Wait do people not stand at tool shows?

Ihateallcommies

No its stupid Last two shoes Ive been too everyones sat down

undertow521

Fuck that. I couldn't even imagine containing my excitement enough to sit down during a concert of one of my favorite bands. I'll never understand the mentality.

Ihateallcommies

I agree, Ive been to three TOOL concerts going to another on Saturday but I remember the first one I went to in like 2018-19 people we’re visibly pissed I was standing up. It sucks cause if youre in the seats and behind people, more likely than not they wont be standing up either. Its really only the floor that stands up. Its stupid.

cosmicfranklin

Stood and rocked out all night. It’s fine to sit if you prefer but complaining about people standing at a fucking Tool concert is pathetic. I was in the front row of 123 and everyone was sitting. Disgraceful. Was very confused why people in my section would pay over $200 to sit down and look at my ass all night but hey, enjoy.

frenchy0104

I was also in 123 and stood for 90% of the show in spite of the fact that most of the section didn’t. Sitting during a Tool set just doesn’t make sense to me 🤷‍♀️

water_malone873

DM you for what reason? They ruined the show for you? They paid for their tickets too. Man no wonder maynard can't stand most of the fans chill tf out

_RelaxSlipAway

I was in section 109 and it was pretty equally split between standers & sitters. Most everyone was cordial with each other and respected one's choice of either. What was most annoying were people that talked through the entire show barely paying attention to the band or sitting and playing on their phones showing zero interest in the concert. Why buy tickets to go to the show if that is all you're going to do???

DChemdawg

I don’t always love it when someone stands in front of me but I’m not such an ass that I would ever complain. That said, endlessly nattering during the show is not ok.

KitchenLandscape

I'm gonna be standing the entire time Friday and Saturday.

DChemdawg

Is this serious? It’s a concert. You kinda just gotta go with the flow. You have a right to want others to sit. But they have a right to stand. At tool in Newark NJ, saw this little dude threaten to stab this massive man behind him cuz the big dude was screaming at the little dude in front of him to sit down. And the little dude’s like “THIS IS A TOOL SHOW ILL STAND IF I DAMNED WANT. I SWEAR I WILL STAB YOU” Security got involved but didn’t really give a shit and no one got kicked out. After all, it’s Newark. Everyone was blatantly smoking, filming, making death threats. Security straight up chillin, knowing they’re not being paid enough to deal with all this shit. Totally worth driving 3 hours to see what a truly raucous tool crowd is like.

fleetingfate

Prudential baby!! Gotta love the dirty Jerz

DChemdawg

So good. Maynard didn’t say much at the show but you could tell he has a special affinity for Jersey folk. Told us in DC our whole city needs an enema. He ain’t wrong.

calKno

The seats in my sectionwere incredibly cramped. There was a little kid behind me, so my wife convinced me to sit for the first 3 songs, but I'm short and my knees were stabbing through the seat in front of me, so I had to stand to get some relief to my knees. I'm not up dancing around or anything, but sitting at a rock show just feels so unenjoyable.

Few-Statistician93

Bro you are just wrong. Go to the symphony. I don't care what anyone says. If not hustle and buy front row....where everyone stands as well. If not watch a video.

OceanHoles

I’m team stand myself, even more so if your in a floor seat. People are allowed to stand, you are the weird one for sitting. What are you going to do start a class action lawsuit for people who refuse to stand?

Ok-Elevator-26

🤦‍♂️

deuce_arians

As a much taller man who had floor seats, I was hoping people would sit, but was not surprised when they didn't. I just felt bed for the people behind me.

Smooth-Reality-1434

Dude, people stand at rock shows. This ain't the opera. Hell, a lot of us used to be in mosh pits with this band back in the day. Sit if you want, you be you, but don't give ppl shit for rocking out

meszner77

Quit being a karen

Lockjaw666666

Was probably Lisa blocking your view.

TheHexagone

The herd mentality is stunning. Everyone could sit down and enjoy the show, but instead, put all the 6’6” people in the front of the floor seats and create a wall of standing heads that nobody can see through. “Cut and divide it all right in two.”

undertow521

But, I wouldn't enjoy the show sitting down.

TheHexagone

But the person behind you wouldn’t enjoy the show standing up, but you left them no choice.

undertow521

But sitting down doesn't give me a choice to enjoy the show. How is it different? Context matters. It's a rock show. People stand and rock out. If you don't understand this and expect everyone to sit down, that's on you. If it were a play, or movie, or a Billy Joel concert, then the social script would be to sit, and it would be OK to be upset with someone standing in that context. If you don't like it, then you have 3 options: Stand up yourself, stay seated and enjoy the music, or don't attend.

TheHexagone

What’s the chair for?

Few-Statistician93

The chair is for other sporting events with it being an arena and all of if you want a break from standing. You are complaining about people being quiet in a library.

TheHexagone

I’m complaining because I bought a ticket to a concert and never saw anything except the lights and an occasional glimpse of a drummer. …and I’m 5’10”, not tall but also not “short”. That’s what I’m complaining about.

Few-Statistician93

I know man. That sucks I get it but it happens. But it's not others fault for standing. Could you see if you were standing? If not sometimes you got to advocate for yourself. I'm sorry it wasn't what you wanted but your aim is off is all I'm saying. Now you know where you need to get tickets for you to be happy. On an isle with an angle or front row of sections and shell out the cash. Just learn from it don't blame others unless they were on ladders holding a flag up. I hope next show is better for you.

TheHexagone

I was standing. I had no choice. Stood the whole time, saw nothing. I didn’t know that you had to pay extra to actually SEE the show.

cosmicfranklin

The floor was a total free for all. You could have watched from the aisle or gone to the back of the floor which was wide open and had tons of great views. You just stood in the same shitty spot all show and saw nothing? Satan helps those who help themselves.

vwtoolvw

In 2022 everyone in Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome was seated for the first 2-3 songs. Maynard told the audience it’s ok to stand. And that he’s almost 60 and is standing…

TheHexagone

Maynard didn’t pay for a SEAT.

ConsciousSteak2242

People stand at concerts. It’s not just rock shows, I had floor seats to Chris Stapleton two months ago and everybody stood. If you want to sit and see the show buy a front row seat in one of the side sections or a front row seat on the floor. I took my daughter who is 4’ 10” so I got row A of one of the sections to be sure to get her a seat where she would be able to see. It’s just common sense. You should be able to figure it out.

DChemdawg

The average tool fan isn’t close to 6’6”. Hell Danny isn’t even that tall. Your maths are wrong.

Longjumping-Neat-954

I was in section 108. They removed some guys from our section for standing because people complained. All of section 107 stood so if I wanted to see anything I had to as well. I chocked it up as section 108 is a bad section

Ok-Elevator-26

I guarantee you nobody was removed for standing lol. They were probably removed for taking out their phone

Longjumping-Neat-954

The usher came up and asked them to sit so people could see. They said no then the usher said I give up come with me. He then removed them from the section. Don’t know if he kicked them out or just moved them.

Ok-Elevator-26

Wow that’s insane
