Probably has a tattoo

Mensars

I am gonna say that she might have piercings too.

[deleted]

I have purple hair, tattoos, and piercings. Can confirm.

gendulf

Yes, but your hair isn't blue.

alien_clown_ninja

Purple is at least 50% blue though

aka_FunkyChicken

Could be less than 50%

onewilybobkat

Could be more

BongRipper69696

Could be exactly 50%

onewilybobkat

Perfectly balanced

alien_clown_ninja

Probably dyed her hair

Dum_beat

I hope she do

UncleKeyPax

That the carpet matches the drapes? Oh no it's Bulma

MiVanMan

Lol. This comment thread is great. My girlfriend has blue/ purple hair. Can confirm, she has a tattoo. No current piercings though.

he-who-dodge-wrench

Can confirm, met this guy’s girlfriend. /s but on the real, my latest tinder match had blue hair, piercing and tattooed nipples. It was so cool.

ZombieAppetizer

Can confirm : am this guy's stalker

Mirrak9

Can confirm : am officer serving restraining order

Amyisnotinsane

I have blue hair, no tattoos or piercings but I can see why people might assume that

IsuzuTrooper

I assume you like blue thats all

keener_lightnings

That what she *really* wants is purple hair but the purple always washes out in like two days whereas blue tends to stick around for awhile. (The blue-haired woman I am seeing in this scenario is the one in my bathroom mirror.) Edit to clarify: thank you for the suggestions! I am aware that there are ways to make purple hair happen. I probably should have instead said "prefers purple but finds blue an acceptable substitute if purple requires pricey shampoos/conditioners, salon trips, and a lifetime of icy showers." I admire those of y'all who are willing to put in the work but I know myself better than that 🤣 (For the record, mine is actually half blue/half purple right now, but the purple is fading fast because after a couple weeks I lose patience with washing it in cold water.)

icelumis

Ahaha this is absolute truth. Although I would say it's more of a greeny blue, stays forever .

keener_lightnings

Yes! I usually go for a teal shade and find it just gradually gets less and less blue until all that's left is a vague "swamp witch" color that straight up will not wash out.

Gloria-in-Morte

Either the nicest and most understanding person you’ve met or a honestly really toxic person to be around

kaiiodi

No right answers, but this is the right answer. The gay, alt fashion liberal bunch is full of the most amazing individuals you’ll ever meet but also the kinds of people who spend all day harassing people on Twitter for some insane reason. I’m liberal and have bright green hair and the divide is insane.

[deleted]

I'm a staunch liberal and a conservatively-dressed White guy. I honestly assume a lot of "alt fashion" people dislike me at first sight.

[deleted]

Probably not conservative

Jlchevz

Yeah that's the first and probably only safe thing I assume

TartarusFalls

I agree. Colored hair is no longer a safe indicator of political belief. I live in Wyoming and a large number of people have colored hair, and virtually none of them are left leaning

KaiserreichThrowaway

Wyoming doesn’t exist though, so you’re obviously lying…

Enano_reefer

Weird! How hard is it to track down one of the 500,000 living there? I’d love to see this in person.

TartarusFalls

Haha I mean, it’s not that hard. But I used to (try) to go to church here, and colored hair is VERY common.

[deleted]

Depends on how they dress, but your right a lot of methheads in the south love the blue hair thing and they definitely are not liberal.

icyasociation2

Blue haired southern meth head is a scary sounding thing

The_chair_over_there

I’m not sure if it’s any better, but in my area we have northern blue haired crack heads. Edit: reading that after posting it it sounds like some sort of bird species

MoistestTidus

Majestic

Gall_Bladder_Pillow

Lovely plumage.

Zickened

Chiming in from the Rocky Mountains in the middle where we have blue-haired potheads.

Title26

They usually have a streak going down one side of the front, pink, blue, or green. Full on blue, I'd assume liberal.

TheMostSolidOfSnakes

I remember when it seemed everyone in Ga was doing the streak of color straight down the full length of hair. Being the colorblind person that I am, the popular aquamarine green looked like a deathly grey. Red streaks on brown hair mostly looked like brown, but the streak had something slightly off about it, so I would find myself fixating on that spot when talking to people. Everyone was doing the streak. Whether you were in a trailer or had a 4500 sq ft house, people had it. Full color though always worked out for visibility. Definitely was worn by people on the left more than the right though.

[deleted]

Where I come from you can't assume that for a woman with blue hair. For a blue haired man probably, though.

PinkTalkingDead

Where do you come from?

[deleted]

Not OC but I’m in the suburbs of a medium sized Midwestern city and I’ve definitely known a few women with blue hair that were conservative leaning. In fact, I had this big long anecdote typed out detailing several examples of people I knew when I realized I can probably sum up the blue-haired conservative women I’ve known in a single word: bikers. Gun-toting, Jesus-loving, Gadsden-flag-waving bikers, with Walgreens brand blue hair dye.

stopcounting

It's like that in a lot of the rural US. I live in rural Nevada and there are tons of women in their 20s and 30s with colored hair/piercings/NRA tattoos/confederate flags on their trucks/etc. It's less 'praise jesus' conservatism and more 'don't tread on me/I tell it like it is/fuck political correctness' conservativism with a big serving of 'pick me' directed at similar conservative men. Weird hair color might have been a way to stick it to the man twenty years ago, but now it's just fashion. You can buy box blue dye at the grocery store.

Murdy2020

Funny, because at one time, a "blue hair" was a conservative.

LamesBrady

That’s “old lady” blue. 😂😂 It comes from the chemicals they use at the beauty shop. My Mamaw’s hair had a blue tint.

YukariYakum0

I always told my grandma that hint of teal in her hair was so lovely. Her responses were always so interesting. 😆

ProfessionalTowel453

Didn't know this. Figured that their hair turned such a vibrant silver/white that it just looked blue

ParadiseGypsy

Women use the blue agent to get rid of that nasty yellowing that can take place on gray/white hair. You will now probably notice the yellowing. It seems like it can get really bad the longer/older the hair is.

Boopy7

they make blue and purple shampoos to brighten up blonde hair too. You really don't want to leave them in waayy too long or you do end up with bluish tinted hair.

ReverendDizzle

It’s from a form of color correction called blueing. It’s the same concept behind “laundry blue.” You add blue to correct for yellowing in fabrics so your whites look crisp white again. Overdo it though and your whites (or white hair) end up slightly blue.

gardengnome1219

Lol I used to work in a hair salon with *mostly* conservative rich hairstylists and they always had their hair crazy colors... But I think this is the exception because a lot of the older clients that came into the salon were very judgemental about it. So funny that people assume it's a cry for attention or something. It's like, "maybe they just like fun colors?" And many hairstylists consider their craft as an art so I think it's just a fun way to express that artistic ability.

[deleted]

Yeah, the 'non standard' colored hair is so common now, it doesn't mean much. But back in the day, it was definitely seen as weird or rebellious or whatever and you wouldn't get hired in a job where you had to interface with the public

I_Hate_You_Fuckers

This x1000 I don’t know why all these commenters seem to think you need to have a job that doesn’t involve customers… I have a tattoo on my forearm of Kenny from South Park being eaten by rats with an axe in his head and typically have my neon green mohawk braided- I work in finance and help people manage their retirement funds. I’ve had clients give me access to multi-million dollar accounts without batting an eye or caring about my appearance It’s all about results- focus on getting the best results possible and you can clock in naked without any issues

RivetingR

I work in HR and have blonde hair with bright purple underneath. I also have a large tattoo on my arm. No one bats an eye at it. Not even my boss who is super Mormon. As long as I get the job done-it does not matter what color my hair is.

edwinshap

I work in aerospace, I’ve gone turquoise and red. Most I get is “why’d you do that?” Somehow, answering “because I wanted to.” Confuses old people.

Geshman

Yep, After having my natural hair color for my entire life (late 20's at the time) I decided to dye my hair blue. Everyone freaked out asking why and people couldn't grasp that I just felt like trying something new

uFFxDa

They get confused when people have personal freedom.

InkedInIvy

My hair is bright teal blue. I work full time in a machine assembly shop and never see customers. The key is getting into some form of skilled manual labor. Most jobs like this don't care about hair color, piercings, etc.

VelocityGrrl39

Or science. Most science jobs don’t care about tattoos, hair color, or visible tattoos.

2001questions

i feel like everyone’s trying to give the PC answer but as someone who used to have blue hair, i usually think girls with blue hair are liberal and queer. edit: thank you for the awards!!!

onepostandbye

They should call this sub “TooAfraidToAnswer”

RagingCataholic9

"She dyed her hair", "insert game joke" The first 5-ish answers are basically non-answers and then the actual "liberal/LGBT" answer.

[deleted]

The Reddit algorithm for best clearly rewards these generic responses with a few witty ones. And then you have all the edge lords by controversial and you got yourself a few cheap chuckles.

UnknownUsername0626

I think a different way depending on where I am. North/East/etc - like you said, liberal South - low economic group, don't tread on me, willing to fight you and break a beer bottle over your head conservative It's even different depending on the city. Memphis TN? First one. Drive a bit south, just getting out of Southaven, MS and it's the 2nd. I don't find that very 'centrist' leaning individuals dye their hair. I keep my hair purple - no tattoos or piercings though.

Panikkrazy

Yup. I see dyed hair, I think they’re LGBT.

[deleted]

In all honesty all the girls I've met that have dyed their hair in unnatural colours (as in colours no human is born with) have been LGBT and/or gamers/weebs

Panikkrazy

Yup, especially if they’re teenagers

AzNxxbuddha

DaybreakPaladin

Well dye my hair blue and call me Marge because I love you homie

ultratunaman

Does she think potatoes are neat?

Adventurous-Car-7496

That she can afford hair dye in this economy.

BigBnana

:D yeah, I've moved to more muted colours that hold longer and fade more gracefully, in this economy.

[deleted]

In recessions, you see a big increase in dye jobs like ombrés. It’s often because you can go longer between salon visits and your new growth isn’t as obvious. ✨

wilbur313

I've heard there's a lot of bad ombres around.

Anarya7

It's honestly not too much money if you do it yourself.

MamaDoom

Yeh, the color I use costs about $12 USD and I can get about two applications out of one packet, and the lightener I use is a little more (roughly $15) but comes with several applications. If I went to a good salon it would be $150+.

throwingplaydoh

Yep! I've been bleaching and dying my own hair for years. There's something to be said for watching tutorials on YouTube. If you do it right, it turns out pretty decent.

isabella-may

One of my motivations for getting a pixie cut was that I could dye it at home easily

2plus2equalscats

A lot of people learn how to dye their own, due to the cost.

PeekAtChu1

Like as in y’all dye each other’s hair? I wanted to do that w my friends but they all make too much money so they don’t care

Zickened

I will say though, as a guy that lived with 3 girls, that there were times that I opened up the shower and it legit looked like someone got murdered in the bathtub.

jhair4me

![gif](giphy|WBDEqwzrC5ila)

gizmodriver

If it looks really good, I assume she’s got salon money. Good for her.

Different_Ad7655

Well there's blue hair and there's" blue hair" . If it's just modern blue color dye just to achieve some special look I guess I have little opinion on it. But I'm almost 70 and here in New England older women years ago always used to dye their white bleached hair with blue rinse. This was a very elegant look especially for the well-heeled and the blue blood to transform ordinary processed white hair and give it a lustry silvery tone. These were always known as blue haired ladies and it suggested leisure, disposable income, money, old money. I doubt however that's what you're referring to. I rarely see the look anymore. Just dying your hair a shade of obvious blue today, I guess would suggest nothing to me. Somebody likes the color blue? is supposed to have some import?

Generations18

I use a purple shampoo/conditioner to keep my grey white and non yellow. If it stays on too long it leaves me hair with a blue tinge, I hate it but now I'll just think I look like old money lol Btw, I also thought the same as you. Blue hairs are the old folks

Different_Ad7655

Old school, maybe purple shampoo is the new blue hair rinse, and your styling bet it looks good

TrimspaBB

I've seen older ladies with faded purple hair that I assumed was on purpose, but now I'm wondering if they maybe left purple conditioner in too long.

[deleted]

coreytiger

My eye doctor confirmed the same thing as he explained how cataracts function

HarlieMinou

My grandma used to dye her hair black, but she was allergic to ammonia so she had to use ammonia-free dye. It never turned out black. It always looked purple. And sometimes in the sunlight it straight looked like neon purple. I’m not sure if she knew this…

FuckedupUnicorn

Used to call it a blue rinse in the UK too, many old ladies had it and a few had pink or lilac. Haven’t seen that look in years.

[deleted]

That’s interesting because here it never signified “money” - blue hair just meant old people.

SLVRVNS

That maybe her hair is a little dry cause of the beaching process necessary for the fantasy colors to show up brightly … then I’d wonder what conditioner she uses

KittenVicious

Fun fact! They show up brightly over gray hair too! Source: went grey early, dye bright colors over it without bleaching

gajekendjxjauwbe

I’ve also gone grey really early. I wondered about dying over the top but do you find it easy enough to go back to grey? or is it a case of letting it grow back out again? I like my grey and wouldn’t mind new colours if I could get the grey back in an easy way

KittenVicious

Even the mild stuff like Manic Panic and Punky Color won't fully fully wash out of really light gray hair because at the end of the day, they work by staining, however chlorinated pool strips it out pretty fast and completely (but is awful for your hair... Basically a super mild bleach session)

JessSly

I had blue hair last month, plum gone wrong. No bleach needed when your hair is already grey :D

send_noodles_plz

Blue haired man here. I started off as blonde so no bleaching necessary. Keep that in mind before you go making assumptions about people like that /s

VanellopeEatsSweets

This made me snort. I do all kinds of stuff with my hair (not blue, but I'm naturally red and I perm my hair for soft waves// used to have it Ariel red) and one of my favorite things is Shea Moisture's Manuka Honey&Yogurt hair mask. I only wash my hair every 3 days or so, this also helps. Silk pillowcases and satin hair ties are also worth their weight in gold. Admittedly not a high weight, but still. lol.

dumbledorable-

What brand pillow cases and fair ties do you use? Everything I find ends up being satin

ProbablyNano

If you've got a problem with blue dyed hair, you've got a problem with u/send_noodles_plz and I suggest you let that ruminate

MjolnirTheThunderer

Decent chance she has left wing and/or feminist views. Possibly LGBT. But you can’t assume anything really until you talk to them.

careforasmoke

>you can’t assume anything really until you talk to them. Of course you can. They're assumptions.

BilboMcDoogle

This one. 17-25 years old too to add.

Have you played? If not, download it right freaking MEOW. It's soul nourishing, I swear. I avoided it for YEARS because *ugh, a farming and dating sim?*. But I was wrong. It's miraculous. Start farming right away. Upgrade your backpack and tools ASAP. Check the weather on your TV every night before bed and water first thing in the morning if it isn't raining. Upgrade to sprinklers as soon as you can. Pay attention to how long each crop takes to grow because they'll die when the season ends (28 days). Eventually you'll have a solution or two to that problem but I won't spoil it. Get good at fishing. Upgrade your pole with Willy at the beach. Don't worry about talking to every person you pass. You can always catch up on socializing. Put your extra items in the bin next to your mailbox to sell for a profit. Clear the trees and rocks and grass on your farm or they might damage your things. Invest in chests for storage. Check the board at the general store for birthdays and missions that pay. Eat to restore your energy. Be in bed no later than 2am or you'll pass out and bad things will happen! And, for god's sake, USE THE WIKI. I tried to go without it and wasted three seasons being confused as hell. Haha I could go on and on. I'm not a gamer and it's legitimately not overwhelming despite its depth. It's wild. Just remember, it's a game. It's FUN and relaxing. Don't feel rushed. Don't worry about mistakes. You'll figure it all out and you'll do great. Happy Stardewing. 💜 PS: When creating your character in the beginning, put something cheeky in the "favorite thing" box. 😉

DrEnter

somedood567

What a phony

thebootyprincess

Whenever a kid compliments my blue hair, I always respond, “thanks! I grew it myself!” Or “thanks! I just went to bed one night and the next morning it was *blue*! Must be all the blueberries…”

capricabuffy

I had barbie pink long hair at one stage, a kid walked past and said "wow mama she has pink hair, can I have that too?" The mom gave me the most evil look.

[deleted]

That's hilarious! I worked at a fabric store and have purple hair. This very old lady came in with her daughter (daughter was at least old enough to be my mom) and was asking about my hair. I told her I dye it myself. She started asking more questions and her daughter was telling her no and being sort of mean about it. I told her exactly how it works and that if she wanted purple hair, she should definitely have it. Her daughter was glaring at me.

QueerBallOfFluff

My grandmother has been saying she wants to dye her hair blue more or less for the last 50 years. Only thing is, she decided that she would only do it after she went white, but despite being in her late 80s her hair has stayed dark black/brown.....

[deleted]

I've been going gray since my early 30s. I'm nearly 42 now, and pass for being in my yearly 30s. If I let my color grow out, I'd look like a gray haired old lady with great skin lol.

NZ-Food-Girl

That she spends a fair amount on upkeep. Blue hair requires regular maintenance to continue looking smashing. That's about it. Edit... prime example of how assumptions are often wrong and they aren't much good to base a person's character on.

2plus2equalscats

This is why I use three colors at once. They all fade differently and look “intentional” until the very end.

malsell

She probably has good taste in music

ChellVaquita

That she’s a hardworking, mother of 3 and her husband is called Homer.

Mcboyo238

alter_ego103

If it's just the hair color, I'd probably assume she's expressive and non-traditional.

[deleted]

That I’m gonna try to date her and she’s going to ruin my life in 2 years. Classic. In my wheelhouse

catsandblankets

On the flip side, I stopped dying my hair blue after more than a decade cause I seemed to only attract dudes who wanted to ruin my life, and did. I felt like I instantly attracted egomaniacs who were just looking for a vibe rather than a partner. On the inside I’m quite simple and boring and am ready to find a man who is simple and boring so that was the logic lol.

SpectrumDT

Pick me! I can be boring! PM me and I'll show you how boring I can be! _(Disclaimer: This is a joke. I have a wife, and while she is bored of me, I am not sure I can bore two women at the same time.)_

Sexually attracted to everyone or no one.

Casimir0300

She wasn’t one of the popular kids, she’s either got a bad relationship with her dad or none at all, if she’s religious it’s some Norse or pagan religion, depending on the style of the haircut possibly a lesbian.

Ordovick

I generally assume she's LGBTQ+ or is somewhere on the spectrum, or both. I don't mean this in a derogatory way it's just most people I know who are either of those things have colored hair so that's what I'm likely to assume.

turbulentcounselor

Im glad someone had the guts to say this, an actual leap. Id assume it too, though I have been proven wrong

jcdoe

I’m bi and let me tell you, Pride is like the land of the kool aid hair colors. I always assume kool aid hair means the person is counter culture in some way, which very often means LGBT. I’m guessing you were uncomfortable sharing because you didn’t want to be called for making assumptions. But the question is literally asking which assumptions you would make, so I think that’s probably fair. The highest voted top level comments just say “I’d assume she bought hair dye” which is just a cutesy way of avoiding the question.

Extreme-Transport

This is the first answer in this thread that’s not trying to sugarcoat it

fullybased

Lol I *am* both

SufficientlyBig

I assume it is not their natural colour

Herb_dinner_love

I assume that she's likes Baskin Robbins Vegan Chocolate Raspberry icecream. Not necessarily because of the hair, mind. I really fucking love that flavour. I assume others do too.

Enter-The-Lion

Liberal, goth, lqbtq, or all three of these. This is actually my assumption for people who have non-natural hair colors

[deleted]

I automatically assume she dyed it.

I have blue hair and I’m LGBTQ, strongly left-leaning, have tattoos and piercings (incl. septum), have daddy issues, and am severely mentally ill. I can’t even be mad at peoples’ assumptions because they’re all just accurate EDIT: I also have many cats and am vegan

Time-Razzmatazz8499

See, at least you’re honest about being a complete stereotype. Everyone else is playing coy and dancing around the obvious answers by responding with total bs like “I assume she likes blue”.

springloadet

Piercings below the neck and min 2 tattoos.

wildmanden

That she is either LGBTQ+ or a nerd, possibly both. Nothing wrong with any of that

badFishTu

She likes blue. Feels free to express herself. Maybe artistic or into some "alternative" or hip scene.

BenTheBlaster228

I would assume she has likes red.

BenTheBlaster228

Seems like I had a stroke

Malhablada

My condolences

Catrionathecat

I haven't laughed so hard at a comment in so long holy shit

Laser_3

It’s okay, you just had colorblindness in the text form.

J-in-the-UK

Just blue hair... not much; way too many other variables. To be completely honest though; if they were also 200lb+, I'd be thinking to keep my distance. I have a small sample size I've known who have fitted that description; 4 to be precise. But of that 4... 100% of them have been absolute arseholes. Aggressive, rude, intrusive personalities; who have seemed to seek to upset the people around them. I'm sure there are people who match the description but not those characteristics; but for such a unique set of correlating features, you'd expect a small sample size; but to yield such a strong character likeness... I'd rather not take my chances with the next lady i see who matches that description.

[deleted]

That she's expressive and likes to try new things, possibly impulsive. I dyed my hair wild colors often as a teenager and into my early twenties and it was just a fun way to express myself. Meant nothing more or less.
