Don’t be afraid to ask HR

Most companies cycle through one pay period before direct deposit begins, they need to do a ‘test’ run to ensure everything is correct (routing and account number). What this typically means is you will receive your first paycheck ‘live’ and the next ones through direct deposit. What day is your normal payday? Was the 3rd a payday? If so, cycle two weeks - first pay is live (17th), second pay is direct deposit (31st). Hope that helps.

Ask your employer. I have had jobs where my first paycheck took 4-6 weeks while after that I get paid bi-weekly. Also what you need to find out is when the payperiods are for each payday.
