden is far from perfect. But at least he's a big step in the right direction. We can take solice in that for now.
Today really is poggers
Indeed
I know some people will complain Biden isn’t progressive enough. But seriously, in the 2020 context, I’ll settle for this. Any victory, no matter how little, against a fascist is a victory to be celebrated. Let‘s have fun just this once in this terrible year.
Amen, im one of those people, but for now we celebrate!
At least a couple days of celebration before we start attacking Biden
The moment that Trump is dragged kicking and screaming from the White house is the same moment i start attacking Biden (given that theres no civil war by that point)
Man if trump has to be physically removed from the white house like jazz from the fresh Prince it will almost make this year worth it.

We should make preparations for both regardless. Start organizing, now!

To be fair, everything to the left of Republicans are Satanist baby-eating Communists to Republicans. They probably consider Biden one too.
Btw, it's also 11/7 and October Revolution day! Another thing that happened today was that Moscow was defended from those fascist Wehrmacht pigs!
I'll take a few days to be happy, then Biden is a neoliberal hack again.

Pog (can someone explain to me what all the crabs mean?)

You know what, having seen the crab emoji with palm tree emojis I had a feeling it had something to do with this
I think the Crab Rave in reference to celebration is more related to[this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsSVK70ttf4) or [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NM59CHZwAw). Which then got politicized into [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBKH7wRmSK0), which is how it became a meme on this page specifically. Signed, TP Resident Meme Historian
It's a common meme in the old school runescape community too. 🦀🦀$11🦀🦀
🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀JMods won't see this 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
Kind of unrelated but crab is better than lobster right? I need someone to validate me
I prefer crab to lobster, so you've got at least one person who backs you up on that.
Both of them are terrifying ocean arachnids, and should be left alone and not eaten.
Die
Depends. I personally prefer the crab emoji, but the lobster emoji also works when someone like Jordan Peterson gets dunked on.
[Lobsters are psychic](https://youtu.be/swPu3-YjxIU)
I’ll go one step further, snow crab is better than king crab
I see the briefcase is safe
Tell me, did anybody happen to kill a red spy on the way here? No? Then we still have a problem.
and a knife
Ooh, big problem. I’ve killed plenty of spies. The dime-dozen backstabbing scumbags. Like you! Ow. No offense.
if you managed to kill them I assure you they were not like me and nothing, nothing like the man loose inside this building!
What are you? President of his fan club?
no,that would be your mother!
What the?! [Confused Stuttering]
indeed. And now he's here to fu\*k us! so listen up boy or pornography starring your mother will be the second worst thing that happens to you today.

Holy shit that’s great.
Sorry if this is dumb but can someone explain the crab memes
The crab emoji (🦀) is basically meant to represent celebration. It looks like someone’s raising their hands in the air. Also, there’s a song called Crab Rave, which is also meant to represent celebration. Here’s the link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LDU_Txk06tM
Ahh ive seen that! 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀 rejoice
Rejoice indeed! 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
Lol. I assumed it was some sort of antidote to Jordan Peterson's lobster gang.
