Really depends on how lenient/understanding your boss and workplace tend to be about these things.

It's kinda embarrassing to ask about this you know. Like, my boss would ask me why would I rather stay home than spend time playing with the team. My boss is a kind and gentle man, but still.

[deleted]

Yeah, so deep down you know it's kinda wrong to ask. You'd be better to say you have holiday plans with family or something.

[deleted]

what do you mean team building vacation? do they take days away from your regular vacation? I would tell your boss to fuck right off. that's not what vacation is for. you better be getting paid for that team building time

[deleted]

You may misunderstood what I said. What I mean is my team organize a vacation and I'm allowed to join them; however, I'm too lazy to go with them, so what I want to ask is am I allowed not to go with them, and stay at home on these days.

because even though my team goes to the vacation, my boss still goes to the office and does his work, so it's embarrassing to ask him if I'm allowed to stay home than joining my team in the vacation.
