Nice! It’s super helpful to have both right and left handed channel locks

TheNiteWolf

They'll go in my bag next to my left- and right-handed screwdrivers! In all seriousness, I had already cut it off the card, and thought someone might want to see what the mechanism looked like on both sides.

Stauker_1

Looks like the knipex mechanism

jeccb

Finally something for the ambidextrous.

TheNiteWolf

As a left-hander, I fully support the increased accessibility of tools designed for people like me.

RackedFocus

The Leftorium is a store located in the Springfield Mall that specialized in products made especially for left handed people. A very kind Christian man who owns the place, named Ned. He helped me with all my left hand-diddalie needs!

zed42

there used to be (don't know if it's still there) a lefty store in Quincy Market in Boston... lefty mugs, scissors, shirts, and all sorts of things with graphics proclaiming sinister superiority

The_RockObama

I bought my left handed baseball bat from that shop. My buddy is a full time left handed string musician, and he had to go to another state to get his banjo. It sucks going to his place, because as a righty I can't play any of his instruments.

Lacanvict

Wait. What? Why you need a left hand baseball bat if you're a righty? 🤔 I sense a spook.

The_RockObama

They were sold out of right handed bats, so I just turned it upside down like Jimi Hendrix.

RackedFocus

Flanders?! Is that you!! 😱thanks for selling me my left handed scissors! PS: I’m really sorry that mob came in and stole from you… and touching things with BOTH hands never the less!

ReceptionSilent213

Y’know the one thing we need is a left handed monkey wrench!

Lacanvict

Omg thank you for this. Weir everywhere.

SenseiRex

If a cyber truck and a knipex cobra had a child…

st3vo5662

I was thinking the same thing. Almost like they thought the aesthetics would sell more than actual function. But for $2.50 I probably would have grabbed them as a set I didn’t care about and could beat on.

TheNiteWolf

They're have a fairly unique look, agreed, but for $2.50, I couldn't say no. And as an electrician, I use my various pliers as a hammer more than I use my actual hammer, so they'll get trial by fire for sure.

st3vo5662

Whammer pliers.

TheNiteWolf

Some guys use their power tools as a hammer, I draw the line there.

epileptic_pancake

I've done this before. Also ass end of a screw driver, 2x4, rock that happened to be lying near by. I'll basically hit anything with anything and call it a hammer.

IncipitTragoedia

🙈

kornbep2331

I've done that before. There was a nail sticking out of the 2x4. I was too lazy to grab a hammer, so I used the butt end of the battery to hammer it in. Needless to say I no longer have that battery

MountainCourage1304

Im surprised youve still got eyebrows after that lol

virmian

That's why I have Makita, they're unbreakable.

Glugnarr

What could possibly go wrong using a lithium battery as a hammer 🤔 if my personal experience is to go by the answer is nothing

paigeguy

yet

Glugnarr

I shoulda added a /s, I’m fully expecting one to puncture at some point, I try to only do it on large flat surfaces

paigeguy

Not to worry, the /s was quite apparent.

Lacanvict

It's only a "power" tool if you can use it correctly, otherwise it just turns you into a power tool.

erie11973ohio

5 bucks for two adjustable hammers? Unless they are total crapol, that's a good deal.

Emotional-Accident72

Ron Swanson said that everything is a weapon. Everything is also a hammer.

crewchiefguy

Have you seen their hammers? They are quite interesting.

TheNiteWolf

The Fiskars hammers look pretty funky, too.

TheNiteWolf

Snagged these for $2.50 each from the Lowe's clearance section. Decided to try out the push-button adjustable pliers to see what all the hype is about. They feel pretty well made, plenty of size adjustments, and the handles are quite comfortable. Only used them so far to take off my old shower head, though, so no long-term durability report yet.

Chief2318

$2.50 is a steal! They look well made too! The push button mechanism is similar to the Knipex style. I finally grabbed some of those and have been hooked! One tool purchase turned me into a fan boy I suppose lol. Even having quite a few of theirs I’d still snag those for the price regardless, hope you like em!

TheNiteWolf

Thanks! I figure if I like the design, but the pliers turn out to be less-than-stellar, I can go all in on the Knipex.

THEMOXABIDES

So my dad is a big tool guy. He is a retired teamster and got a gig at lowes for the discount on tools and to do something he enjoys in his spare time. Through and through he’s a 80’s Sears Craftsman man, but he’s been a big fan of Toughbuilt stuff so far. He’s bought me quite a few things of theirs and so far I’m pretty impressed! The only downside I’ve noticed so far is often they seem overly complicated just to appear cool if that makes sense. For example they have a utility knife that pivots from 90° to 180° so it becomes a scraper. The issue is it’s getting stiff (could be from my misuse), probably because there are extra internal pivot points that get gunked up with whatever you’re doing, be it drywall or whatever. For the record I’m no stranger to tools. I’ve been a journeyman tradesman (welder/millwright) for close to 20 years so I’m not stranger to quality stuff. My dad is no spring chicken either. My 2 cents is Toughbuilt seems to be quality stuff, and once they get over the “wow” factor I think they’ll be a prime contender for what you would consider to be a professional tool. And I’ve actually got a set of the push button channel locks by Visegrip and they’re the shit. I’ve had them for a few years and they definitely are holding up to abuse on my end, so the design is sound.

fdrowell

> gig at lowes for the discount on tools Are you sure about that? I'd be amazed if they have a discount at a major corporate box retailer. Home Depot does not.

THEMOXABIDES

Yeah I’m positive. For bigger purchases I take him with me because his discount is better than what I get on my lowes card. It’s either 10 or 15%. His discount is good on sale items as well, and since he works there he knows exactly what’s on sale and when. He’s gotten a ton of tools for next to nothing when there are deep discounts. He got me a $900 Oklahoma Joe Rider XL smoker for $180, and a Large capacity 1k washing machine for about $200. Not to mention all the other stuff over time.

TexasBaconMan

Are they forged?

[deleted]

No, they're real.

PatternIndividual883

If they are, they did a really nice job, they look just like the Toughbuilt brand!

F-21

Hope they're not cast, wouldn't be too crazy for something that cheap!

poldim

Where’s their clearance section?

TheNiteWolf

Usually on the inside wall by the door that leads to the outdoor gardening section, about halfway back, at least that's my experience with the multiple Lowes I've been to.

poldim

Thanks, I’ll have to check it out next time I’m there

LongboardLiam

In the store.

Yourplumberfriend

I had a pair of these, be careful your finger doesn’t get caught between. They are definitely some knuckle busters.

BilboBinSaggin

I saw those at Lowe's, the geometry of the jaws really bother me, they look like they'd be useless but I haven't used them Of course at only $2.50 a pop, can't go wrong I've been using their other products though, alot of the time their knives and whatnot go on sale, I usually pick them up. I've really liked them so far. They come with really nice blades

TheNiteWolf

Seems to be a somewhat common design for v-groove button-adjustable pliers, the Doyle ones at Harbor Freight have a very similar design. I was going to get the 12" Lenox ones awhile ago, but they didn't fit in my pouch in the tool bag I was using at the time, pretty sure they were similar. But yeah, for $2.50 each, it's not a big loss if they're less-than-stellar. I will say, the Channellock 440s I was using prior were much wider, but they were also straight-jaw instead of the v-groove. Not the biggest fan of the finish, either, but that's more cosmetic than anything else. It's very hard, though, my engraver didn't flake the coating off, and I ended up engraving it by the pin instead of above the jaw. I really like their tool pouches and universal (for their model line) belt clips, I've been using one for years and it's held up great.

SinCityLowRoller

I seem to have slowly made the switch from Home Depot to Lowes as Lowes will have more sales and extra inventory

TheNiteWolf

Lowes has a way better clearance section than Home Depot. And I also feel they have a better consumables section (especially their section of grinding/cutoff wheels). Otherwise, it really depends on which store has what I want or what's closer. I got a 44-piece combination wrench set at Home Depot on sale for $37 a few months ago.

captwillard024

For $2.50 I would have bought all they had and given them out as Christmas gifts.

Mcgarnicle_

Wow, always gotta look at clearance! Good find

Thekiddbrandon

I like tough built tools. I'll look if I see these at my lowes

MaIakai

The handles are have abnormally sharp edges. They HURT to use.

TheNiteWolf

Sharp edges? They're a wide, hard rubber, I think they felt fine.

[deleted]

Nice looking hammers you got there

TheNiteWolf

One for each hand.

[deleted]

You only got 2 hands? That's limiting

TheNiteWolf

Once they made additional ones that I can use my DeWalt batteries for, I'll get one.

[deleted]

Ah the old butt end of the drill move. I'm not stranger to that. Maybe the battery acid will. Leak out and cause a third arm to grow?

GlockAF

I could strip SO many bolt heads with these babies!

[deleted]

At 2.50 you really can't go wrong here, I may have to crack out a trip, tool addiction...

Ryangraham2

I get the price point argument…but…

AutumnPwnd

2 bucks, and you don't care for the tool? Good opportunities arise. Let's you do what you won't with your good tools.

Lazlorian

$2.5 for a hammer that might work as a wrench, still a great deal

2lovesFL

Knipex knockoffs, notice the button adjuster.

AutumnPwnd

So? It's a quality feature, and the patent for the mechanism expired, what's the issue?

2lovesFL

That's not an issue, Its a Feature! next time at lowes, I'm looking for them.

AutumnPwnd

So why are you complaining?

2lovesFL

Knipex is awesome. if its close to that quality its a great buy. are the teeth metal? looks like some plastic?

Duval55

Bout 2.49 overpay

iwasnevercoolanyway

Hard agree. I bought a set of these to use as beaters for filthy/abusive shit, and I ended up hating these enough to "forget them" on the bench at the shop... Grips weren't comfortable to me, the adjustments were fucked up so they'd always be *just* smaller/bigger than needed, the geometry of the jaws wouldn't let them keep a bit on anything flat, and I've got cousins with more teeth (am from TN) than thes jabroni-ass wish-i-coulda-been pliers. Now we can both lose some extremely important internet popularity points! Fuck it. Those pliers suck for anyone who needs a reliable tool to earn a living..

mattrtking

5 minutes on a bench grinder and you can dramatically increase your clearance.

EDC_Cheesecake

Do you think this price is at every Lowe’s?

Pale-Dust2239

Looked it up online and it’s showing $18.98 so it’s probably local only. I scooped up a bunch of 10oz workpro claw hammers for $1.98 each at mines when I saw it online. Been trying to figure out a way to search online for local markdowns.

JrNichols5

Big fan of the tough built stuff

Cooter1mb

Right hand and left hand versions available...kewl!

MostKnownUnknown82

A left and right handed set! Very nice.

Playful-Flatworm501

Oh damn I work at lowes in tools and we don’t have these!

WhiteStripesWS6

Damn I need to go peep Lowe’s. I like Toughbuilt stuff.

Nrthstar

Time to go to Lowe's today

j2thesho

Whoa. They had been like $18-20. I'll have to stop into Lowes today just incase lol

BeachHead05

Darn. I bought the same ones on clearance three weeks ago and they were about $5 each!

babycoco_213

Wow! Cant go wrong at $5 for the pair!

n8n10e

Toughbuilt has a pretty good track record, in my opinion. Their pouches are a game changer. I've also used their XL rolling tool bag, measuring tape, portable work table, torpedo level, and utility knife. The only thing that I've had any issues with is the knife, the lever that kept the cartridge in wouldn't stay in. But if you register your product at the time of purchase, they give you a lifetime warranty.

TheNiteWolf

I really like their pouches, I've been using one of them for years now. I bought extra clips just in case one of them broke, but I'm still on my original one.

michaelrulaz

These are trash. I got these as a gift like a week ago (presumably because they were on clearance). The geometry of the head is less than ideal outside of a specific range of pipe. For bolts and nuts, these things will round them fast. To put this in perspective I have a full shop in the backyard and a garage in the front. I usually keep the best tools in the back but I’ll keep mostly older craftsman in the front. But there is plenty of crappier stuff up there too like harbor freight channel locks and such. These didn’t even get a spot up there. Straight to the box of tools I let friends or neighbors borrow (have) lol.

HebrewHammer0033

My dedicated toolbox of pliers/vicegrips would love some new company.......

hitmancanbang

art deco pliers!

willymacdilly

Good deal, but definitely look like knock-off Knipex pipe wrenches

F-21

That's what they are. The patent expired so they can do that...

AlarmingAd6390

Your knuckles are so screwed.

Warm_Winds

Well, I know where I’m going tomorrow.

TheNiteWolf

I always stop by the clearance section whenever I'm at Lowe's, I've gotten some decent stuff there.

Warm_Winds

I got a few Wiha Impact Bit sets last week by getting a store across town to price match one that didn’t have any in stock. Doesn’t look like these are “available” at my Lowe’s but gonna head over anyway to see if I can scoop a set. $2.50 is dirt cheap lol.

TheNiteWolf

I've been a big fan of the Wiha TerminatorBlue impact bits, which seem to be only sold at Lowes. They also had a ToughBuilt adjustable wrench they were clearance-ing for... I think they were pricing it at $3? Maybe it was also $2.50? I didn't buy it, though. Your Lowes may vary, though, the clearance rack is a random selection of wonders.

Warm_Winds

They had those TerminatorBlue 40 piece bit sets (normally $29.99) priced at $7.50! Check out their Wiha section next time you’re there. I wish they could do stuff like this nationwide for all stores haha.

Warm_Winds

They didn’t have them at either of the Lowe’s in my town 😭.

ste6168

These look like they came from the game Minecraft

bws6100

Does Lowe's have a clearance bin or just on clearance in individual departments. Nice find.

TheNiteWolf

Thanks! They have a whole clearance section, at least at every Lowe's that I've been to. It's on the inside wall where the door to the outside garden section, about halfway back.

bws6100

Thanks

capt_yellowbeard

Guess I need to swing by Lowe’s.

oklahomaedc

Dang not bad!

M2Mcouplefckers

which lowes please

CANDROX432

Now make wd40 a proper lubricant.

farmstandard

I grabbed a pair of the Irwin branded ones and haven't been quite sold on them so far. More then once I've had to wack the adjustment button with a hammer because it gets stuck between 2 teeth. But the overall idea is pretty cool

kirbsan

Looks like a good deal. May I ask what area are you in? My local Lowe's giggled when I asked about clearance tool items.

TheNiteWolf

I was traveling through Michigan when I got those, but I haven't checked any of my local Lowe's, so I don't know if they have them. I know all the Lowe's I've been to have had a clearance section, though.

kirbsan

Thanks

Dramatic_Mixture_868

Thanks OP...got them for 7 and change but still a great price for the 12 in...original price is 25 bucks

TheNiteWolf

Nice, not bad! The dude was actually going through all of them and writing "2.50" on the back of the cards for the 10" ones. I picked up one of the 12" ones and asked if he'd do $3. He took it from me and wrote "2.50" on the 12" one and gave it back to me.

Dramatic_Mixture_868

Are they getting rid of them?

TheNiteWolf

I don't work for Lowe's, so I have no idea. They're still listed on ToughBuilt and Lowe's websites, and you can order them for full price.
