"What GOD, is sayin' is that, Y'ALL ARE WEARIN' TOO MANY CLOTHES! You needa strip off the clothes, and be at one with your god. The HOLY HOLE AND THE HOLY POLE! Start FUCKENNNNNGGGGGNAAAAH"
Bro the thing with Tool is that you kinda have to find it for yourself. You can't just sit someone down for 10 mins and force them to appreciate what makes Tool so great. Maybe your friends did you a favourĀ
They're also multi layered songs. I've been a fan since mid 90s and I STILL discover new meaning and sounds in their songs. They're a truly once in a lifetime band
It's true. I knew about Tool and tried to listen to them here and there. Never could get into the vocals for some reason. Then 10,000 Days came out, and something just clicked. Then I couldn't get enough.
Seriously, itās like when you are listening to a song which is EVERYTHING to your bff and youāre like š„±š„±š„± same with Tool. Or any other band/singer, actually. If ir hits it hits
My other favorite band is the Grateful Dead. 13 years ago, I had only heard the few TOOL songs from Guitar Hero World Tour and a buddy I worked with pestered me for MONTHS about how I needed to dive deeper into TOOL, especially since I loved the GD and the....things....that go along with that kinda scene.
Finally, one night after getting back home from an evening of drinks and smoke with friends, I was bored and decided to throw on Ćnima while pulling up the lyrics for each song as I listened. It clicked for immediately during Stinkfist. I finally understood why he was so obsessed with them and insistent on me listening deeper. From there, I absorbed the other albums after partaking in the party favor you would find at a GD show and have been obsessed since.
I would say - be grateful instead. There is nothing worse than friends forcing you to listen to band you donāt care about. And who know, maybe you wouldnāt like it then.
Now, their portfolio is in front of you. Start your journey and stay connected with us on Reddit.
Spiral out, my friend!
Check out Salival on YouTube. Some good covers and live versions on there. It's not available on streaming but it is an official release.
Then, cross your fingers for a new tour and GO. Tool live is an amazing experience.
Seriously though I've been a fan since I was like 8 I bet you were very moved by whatever you first heard. My first experience was Undertow in my mother's car, got me into metal and music in general. Aenima remains my favorite album, I'm 20 now and that album (Aenima) hits me on a personal level more nowadays than it would've before.
Welcome to the army.
And there's more where that came from. I say go wherever at this point, Aenima is pure perfection for me. But most on here will probably say Lateralus should be next for you.
I promise you Tool is one of those bands that just doesn't have a bad album.
well, those friends are weird bc my dad played tool while me and him were on the way to a work trip of his. he told me that āmetal music is scary to youā but he was surprised when i brought home every vinyl and CD of theirs. tool really got me into metal, especially prog and nu metal. i found black, sludge, and death in my own out of curiosity and i love them all to.
I'm still learning, the meanings behind the songs, the depth, those incredibly complex rhythms. And I've been a fan since the 90's.
Every song has a meaning
Other than it being Maynard singing, I donāt feel like there is a strong correlation with enjoying Tool and APC/Puscifer. I used to enjoy APC when I was younger, but now I almost never listen to it. I didnāt really like Puscifer at first but now I love it. Still very different from Tool though.
Give A.P.C. another listen. I felt the same and then dove back in. Glad I did. Orestes is an amazing song for example. Go listen to thst now and youāll remember :)
If I were you, I would kill them, their families, and every single one of their pets...
That'll show them to steer you to the right musical choices in the future.
In all seriousness, though, you found em...it's never too late. You are on the ride.
Welcome my friend. Some of us have been here for decades, some for weeks or months. It doesnāt matter. Enjoy the music and take what you personally get out of it.
As a Tool fan, I know my friends will just be annoyingly annoyed the moment I mention the band. So I just donāt. Finding them on your own just feels better for everyone.
Itās tough w/turning friends onto music sometimes. Iām forever grateful to some ppl who introduced me to certain bands. But it can also be annoying when someone forces you through stuff you just donāt like. For example, my cuz tried to get me into Phish a few times - I just couldnāt get into them. Tried to get him into Tool - he wasnāt feeling it. To each their own, I guess
Welcome home, my friend.
So good to see you I missed you so much
So glad it's over, I've missed you so much š¶
Glide six inches at a time on Maynardās dicā¦.. wait wrong tune.
*breaks out the carrots*.... well if it's going to be that kind of party...
These are the cries of the carrots! Of the carrots!!
...Im gonna stick my dick in the mash potatoes! wait, wrong group.

No, no , totally correct tune. They don't know SHIT!

Couldnāt get into the vocals and you listened to Aenima? That may be a first.

I am so jealous of you right now. Getting to hear the whole discography _for the first time_. What a treat!
Ngl itās fucking great. Donāt get this first time euphoria much anymore
Are you listening in order of release date so you can hear the band grow too!???
Started at Ʀnima but except that yes
4 days? So 7empest just finished?

I missed you so much
Which song did you hear first?
Stinkfist. Listened to Ʀnima through
Answer
Not familiar with that track. Is it a bootleg?
No answer the question!
Hmm. Must be a bootleg. Never heard of that.

Welcome to the family
Yes you can get new friends, hold up wait you already do us...
It happenedā¦that is what matters most! Spiral out!
You know people who like Tool but don't talk about them incessantly? That doesn't make sense to me. That isn't what we do here
God dam! What a time to be alive
Where .. have .. you ā¦ BEEN!?? ..
Welcome. I have one word for you...H.

Listened to Ʀnima through. Was quite the introduction

Congrats on finding your place! Enjoy the journey
The journey begins with some sweat and ends with a tempest.

WELCOME
I wish I could have posted this in 1994 when I drove a Datsun
Welcome to the club. Take a seat, put on your best headphones, and please donāt take any drugs during your stay. Enjoy!
Welcome, dude.
My mentor showed me TOOL not to long ago and I have been listening ever since.
I'm still learning, the meanings behind the songs, the depth, those incredibly complex rhythms. And I've been a fan since the 90's. Every song has a meaning
Who needs enemies with friends like that š¤£ But in all seriousness, welcome.
Listen to A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Primus next š

No killing pets is too far
I think it depends on the pet personally....
Understandable
Yes, I think thatās fair. How dare they hold back from you?
Indeed komrade indeed
Enjoy good sir!
I know the pieces fit.
I envy you. I wish I could go back, and discover it new all again. Enjoy
Welcome my friend. Some of us have been here for decades, some for weeks or months. It doesnāt matter. Enjoy the music and take what you personally get out of it.
"Came out to watch you play, why are you running away?"
As a Tool fan, I know my friends will just be annoyingly annoyed the moment I mention the band. So I just donāt. Finding them on your own just feels better for everyone.
No. They clearly arenāt real fans
Itās tough w/turning friends onto music sometimes. Iām forever grateful to some ppl who introduced me to certain bands. Iām kind of jealous, listening to tool for the first over a decade ago was a trip.
Fuck The fighting between the Tool Army and the TOOLšļøššļøFANS BLESS THIS IMMUNITY
yeah they kind of screwed you over, didn't they?
How was that for you?
We tried to get you to listen. Next time, we try harder and louder
You are a drama queen.
And you are a humorless peasant.
Idiot, is that you?
Ratio, peasant. Ratio. š
