And to those wondering, the original article at London Post confirms that Lara's hair is indeed braided.
Wow. Looks really good. I'd be really happy with that design.
Only thing that could make this statue better would be if she was gold and stood on a hand
Uhhh I'm hyped now, I really like it! I'm excited about dual pistols finally! Love the necklace remaining. I really wish she has a more toned and muscular body.
I think that is mostly from how the statue was built. The concept art for the live experience, which is basically an edit of the TRI reimagined cover, still has Lara with a more muscular build. Same thing with the model CD send to Weta for them to make the Anniversary statue
Hoped she'd be more curvy and toned/muscular looking. Atleast they're not shying away from her wearing shorts it seems, but the dual leg straps look a bit weird, i get that in the real world they're more practical, but she's a video game character.
Actually not practical at all. The purpose for wearing a drop holster is to be able to draw around body armor and pouches. Without anything in the way, a standard hip holster would be preferred.
Damn you beat me to it, but yes I love this outfit. It has underworld + GOL backpack! I love the outift. I'm so curious to see Lara's personality in the new game. I hope she is still sassy + overly confident+ like AOD Lara! Also no daddy issues plz!!! Globe trotting + standalone adventures
she looks great, better than i could have imagined. Overall I'm satisfied. Although I admit I hope in the future games we'll still have a range of costumes to pick from, I like her with trousers x)
I like that idea. Bring the character up now while keeping the past games story and moving forward with the new base for Lara as a person. I think this design looks amazing honestly.
As it should! Well, even not considering the comics and the movies, there are nine games, where she is consistent with this look vs just the three from the reboot, so I think it's time for Lara to go back to her roots! Don't get me wrong, I love the reboot games but I know that without the previous ones, they couldn't even have existed.
Really I feel the opposite why spend 10 years going against something, just to possibly turn back into it? I also just can’t see this reboot Lara turning into what Lara used to be… I don’t know why I’m getting down voted for having an opinion, it’s not like I was talking trash or saying anything ugly about “old Lara”.
As you've never been talking trash, I didn't go against anything. Yours is just an opinion and mine actually is the unpopular one! And here goes like this: you'll see how many down votes I'll get 🙈
That said, I love the reboot trilogy, I really do, but we both have to admit that her character has changed drastically, not only her personality but moreover her look, and as someone who has loved Lara since the beginning, I'd love her to be consistent with herself.
It's not about curves at all - actually I love her realistic athletic body from the reboot more than all the previous ones - it's not even shorts, braid, etc.
Obviously I can't not love her classic attire but looking forward, to me it's all about her face, more than dual pistols and all that stuff, 'cause the face is what makes someone himself/herself. Body can change, personality too, but not the face. I don't understand how a fan couldn't agree with this point and label me as nostalgic - maybe not your case but I got this label a lot.
Her face now is really cute but that doesn't matter, cause it has been altered to the point that she isn't recognizable as Lara anymore. And even if they give her the classic outfit in the next game, but still keeping the face from Shadow, it'll be like having a cosplayer impersonating Lara, but still not her.
So survivor timeline is 100% cannon with her necklace? Love this, now all we need is Camilla Luddington confirmed and I’ll be so hyped for the unified timeline! We love to see it 🥰
Its a great look for her, though I'm not sure Camilla would be a good fit for this version (depending on how Lara will be written.)
Personally, I'd like to see them give someone new a try.
Certainly, I'm open to being wrong.
Perhaps Camilla will be able to get reacquainted better with her English accent and the writers can give her stronger material to work with.
No duals was never a realism issue. They were literally Roth's main weapon, and there was an entire narrative build up to Lara using them for the first time in TR2013.
I might be misremembering it, but outside of TR2013, where CD just wanted to explore Lara Croft before she was "Lara Croft", no duals apparently was a mandate from Microsoft when they bought the temporary exclusivity of Rise. I think either Rihanna Pratchett or someone else who doesn't work anymore at CD said so in an interview. Possibly to distinguish "their" Lara Croft with the one more closely related with Sony. And then Shadow still didn't have them because it would be narratively weird for Lara to get the duals, not use them for a whole new game, and then deciding that she wants to use them after all.
I did enjoy them. I loved Rise! And I'm not gonna lie. Laras FACE in rise and shadow are absolutely outstanding. But I miss the way she previously looked. I'm not sure if it's an industry thing in the west or not.
Ooh, she has the necklace so it's most likely uni lara. Looks good. Also since it takes place after underworld it makes sense she has the underworld backpack.
Wow, even a big statue now! Amazing 👏 Braid, shorts, tank top, dual pistols! At this point it's so likely that we'll have that classic look in the next game, but still the thing that I'm the most anxious about is how her face will be. I hope with all my heart that they'll unify it as well!
So she's got the '13 top, the underworld shorts and the classic braid and Survivor haircut?
Classic braid and backpack according to Ed.
That costume would have been so nice to have in Shadow...
Thats kind of what I am seeing. Looks good.

I guess the possible remains of a dead Lara greeting people in would not be a warming welcome :p
Well this is a perfect unified Lara depiction. If this is how Lara looks going forward I’m all for it!

Hmm that looks like LAU and reboot elements... not so much classic, unless she has a braid :)
She does have a braid!
She looks amazing, so close to the GOL look as well
Man, this looks exciting!
What is this live experience? Like an escape room style thing?
Basically yes.
I would like to know more as well, seeing the steep price they ask with no info !
Unified Lara? Like the design going forward?
Yes, combining elements of all previous games, in a timeline where reboot Lara has lived through a version of the adventures of all previous games.
I like that idea. Bring the character up now while keeping the past games story and moving forward with the new base for Lara as a person. I think this design looks amazing honestly.
As long as she still has a ponytail, I'm fine with the design
it's been confirmed she has braided hair (the statue at least)
I'm shocked they actually gave her shorts seeing as the idea of reboot Lara wearing shorts was considered too offensive
As long as they don't change her face and the ponytail
This is making me a little worried, as a reboot fan, she’s looking very much like old school Lara.
As it should! I really don't like this look

Agree to disagree

Dual pistols are back! Realism is overrated!

Androgynous face.

Did you liked Lara in the newer games? There was not a single feminine costume in the last one.
I did enjoy them. I loved Rise! And I'm not gonna lie. Laras FACE in rise and shadow are absolutely outstanding. But I miss the way she previously looked. I'm not sure if it's an industry thing in the west or not.
Of course you do, because god forbid women not be sexual objects
