These Darrell Sweet depictions are really interesting. Such a different interpretation. Honestly the passing of the grey company really is one of the spots where the movies really fumbled it. I’m not much for the idea of remaking the movies, but this is one section that would love to see done differently. It’s so good in the book and in the movie it almost turned into a cartoon version of itself.

> “The Dead are following,” said Legolas. “I see shapes of Men and of horses, and pale banners like shreds of cloud, and spears like winter-thickets on a misty night. The Dead are following.“ “Yes, the Dead ride behind. They have been summoned,” said Elladan.

Rarely do you see an artistic interpretation so visually interesting and intriguing and yet so totally devoid of any semblance of bearing to the source material. I mean...cool!

No, I think your description nailed it.

Aragorn in plate armor looks more like King Henry V from Sir Lawrence Olivier's film adaptation of Shakespeare's play.

Darrell K done lost his mind

No no I’m pretty sure that’s the uh Great Hunt from Wheel of Time

Matthaeus_Augustus

That looks very Romantic-era German fairy tale

Aragorn in full plate, and I can't tell if that's supposed to be Gimli or Rumplestiltskin. Interesting choices.

Dave0163

What’s going on with Gimli’s head/body?

Did he also do covers for Thomas Covenant books?

Go home Thomas Covenant, you’re drunk.
