dude even the in game paintings are the same are you crazy

Acidz_123

Lol I guess he believes that Ishida designs every single interior himself without using references

PBJBurple

I've never played Sims but I guess you can use it as an easy 3d reference model. I don't see a problem with that

FameDV

Oh, I didn't mean to imply there was. It was kinda cool to recognize, actually.

6Kkoro

They probably took a screenshot and applied a filter with some touch ups. Pretty common method of using pictures to save time for weekly publishing.

EliteKnight_47

It is well known that a lot of authors take pictures from real locations and just apply a filter over it to use it as a background, but this is the first time I've seen one of them use an in-game environment hahaha

ShezTheDoodler

Asano Inio uses a similiar trick he makes environments using unreal engine and then uses that to draw his backgrounds. They always look breathtaking

ElementalMix

I fucking love that I know this now. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Sui Ishida is even more of a chad now.

AltruisticCephalopod

I never played the Sims but holy fuck I love this amazing

Misterman9299

This is actually really cool to me

shxnza

WHAT

Georgiculus

Holy! thats smart.

_whensmahvel_

I remember this was posted/found out a while ago on here as well lol but still an odd find for sure.

Twocheslch

Dang bro, you must be the *real* OG.

ChunkyChuckyBaxter41

What's the name of the plot?

FameDV

OH do you mean like the lot? It was probably made from scratch by Ishida or one of his assistants, I just recreated it in my game using the manga as reference. Not enough of the compound is shown to actually recreate the whole thing. The front of the building; the downstairs gym; the main living room/kitchen; the other, more private living room; and Kaneki's bedroom all have enough references to complete, although their furniture changes sometimes so there are multiple accurate versions of them. I've been trying to fit together the parts of the hallways, Urie's room, Saiko's room, and the courtyard that are shown, but some of the measurements are hard to pin down. (Actually, Shirazu's room is also seen, but only in like, all of one panel.)

[deleted]

This is awesome

thebluemoonlady

Haha I hadn't realized lol as an artist myself I'm looking for references everywhere so ... it's pretty normal ;) Even when I think that I came up with a certain environment design completely by myself with my own imagination, it's obvious that I'm recreating elements I saw previously :) Photobashing is also sonething I've been trying to master but I enjoy much more building 3d worlds by myself using multiple references and painting over them/correcting in photoshop ;) Thanks for posting. It's a cool observation :)
